Talking Invites

Thought I'd get a few opinions.

I know a large percentage of people on here are on other people's buddies lists and get lots of invites when logging in.

How do you deal with the invites that you don't want to accept?

I know I loathe rejecting invites but there are times that I don't want to go to a particular room. Sometimes, I don't know what to say, so don't and I know how rude that may look but it's not intended.

What do you do?

Also, how do you feel when you invite and the invitee doesn't want to accept?

I think it's reasonable just to send the person who invited you a pm and say... I'm gonna play in here, want to come in? Or just send the person who invited you a nice pm explaining why you're going somewhere else. I've never known anyone mind yet. Also, I don't mind if people I invite want to play in other rooms... not a problem. If you want to chat together you can pm.

I don't think an explaination of why would be neccessary. At least I have never expected one. I will tell the person thank you though. Common courtesy I would think. And depending on the person, usually I will chat for a few minutes(or longer :p). Tis nice to know the person wants to be in your (my) company.

I think what Buffers said is fair enough. I usually say thanks, but I am already in such-and-such a room, or so. I don't think people would take it personally.

By the way, this post is pure spammage to show off my new addition to my sig.

I usually accept it, or wait till the round finishes and then accept it. Doesn't happen too often anyway :D

And whoever is messing with the forum, replacing the word ISketch by 'test' :D?

I'm getting that too, but it's goes when I refresh.

RE Invites, alot of the time all buddylist players are in the same room anyway, but if not I just send a pm out of politeness, thus this lets the player know you got the invite and also that it is you not not someone else with same username. ( here we go back to usersnames again ) ,

Edit: should anyone on here get an invite from me and wants to go to another room not mine don't worry I won't take it personally.

You guys make me look so ruuude

If I log on and get loads of invites, then I generally don't PM people to say 'no thanks', :s. But if I get just one or two, then I PM people. Seems unfair for the people who are inviting me, 'cause they don't know that I'm not going to individually reply to them for that reason. So um.. sorry to anyone who might feel/get offended by that :)

Also, for you cheeky monkeys that change your names, I avoid PM'ing people whose names I don't recognise, heh. Sometimes you get the PITAs who add you to their buddy list and change their names, so I generally stay away from accepting/talking to the ones that don't ring a bell.

Also, who is Ches?

Although I usually get invites from the same room anyway. Sometimes even when I'm already in there.

Whilst we are on the topic of invites can I explain how you re-invite, as I have noticed a few regulars say oh I can't invite etc etc as I have done already.
If you invite someone and they leave/fall out or didn't accept your first invite,
you need to invite yourself first eg /invite jewels then invite the player again.

You'll give that up when ;alkdjflsjfkdfs joins your room, and becomes a besotted stalker from that one romantic invite situation :P

Maybe you thought that /invite alone would invite the whole of isketch to the one room? Oh what a server nightmare! Actually, I think BM wrote you can type /invite .(dot) or any letter will do.

lol, that would be rather amusing. At least until all the cyber people come in I actually just tried /invite (no letters or dots after it), and that seems to work. Why I didn't know this before is beyond me..

Thanks for your thoughts guys, now I know when you're all rejecting me Paranoid?! Who?!!

On a more serious note, I do find refusing invites very difficult. Especially when people who you are trying to take a break from have you on their buddy list so see you log in all the time and invite straight away.

Actually, it's not that difficult, as you all say (apart from nRudey...) it only takes a polite pm but I can't say no to anyone so it seems easier to me to just ignore. Yes, I realise how rude that is

I can say no nicely (I don't find it hard saying no. Say no to drugs! Um, sorry.. missing the point here). I'm just mostly too lazy to PM people. Ruuudeness on my part, I know :S I think most people know though that if someone is on their buddylist, and they invite them, it doesn't mean that they'll accept an invite EVERY time they invite.

It does get difficult if I log on and find that my friends are split into a few different rooms. Depending on my mood, I'll choose to settle in one room. And to not offend someone (or if I've not seen someone in a while and want to share a few games), I'll hop rooms a bit.

But I'm generally a bit of a stray dog... um.. cat? Nerd?, so I tend to just wander around rooms, XD. (minus cyber!)

Hmmm, I've been thinking and if someone didn't reply to my invite, I wouldn't think it was rude. So I don't know why I think it's rude for me to not reply. I certianly wouldn't think you were being rude if you didn't reply to an invite Nerdy {{hugs}}

one tip on /invite with nothing after it. if you have invited someone and then they get disconnected again you can not invite them again. it iwll say "You have already invited xxxxxxxx." if you then type "/invite" it clears your invites so you can then send another invite to the same person. i see it quite often that people dont know about that.
