Charity Events
Today I swum the Swimathon and raised £83 for Marie Curie Cancer Care. I took part in a team swim where our team of 5 had to swim a total of 5km. I swam 1.75km and our combined efforts totalled 6.25km and between us we have raised about £650.
Have any of you guys done anything for charity? How much did you raise and for which charity?

Well done deebs, that's fantastic news :)
I do charity events every now and then but it's more based on a global scale (that is, more specifically for countries rather than individual foundations) so for aid relief, raising money for third world countries (I apologise if that's not PC and if anyone is offended) and similar. I do stuff for schools but that's not counted as charity. I donate to cancer related charities when I see collections/boxes for them but I've never done anything specifically for them, sadly. Now I feel a bit useless because that's nothing compared to what most people do :( Does giving blood count? I've always hoped that I could help someone beat cancer or some other serious illness. |

Thanks AJ :)
I think donating to a charity or donating to someone doing an activity for charity can be just as good as actually doing something, because after all, if these activities didn't have sponsors, there would be no money raised. Giving blood is definitely very helpful and imo can be compared to doing something for a charity. A charity needs money just as people receiving the blood need the blood.

Well done db! AJ, sounds like you do stuff regularly; that's great :)
4 other people and I raised £2500 for a school in rural Nepal. We then went over and helped build the foundation of the school. I've done some other, smaller events as well.

Mmm.. Just recently when was it. Yesterday.. :) I did a 4.5k three legged run and I would suspect me individually raised about £50 or so.. but as a total (since it was a college thing) we're hoping to raise 10k+ for Teenage Cancer Trust :) Hmm... I tend to try and do quite a bit for charity every now and then. :) I'm sure I've done something else other than that in the past year but I'm not sure.. -shrugs- I know last years run in our sixth form went to marie curie too and I helped with that :) Ooohh.. This summer I'm planning to do 60 miles on a bike (London to Cambridge) for charity. I know the name of the charity but I can't remember it.. Guh. When it comes back to me I'll put it on here or something. :) It's something to do with ambulances/emergency services/air aumbulances I think.. or maybe not I'm tired. xD ahah xD
