Mish Mash Rules

For those of you who don't know the rules to Mish Mash.

The following can be found at:

http://rocketjump.emeyer.co.uk/mash/

And http://www.task10.com , ZeBadger's site, under the 'Alternative rules'. section.

Many thanks to both these sites.

Quick Reference

N - Normal
CU - Close Ups
Z - Zoom
BP - Big Picture
BEV - BirdsEye View
POV - Point of View
SM - Something's Missing
OP - Opposites
PUN - Puns
SL - Sounds Like
UD - Upside Down
NS - N00b Style

Mish Mash

'Mish Mash' allows the artist to pick the game rules for the current round.
The artist is given 3 words and must pick one that they will draw for the round. The artist must do the following:
  • Choose one of the three supplied words to use as the answer for the round.
  • Choose what game rules to play with (described below).
  • Write the letter code for their chosen game rules into their picture. This should remain for the entirety of the round.
  • Sketch their images following the rules for their chosen game and play as normal
  • If hints are given, the artist should signify which of the three words they chose for their sketch by sketching #1, #2 or #3
Note that there is one exception to these rules. If the artist has chosen Big Picture then they should pick at least two of the words as the answers.

N - Normal

The artist sketches the answer as in any standard iSketch game.

CU - Close Ups

The artist draws the answer close up. For example if the answer is 'house', they may draw the front door, a window and part of the wall. This is a close up portion of a house.

Z - Zoom

Zoom is similar to Close Ups but the artist may zoom in (close up) or out (far away).

BP - Big Picture

The artist picks at least two words and incorporates them into a single sketch. The sketch should not be two separate images but both answers incorporated into one single image. For example, if the answers are 'pot' and 'beehive' the artist may draw a pot hanging from a tree branch, with bees flying around it.

BEV - Bird's Eye View

The artist draws the answer as a bird would see it from above.

POV - Point of View

The artist draws what the answer would see. That is to imagine the answer has eyes and what it would be viewing from it's normal place in the world. For instance if the answer was 'mechanic' then the artist may draw a car engine with the car's hood up.

SM - Something's Missing

The artist does not draw the answer. Instead they sketch a scene with the answer missing. The scene should give clues to the other players as to what the missing item is. For instance, if the answer was 'bird', the artist may draw a nest with eggs in it, but no bird. The artist may in fact draw the answer if it is relevant. For instance, if the answer is 'tentacle', they may draw an octopus with seven tentacles as the answer would still be missing, because octopus have eight.

OP - Opposites

The artist does not draw the answer. Instead they draw the opposite of the answer. This does not have to be strict like hot & cold but may also include answers such as 'salt' with pepper, 'tea' with coffee or even 'bath' with shower. Aslong as the sketch is different in some relevant way to the answer.

PUN - Puns

The artist does not draw the answer. Instead they sketch an image that is a play on the word. For example if your word is 'armchair' you could draw a chair with arms, or a chair shaped like an arm.

SL - Sounds Like

The artist does not draw the answer. Instead they sketch something that sounds like the answer. This should only be for one word soundalikes, otherwise it is a pun.

UD - Upside Down

The image, answer or part of the sketch is drawn upside down.

NS - N00b Style

Draw the image like a noob!

Y'know Buffers... thanks for that! As Mish Mash is in the final round of the Tournamant, this will help the finalists in case they are unfamiliar with the concept. I can be so forgetful at times and just assumed that everyone would know - sorry if this wasn't the case... you can join the queue to whip me after the Tournament

Thanks for posting that, Buffers. Just in case anyone might be confused, I have also seen USD for 'upside down' although I guess everyone would be able to work out what it meant :)

/me, //Loviii--x & Fy_Nyte are n00bs anyway.

We decided mish-mash was turning into NS anyway so we set up a n00b room.
And I *accidentally* kept my n00b avatar. Mahahaa.
Anyways, I do love mishmash =]

Oh is THAT what mish mash is then?

I had NFI.

So let me get this straight. NS means you draw some obscure thing that looks nothing like what it should be, then attempt to manually erase it, then scribble across it and then press SKIP. Once you SKIP you then hurl abuse at the rest of the players calling them stupid because they couldn't guess what you were drawing. Then you use the warning button for no apparent reason, vote to boot out an innocent regular and get booted out?

Yes. But only when you are dishing it out big time.

Can we get people to go off and invite some random newbies into the tournament rooms just so we can pick on them then boot them out?

lol BM...

Firstly... no one can skip a player - only the Room Adjudicator can do that. The reason I chose Mish Mash was to take a bit of pressure of the finalists and make it light hearted. Also... it is about getting maximum points in the final to win - I doubt that there would be much clearing screens etc - just remember potential finalists - YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO WRITE LETTERS (other than to advise players what style of draw you intend to do).
