If it's too much of a hassle, then Peter should just ignore that.. but I think it would be nice to introduce some more games if it's possible :)

Maybe a FAQ regarding games which don't work on certain players' computers?

Helicopter, Askiv and Chopper Challenge I think are the ones that don't work for me, even after installing things, uninstalling things, reinstalling things, clearing cahce and shouting a lot.

Aski has never worked properly for anybody as far as i know. The game runs and starts, but the screen is always black. Some will not work with newer versions of flash.

Sorry my mistake - I meant "Eskiv", the one with the moving shapes. I just get a vertical line in the middle of the play area.

I believe that is customizable when creating the tournament. Not sure what the max amount of days is, 7 is just by default.

In arcade tournys, people move up to the next level if they've got a higher score, not because they didn't keep refreshing their time limit.

So if someone plays first and gets a score that is higher than his/her competitor's 1st attempt, then the 1st player is not forced to play a redundant game because the 2nd player only played his/her first attempt on Day 6, because then it might just become a whoever-starts-second-wins kind of thing.

That's an excellent idea, but I'm not sure if it's possible. If not, perhaps tourneys with 3 day intervals instead of 7?

As for the deletion of clones, that would help a lot when making tourneys. But it might not be possible, since sometimes games need clones to work (that sounds stupid, but it's true ;/)

Erm, not a complaint or idea, but could a mod please send 2.0 onto the next round of Asteroids please? I didn't get to play my third go cos the game went white again, meh. well done 2.0, although I did expect your score to be a lot better than 8000 odd :p

Now that's how to put a positive spin on things :D ! Although it has shocked me that Pac-Man just went up in the air. But that can be expected, given the glitchiness of the arcade.

EDIT: Ahhh the Pac-tourneys Deadlock + I won aren't listed in our tourney wins either! Oh well... now I can just pretend that I was the on who won most of those tourneys ;)

In the process of trying to fix the arcade I may have, kind of, maybe, probably, undoubtedly deleted a couple of games. The scores are still there I just accidentally delete the game files! Don't worry though - I'm looking for wherever I kept the buggers on my HDD!

Did you check
a) that you actually scored higher than your highscore board score and
b) you haven't been logged out of the forum while playing (tick the box that says 'remember me' when signing in before you play Arcade games)

Trampoline Tricks 2:

The type of trick you are doing is on the right of the window, and can be changed by using the up and down arrows.

Left and right arrows to make him spin/move around.

More points for doing more spins before you hit the trampoline; you get less points each time you do the same trick again. You Lose points for landing on your head.

I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post my problem:

I'm having problems playing in the arcade on my laptop (using vista). I've been able to play fine on the desktop but I go to play a game while I am on the laptop and it says "additional plugins are required to display all the media on this page." I click on the install missing plugins button and download and it doesn't download it, so i end up downloading it manually. It says that the download is complete but when I try to go back to the game it send me through the same cycle again. Can anyone help me?

You might need to install it after downloading it.

I just realized that I'm only having that problem while I'm on firefox. I went on IE and I don't have anything pop up about plugin problems, it works fine. But I would prefer to use firefox, so can someone help me make it work with firefox?

Don't mean to sound ungrateful to the mods or admin.. but we'd like a lot of changes done to the arcade, and personally, I have a feeling that this thread is being ignored. If I'm wrong it in, then I'm sorry, and I do apologise, but if it is being worked on then it would be nice at least to get an update in this thread... :)

This isn't a complaint but more in the way of advice.

When I was new to the forum I didn't realise that you can only play a game twice per day before it doesn't register your new score. I played one really long game (I think it was Tritryst) and beat the high score at the time, only to find that my score was not going to be submitted as I had already played twice.

Maybe a message to say that you have already played a game twice before a new game is played would be helpful. :smile:

Maybe it's just a coincidence that it's happened to me on the third game every time.

I've had the same thing. I'm admittedly hooked on snake for some reason and it takes ages to get a good score, and then it comes up with the same message and doesn't save it, which is slightly frustrating! :razz:

if you tick the "remember me" thing when you type in your password, you shouldn't get timed out

I have a question about the arcade. What do the points on the leaderboard mean? What do I have to do to appear there even with zero points? :/

I don't know what you have to do to get on it with 0 points, but if you're top 10 in at least one game you'll definitely get on there.

