Unhappy Internet Explorer error when logging into iSketch?

Has that happened to anyone else? It only started happening tonight when I went to edit my profile. Now, whenever I try to log in, an Internet Explorer error pops up and closes the iSketch window. Does anyone know how to fix it? :(

Can you remember what the pop-up says? That'll help us find what the problem is

Did you link an icon to your profile, by any chance?

Ah yes, checking in your settings "turn off player icons" comes to mind as a possible solution to your crashing issues. But i guess that's of little help if your browser crashes before you can log in. Hmmmm...

email isketch feedback also comes to mind. they might provide the answer you seek.

I didn't think the icon issues would be for looking at your settings. I've never had the pop up for icons while in my settings. That's just for others profiles.

If the game (unsuccessfully) tries to cache your own icon while logging in, a security exception could be thrown in IE. Just one possibility.

Have you tried a different browser? I know we generally get attached to one browser.. I'm totally guilty of that. <3 Safari. But for little things like this, you could use a different browser for isketch to see if the same problem comes up. Like Firefox. Hope your problems get sorted soon.

If you can't log on at all using IE, I suggest that you download another browser, e.g. Firefox and use that to log on. Then, on the main 'menu' page (i.e. where the room list is) before you go to Settings type "/ICON" (without the quotation marks " ") and press Return. This will clear your existing icon (which is probably the cause of the problem) and you should then be able to use IE again. If you really want to. Though why anyone would...

Yes, that's exactly what I did! It only started happening when I entered a tinypic.com URL. :(

It crashes before I log in :(

I may take the advice of the last poster, "flopsy", though. I am guilty of loving the game already ;D

I'll keep you posted, thanks for all replies so far.

I just dowloaded firefox, typed in isketch.net and it says this:

Not Found
The requested URL /i2.html was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/1.3.37 Server at www.isketch.net Port 80

Darnit.

You would appear to have some crap on your PC. IE shouldn't crash for no reason (well ok..it does..but :-P ).

The Firefox one, is as though you mistyped the URL, or iSketch was temporarily down.

Ensure your running WindowsUpdate/MicrosoftUpdate to get patches/updates.
And try http://housecall.trendmicro.com as a scanner for Malware.

It happened to me too. I had a few computer problemos (all my own fault, btw, lol) a few months ago. It was more of a shockwave problem than anything. And though I could access iksetch in safari and opera (but it wasn't working properly), Firefox was saying that it doesn't recognise the URL, even though it was all typed in perfectly fine, etc.

Of course, my shockwave problem was effecting a few sites, but mostly isketch. And I'm addicted, so yup, I did go through the efforts of reinstalling my whole OS. I.e. swiping the computer to get it back to its original state. If JASR is right, and the computer has "crap" on it, then this would sort out your problem (especially if nothing else works). But of course, you should only do this if you're in the position to swipe out your computer. Making sure you back up important files, etc. As I've said previously somewhere, it is extreme, but sometimes it's necessary. I've known about 6 people do this so far now, and it's worked for all of 'em (including my clumsy self).

JASR - I thought maybe I had some crap on my PC also, but IE only crashes when I try to log into iSketch. Thanks for the site for malware, I might download that sometime.

MsNerdinator - How do I do a whole system reset? I'm not saying i'm going to do it, but i'm curious. I've been wanting to do it for a while now, maybe you could tell me/link me to a site which explains how to do it?

Do you have your Operating System on a CD? You should have it from when you got your computer, in most cases. The installation disks. I actually had to use those, because I got an upgrade of the OS that I use. I'm aware that my sister doesn't have hers, for some odd reason. I just put in my installation disk of the latest operating system that I have, and started over. Followed the instructions, and reinstalled the whole thing on the computer, which like I said swipes everything you have, and takes you back to how it originally was. Your baby will look shiny brand new internally, lol.

My sis just told me actually, that the reason why she doesn't have the installation disks (at all) is because the restoring is set as a default. She can restore her computer back to the factory settings, somewhere under her options, rather than using a disk. I guess it depends on the kind of computer you have, and what they've provided you with. And I'm not much of a PC user.. so I should go quiet now XD
