Sorry... don't quite get you...

ASCII? So do you just write the word out? Doesn't sound like much fun.

Sounds pointless... saying that, so is the 'iPod' mishmash draw. At least that's a little fun though. Writing the word? Not cool, dude

I think he means using letters and keyboard symbols to create a picture. It's a bit hard, I think.

I drew an apple that way to give it a try. I found it too time consuming:

Yeah, like Nay said. ASCII art is making pictures from keyboard symbols. The type of thing you see a lot on bebo/myspace/others with love hearts and such made from symbols. Usually / , . ( etc are used more than letters.

Would make me feel a bit bad if an artist got half way through that and then I skipped them for using letters. lol

Aye, I know of ASCII art (I often put Star Wars ASCII pics in my scripts to make them a bit more fun... and so peeps can tell they're mine ;) but I didn't see how it could apply to iSketch.

I just went to the studio to see how it hard it would be (it's meant to be a shark... shhhh)

It doesn't take long at all if you're not bothered about filling the whole thing in. And like every style in mish mash, the artist won't use it unless they like it and the word is suitable for it. I think it's a nice idea. (Edit: provided there is a rule that you don't just use the letters which spell out the word, which is what you might have been saying)

reecer6: Can you post a studio pic of what sort of draw you are talking about?

And on the topic of writing out the word not being fun, I've seen some "puns" where the artist may as well just have written the word

In mishmash it's fine, but I don't think it's a style that will ever capture my heart.

You know the iPod averts? Colourful background, silhouetted figure, white iPod cable? It's basically a picture that looks like that, with the figure replaced by the word.

http://www.task10.com/mash for those of you who arent aware. Letters are allowed in general in Mish Mash rooms. One of the styles NTS, or nutty style, relies primarily on letters to portray the answer. If you enjoy drawing but are finding the normal rooms are starting to get dull, i highly recommend mish mash.

Although in my opinion, most of the words drawn in that style are just awful. There's nothing clever about drawing an ant saying "pheas" instead of drawing a pheasant.

how bout a w in d for wind. isnt that clever?(sarcasm btw) its one of my least favorate styles yes but you get the occasional gems, and some of them make you think, which is the point of mish mash and this is a run on isnt it.

Yes, there are some clever ones but they're few and far between. Most of them are just cop outs.

Letters are not allowed "in general" in MishMash but one or two letters may be allowed in certain instances. NTS style is one such instance but it allows the words in, on, or over to be used within the drawing of another word, it doesn't let you write any letters you want just because you can't think how to draw the word properly. Please don't encourage letterwriters to migrate to the MishMash rooms, they won't be welcome.

I've often seen letters used in the 'pun' element of Mishmash. I believe this is also the type of thing Flopsy is referring to. Such as a letter S taking a nap, would be 'snap', or part of a T would be 'Party'. However, this is more of a fun way of using letters, rather than just writing the word or large parts of the word. It takes some thinking process for both artist and guesser and isn't akin to writing the word 'galley' because you don't know what it is.

Also, the Mishmash rooms are user-created and are not part of the rules of iSketch. To those who's want to write the word I caution you:

You are much more likely to find yourself kicked if you flout the rules in user-created than in a normal iSketch room. These people know the rules if they're playing. You can also find yourself kicked because you are deemed 'unworthy' before you even play. That's how it goes for UC. This is a thing frowned upon by most players, but it does go on. However, arguably, NS (N00b style) is the one to stick to if like the look of Mishmash and you're exactly that. It can allow for a multitude of sins, and be very funny while you introduce yourself to mishmash, which is available to anyone who'd enjoy it and can get their head around the ever-changing user-created draws.

I'd suggest anyone with a new-found interest in Mishmash start their own room with their friends and experiment together. In Mishmash, that is.

I'm sorry I was unclear. Letters are not encouraged in mish mash. Only while you are drawing NTS, or to write out the drawing style should letters be used. I mash on a daily basis and was merely stating that I see letters on 9 out of 10 drawings. All personal messages or NTS or writing of the style of course. Writing the word out is no to be encouraged in any room at any time.

I used to play in mish mash often. :) Again I liked how you could interpret your word differently, and it was encouraged. I don't play alot anymore...Maybe it's because nateman often populates that room.
