I used to be somebody who always went on my first impressions of people-I dont mean on sketch or forum but in real life. But I am often wrong, people who i thought I would dislike lots have turned out to be my best friends and often people I thought were great have stabbed me in the back. Mr BunE however is always right with his first impressions and never ever seems to get people wrong. What about your first impressions??

Im normally good with first impressions of people, which was proved a while ago.
I knew this certain person was a sheep in wolves clothing and i unmasked that person,
And i felt so much better for doing it, as to many people get taken in or abused by charlatons.

i don't think i always go by my first impressions. if i don't like someone at first, i'll give them a couple more chances and if they really piss me off, i'll avoid them.

hmm. i wish other people would do that for me. i'm quite rude and abrupt on the surface... but i can be quite nice sometimes... xD

I don't like to judge people, and I usually don't get along with others who do. But I can usually tell if I'll get along with someone right off the bat. If I notice I can't I try and warm up. Everyone is different. You'll never learn not to judge if you first don't accept that.

I'm usually quite spot on. I'm never rude when I meet new people, but I can tell instantly if we have things in common. I will talk to ANYONE, even if our personalities aren't compatable/compatible/matching! (LOL).

I am also one of those that doesn't really care if someone walks away after a night out and dislikes me. I am who I am, and I refuse to change for anyone!

Takes many people/personalities to make the world go round, we can't ALL see eye to eye ALL the time!

'If everybody looked the same, we'd get tired of looking at eachother.' Song lyric, and I think it kinda matches to personalities too. Opposites attract they say, but I've yet to prove that LOL.

I used to think I was spot on, but I'm not. In the past I have dismissed people as 'not being my type' who have ended up being amoung my absolute best friends.

All my best/close friends that I have are people that I've liked since the first impressions I got off them. I do give people the benefit of the doubt if there's not really anything there in the first few times I see them. However, my closer friendships haven't worked out that way. Those go for the ones that I haven't met online. If I click with someone, I generally trust myself, because I'm normally really bad at socialising face-to-face, heh.

As far as online.. always difficult. I think I've only really messed up twice. It is harder online. But other than that, I have a group of really close friends, and then one person that I like and trust more than anyone else that I've met online. I clicked with her since the first time I spoke with her. I share absolutely everything with her. Something was screaming out that I should befriend this person. So I did. And I love her to bits. Glad I met her and poked her to find out more about her :)

It's funny how these days I can look at a new batch of probationers and pick which ones will make it and which ones will be our problem children. Never been too far wrong. One who had surprised me - yes I thought I got it wrong - recently proved me right and is now currently under investigation.

I ain't been bad at first impressions, whether it be online or not. I am not saying that everyone i have befriended has treated me the same way. I have been hurt before, but that only makes you much more stronger.

My downfall is, when i tell people about my phobia they, are out of there like a hairy bear and i don't see them for dust again. Yes its their loss but it can still be pretty hurtful and don't get any easier. I tend not to judge people or go on anyone else's hearsay, as me personally i do not like to be judged. Take me for me. It would be nice for someone to see beyond some peoples problems and get to know the real person inside, the one that makes them tick.

Why anyone would be worried about your fear of pompoms is beyond my understanding......

Kind of the same for me, though if I am in a group and I know some people I'm fine talking with everyone. Otherwise I can be quiet =o

Hmmm...I tend to notice the things people don't say.

In fact, when I'm talking to someone, I tend to focus so much on the person, instead of their words, such as their body language, where they're looking, their expression, their hand gestures, their tone, pitch, the way they smile, and everything expect the actual content of what they're saying, that usually I don't notice what they do say...but then:

I'd like to say I'm good with them, but I give everybody a load of chances. I do have people that I instantly dislike -- which is odd. But they always turn out to be jerks.

Thing with these judgements is that you may make people live up to your judgements. When somebody you expect to be a so-and-so, you start attributing their actions to the character you made in your head. You may even unconsciously lead conversations in such a way that the person comes out as you expected.

But, without judgements our heads would explode. Carry on.

My first impressions are usually right.. except one glaring example.

When I first went to college (which is university in the US), I had four roommates. One of the girls was this tiny, yappy, cheerleading type personality which always clashes with mine.

Turns out she was all of these things, but incredibly fun and intelligent. She became my best friend and roomed together all four years. Then I was her maid-of-honor in her wedding and two years later she was mine!

We always said if the college had never put us together in a room freshman year, we never would have introduced ourselves to each other or become such good friends.

i hope people don't go on their first impressions of me lol!

As a general rule, I think first impressions are a bad assumption to make. It depends on the person though.
