View Full Version : Amazon.co.uk shoppers
If you did any Christmas shopping at Amazon UK it's possible to get money back on items that have reduced in price. Read all about it here (http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?p=7757035#post7757035)

Thanks for the link BB:smile:
I ordered a book from one of the Amazon market place shops and when it had taken about twice as long as they had told me it would in an email they sent (saying that it had been sent and should arrive in X to Y days).
So I sent an email saying it hadn't arrived yet, and they told me it must have been lost in the post, but that was the only copy they had so I'll need to either pick a different book from them or get a refund.
The book arrived this morning, so: do I get a free new book/ free current book (refund) or do the upstanding, honest thing and do neither?????????

If there's a chance they can find out if the item was delivered to you, then don't. If there isn't, ask for the refund, buy a pizza and a 24.

Personally, if it was me, I'd send an email to say that I got it.. BUT.. I would complain again about the delivery time and hope that they'd offer me a refund, anyway. I did that once :) But mostly because when the book did come, I didn't need it :S They could quite easily say they won't give you a refund though, but it's good 'cause you feel like there is no cheating involved. Nothing to feel guilty about after.
Stroke of luck that we have a memorable/recognisable surname, I guess.
Too true, miss Guadaloupepotato.
If you haven't received the refund yet then you should probably do the honest thing and tell them...

Thanks BB. Policy is also good for Amazon US buyers. Just saved me $9.00 on a pair of shoes I got for Christmas. Should see refund in a few days on my bank statement.

If you dont feel guilty about keeping the current book AND getting the refund/another book, then I say, go for it.... otherwise, theres the obvious choice.

I decided to tell them I got it, but that it took 3 times as long as their maximum estimate, I was secretly hoping for them to offer me something but here's the email:
Thank you, we truly appreciate your patronage and value your business.

Rofl.. seriously? That's all they said?
Ouch. :| They gladly gave me a refund, but like I said.. it was because I no longer needed the book, lol. That probably was a heavy factor in my complaint, to be honest.
Ah well, at least you tried, and you were honest about it. :)
Oh, actually. My book was directly from Amazon. That's probably also why they gave a refund. I think Market Place companies would be harder to get a refund from as they work in the same way that eBay users do. Sort of.. As long as the item gets there (even if it does take a long time), they're okay with it. If it got lost, then they'd probably offer the refund (like they did originally).
Thanks for bumping the thread. I needed to buy a book from Amazon, but forgot :P
