alright so i know.. this is a little dorky... but........

The new Harry Potter book is coming out in 20 days and im pretty excited i dont know about anyone else.. and the 5th movie is also coming out in a month or so, just wondering about everyone's thoughts on Mr. Potter. maybe we can discuss things in books or whatnot..

this is one of the few books that i've actually taken the time to read for fun, and it's worth it too, J.K. Rowling writes excellently and takes the time to help you visualize every detail. perfectly mapping out the story for her readers, while at the same time not giving it away.

I LOVE HARRY POTTER!

okay. some of my theories for the seventh book:

[spoil] remember when Harry was helping out to clean 12 Grimmauld Place in the 5th book? he came across an old, heavy locket. my guess is that the locket is a horcrux. Slytherin's locket.
The Mirror of Erised is described as having heavy gold claws. one of the horcruxes might have been owned by Ravenclaw, since Voldemort had an obsession with Hogwarts. that's another guess for a horcrux, though not as likely.
JK Rowling has told us that the fact that Dumbledore had Harry's father's invisibility cloak the night Voldemort came for them is important. i think that Harry is going to use a time-turner and go back to the night that his parents were killed, and tell Dumbledore what to do with his baby self.
Dumbledore is dead for sure, JKR told us that when she was doing a reading in New York.
Snape is good.
i'm still undecided as to whether Harry will live or die. :( [/spoil]

i listen to a Harry Potter podcast. they really, really really go into details.

so Deathly Hallows is the title of book 7. apparently that's too hard to translate into some languages, so JKR gave an alternative title - Harry Potter and the Relics of Death. i think that that pretty much confirms that it's about horcruxes.

Locket
[SPOIL]Ok me and my bro and mum had a theory... the locket that they found in the cave.. the note inside had the innitials R.C.B i think... and yeah, the locket inside Grimmauld place that they couldn't open... well, Sirius had a brother haned Regulus Black... R.B? so, maybe that's why Regulus was killed, because he has stolen the locket. [/SPOIL]

5th movie looks kickin.. im glad they

Wow gracie i love them theorys, the using the time turner thing would be great, a bit of a 'butterfly effect' ending.
I heard about the snape being good thing on a website, something about how when he said 'please serverous' he meant please kill him, cos of the unforgivable vow and there being no other way around it.
i dont know how to spoiler this, sorry.

[SPOIL]ooh yes, i forgot about that one. the initials are actually RAB. have you noticed that in the Black family, everyone is named after a star except for Narcissa? JKR says that it's because she's always imagined that character as a Narcissa. anyways. the rest of them are named after stars. and apparently their middle names too - JKR gave us a hint for the star she used for Regulus Black's middle name; the distance from the Earth and blah blah blah. his middle name is Arcturus. think that pretty much confirms that he's RAB, and it also makes sense that the locket would be in the Black House.[/SPOIL]

I'm working at my old bookshop on midnight of the opening of Harry Potter. It's really cool cos we decorate the whole place in the Hogwarts theme. Black drapes, music, loads of candles....so excited! We did it for the last 2 books and it was so much fun.

I also think...[SPOIL]Hagrid will die. From the first time I came across him I was like "He's going to die." Plus, near the end of the 6th book, after Dumbledore dies, it says something about how Harry saw everyone who cared for & protected him die, & Hagrid is surely the next person to go if that's the case...[/SPOIL]


Arghh I'm not. The chapter on Grawp bored me so much when I read the book.
On re-reads I skipped it most times.

Previously I always got to read it first here, but this year my sister wants to. So we're buying two copies so we can read it at the same time, & then selling one on to a friend of my mums, who isn't going to read it til October!!

I think I bought the third book at midnight -haha! And the sixth in Austria.

Pity I'll just be back from Scotland when the 7th is coming out. Would've made it special.

Don't know, Rowling's writing is certainly not brilliant... but the story is so exciting! haha

[spoil]yeah, there's been a lot of talk about how JKR won't want anyone to write sequels. i'm pretty sure that the good side will win. just not sure whether Harry survives it or not.[/spoil]

[spoil]i also think Ron might die. it would be kind of unrealistic if they were in a 'war' and all Harry, Hermione and Ron survive. plus, remember the chess game in Book 1? Ron gets "killed" by the queen? a lot of people have been speculating that the seven tasks in the first book have parallels to each book. there are some theories that Voldemort represents the King in Chess, and Bellatrix is the Queen. so Bellatrix will kill Ron?

Even though they have got progressively worse since book 4, I'm sure to still buy 2 copies when it comes out (so me and the bird can read at the same time. lol).

It better turn things around though, although I doubt its possible for it to be any worse than the last book. Tosh.

Quite interested to see the new film too... Order of the Phoenix had sod all happen in it either. lol

Hadn't heard anything about that parellels thing, but it sounds pretty likely, although maybe not that they parallel each book (because they haven't, really) but they parallel the tasks to get the 7 horcruxes? I hadn't thought of that before, just something I came up with reading your post.. But to get the locket one they had to drink the potion, & there was a potion task in the first one, right?
Don't reckon Bellatrix will kill Ron.. she killed Sirius I think?
Oh yeah, which reminds me, we'll be seeing more of that veil or whatever it was (still don't understand that part of the story, what is it, a random arch with a curtain in the middle of a stadium type thing?!?!?)

A few of you seem to be saying the 6th was weak.. personally I thought the 5th was the worst.
Like... nothing happened in it until right at the end, which wasn't even particularly interesting.

I'm going back to my old workplace for the opening of Harry Potter 7 at midnight and we're decorating the place out in the Potter theme.
I thought it would be a good idea to have an owl dotted around somewhere (we were going to have a real one but realised it would cost like £90!)
So....i've been searching around for a big plastic fake one. Any owl would do but i need one! On the off chance...does anyone know of any website that would sell a fake owl???

I felt Harry got way too...angry... after the fourth book. It seems he got too emotional / angry and cursed a lot in the fifth and sixth book. But the series is great, that's really my only complaint.

Which reminds me, I have to finish reading the last chapter of the Half Blood Prince. It's leftover from last year... I don't know why I never finished it (heh I might have been devistated over the events at the end of the book, thus never finishing it =? )

6th was good.

4th was best though (goblet of fire) but the film of it was absolute SCH????! they cut out over half the story. . .if you had never read the book and just watched the film you wouldnt have a clue what the ending meant ...

[SPOIL]There was this thing I heard on MuggleNet that Harry may have accidentally been a Horcrux the night the Voldermort tried to kill him. That's why Harry has some of Voldermort's powers... so... I dunno.. Maybe Harry will die in no. 7 [/SPOIL]
