MSN hack?
Sorry if this is in the wrong place
In case you don't know, if you see a mail from an MSN contact of yours, which has this content: Quote:
The reason I'm letting you know is because the email is supposedly from an MSN contact. Hope I haven't made a pointless thread or anything. |

Thanks for sharing this 830 - and information like yours that can be shared especially when it can protect our privacy is always welcomed.
I certainly don't think this is pointless! :)

Since Peter hasn't deleted my account yet, I thought I'd add to this.
I've actually received the email as well, from one of my sisters, but a few others have also got it (as in my sisters) from other people. From what we've gathered so far, is that if you actually *open the email* it doesn't do any harm. BUT.. if you *click the link* then it sends the email to all your friends in your contacts list. So you end up receiving the email from a friend thinking it's genuine, and then pop... you press the link, and the same thing happens to you and your contacts. I could be wrong about when you open the actual email. But I'm just basing that on a few people that I know that use Windows (and myself using Mac) that when we've opened the email but haven't clicked the link, then it's been okay (we think, anyway..). Thankfully I didn't click the link either, as I thought that was a weird email that my sister sent, lol. Thanks for posting it, 830 |

Funny you should mention it 830, I received that style of e-mail from you :P
I didn't think that the text is your style of writing, so I just ignored it.

Yep, my apologies for sending that to people too.
I opened it because it did honestly sound like the person who sent it to me....a very very stupid move on my part because I never do things like that! I just changed my email password and hopefully it's petering out. It's an annoyance more than anything, I think....but it has also sparked some people to send me emails asking me what's up. I've done that too...got a stupid spam email from one of my friends, and we ended up having a very nice email conversation for a few days :P Those spammers keep us in touch with our friends at least!

Apology . . . accepted
On the sent to field, it remains blank. So that is an indicator that it's possible spam
