BACKGROUND:
Parents offered to take the 3 of us BM, Mrs BM and BM Jnr to UK. Unfortunately BM Jnr is in Year 10 (4th form) of High School and taking a month out is not an option for him. Our cat and dog are quite old and Mrs BM refuses to leave them in kennels (says she will come over another time - once the animals have gone to the big sandbox in the sky and BM Jnr is out of High School - another 2 years for him).

So it's just me and my parents and we are basing ourselves in the home town of "2 Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps" where I understand they have a mini version of our Harbour Bridge

In between there is:
3 day World Tour of Dublin - Tuesday, 21 August 2007 to Friday, 24 August 2007

3 day World Tour of Barcelona - Tuesday, 4 September 2007 to Friday, 7 September 2007

I have to fit in the mandatory meet the rello's (can't wait to see how my cousin's beautiful little girls have grown up - they were 5 and 8 when they visited Oz 4 years ago).

There's also some as yet unscheduled trips to Scotland (no idea what bit - but will definitely try to sneak a way for a beer or 12 with a few iSketch Regs), Wales (now that presents some language challenges - same deal as Scotland too- I mean about beers not just local lingo) and probably mucking about on boat on some canal on 28th August. I will also try to stick in an overnighter to London or somewhere around there - may need a translator - but I understand that London is the place where most Aussies seem to gravitate to for the purpose of causing havoc, pretty much like the Brits do with Bondi.

Somewhere in between is a night out on the piss with the cousins - they are mostly Scousers so I may end up having to talk my way out of getting locked-up (not bringing any police ID with me - too hard to get replaced if it goes missing).

I do have some posh cousins down south - but we don't talk to them much because they are so hard to understand.

Pfft! Too rough indeed! Only one of my cousins has died from falling off a building site! Anyway - given that the World Tour has to include some of Scotland and some of Wales - I won't lock in a date for my sojourn to London until I actually sort out getting on the drink with the cousins. The parents also want to visit London, so I'm hoping they will do the drive down to London and stay a couple of nights thing, so I can lose them after a day and they can head back up north and leave me to find my own way home after a couple more days. As I say - nothing locked in just yet - but would love to make time to meet anyone from down south who can't make Manchester

Well it's more like the way the Americans have their "World Series" sporting events, like World Series baseball, yet the only country invited is United States of America and not even the Canadians or Mexicans - who are their next-door neighbours get an invite. But we really pinched the title from Billy Connolly and his "World Tour of Australia"

Last time I flew I went Manchester - Amsterdam - Winnipeg - Vancouver - Honolulu - Fiji - Sydney. So this time it's Sydney - Singapore - Manchester.

Shameless Bump!

BM is leaving his beloved island on Thursday (albeit temporarily) so I wish him a safe and comfortable flight.

He will be touring our mighty nation so anyone who wants to meet him for a cuppa and crumpets can contact him via the forum (providing he works out how to use an adaptor for the plug).

The Manchester meet is going ahead but I reckon he owes the Southerners a lunch or two!

He often refers to Aus as paradise but I don't think he will be disappointed by the UK....