In case you haven't figured it out yet, you get points for each rank you hold in the top 10 (first place gets 10 points, second place gets 9 points...etc, until tenth place gets 1 point). So go get a ranking, tiger! :razz:

Sounds to me like you need the Adobe Flash Player, you can download the installer for it here. (http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/) I'd try that because I've also found the firefox plugin installer to be quite useless when it comes to installing flash.

I believe this error can be avoided in two ways:



Make sure you have the 'Remember Me' box checked when you login.
After your score has been submitted successfully do not use the back button/shortcut to get back to the game, instead click one of the links to the game on the score page.

Thanks to everyone who reported games with issues :) I'll be doing a upgrade of the arcade soon as it's slightly out of date. I also have a whole bunch of new games that I can add.

Sorry it took me ages :( Let me know if there's any other problems with it I haven't covered.

Nice long list, I just tried out about 20 random games. They vary a lot in how good they are to play and how long I stay interested. One or two I sorta closed straight away cos they didn't make sense.

A couple require the same sorta thing, like Tiger Punch and Tiger Moth - Tiger Moth is less annoying. power up the things to whack something right in front of you.
Yankee go home is funny, you whack George Bush and see how far he goes, gets boring after about 10 shots though.
Suicide puppy is just a long distance game, give the pup some power, release him and he squishes him self into the ground, blood squirts out and the crowd cheer :eek:
Super fishing is better than that current slow fishing game we have in the arcade, it works faster and looks better :p
Tontie's good but quite a mission if you're a laptop user with only numbers in a row and not like an actual keypad - I guess in a way it makes it's a bit more challenging - It's basically whack-an-alien using numbers.
War on terror - well, I lost that cos apparently I shot too many innocent people, not my fault they were wearing hoodies - honestly!
White van man - drive away from the police and something about cars, I wasn't really paying much attention - I got nicked, w00p :smile:
Witch Hunt was just weird when it started so cba. I think the witch did this weird seductive belly dance O_o
Warthog launch was easy but got boring after a bit. You launch cars at warthogs and adjust the position, power and height the car launches.
Virus - the missile launcher thing moved too slowly, you have to blow up the planes dropping viruses on Earth.
Twelve swap and zoo keeper - you just switch the faces/animals to get three together then they vanish.

Nice long list, I just tried out about 20 random games. They vary a lot in how good they are to play and how long I stay interested. One or two I sorta closed straight away cos they didn't make sense.

A couple require the same sorta thing, like Tiger Punch and Tiger Moth - Tiger Moth is less annoying. power up the things to whack something right in front of you.
Yankee go home is funny, you whack George Bush and see how far he goes, gets boring after about 10 shots though.
Suicide puppy is just a long distance game, give the pup some power, release him and he squishes him self into the ground, blood squirts out and the crowd cheer :eek:
Super fishing is better than that current slow fishing game we have in the arcade, it works faster and looks better :p
Tontie's good but quite a mission if you're a laptop user with only numbers in a row and not like an actual keypad - I guess in a way it makes it's a bit more challenging - It's basically whack-an-alien using numbers.
War on terror - well, I lost that cos apparently I shot too many innocent people, not my fault they were wearing hoodies - honestly!
White van man - drive away from the police and something about cars, I wasn't really paying much attention - I got nicked, w00p :smile:
Witch Hunt was just weird when it started so cba. I think the witch did this weird seductive belly dance O_o
Warthog launch was easy but got boring after a bit. You launch cars at warthogs and adjust the position, power and height the car launches.
Virus - the missile launcher thing moved too slowly, you have to blow up the planes dropping viruses on Earth.
Twelve swap and zoo keeper - you just switch the faces/animals to get three together then they vanish.

I just googled them Deadlock. Most of the time it's pretty easy finding vBulletin arcade games that way. Figured I was bored so might as well try some out, see if there were any good strategy/puzzle games in the list - so far, not much luck :sad:
Besides, this way it might help if a poll happens to see what games should be added to the list and it picks up on games which have the same theme. Some work better than others and there's no point in having slow games in the arcade cos the chances are nobody'll play them.

Edit: Word Up's good. I can see that being very popular on here.

Spider Jump was just a spider jumping from rope to rope, got bored so didn't bother continuing.

My want list: Frogger has to be put in. Galaga would be good if it could be found, another classic. Bubble Bobble and Battle Zone too! If only ...

I think it's gonna be wayyyyyyyy too tedious to upload and test them individually (some of them are bound to not work) so here's the best way I can think of approaching it:

I'll upload like 20-50 games now, if people report the broken ones and rate the bad ones Ches and I can delete them. In a week or so I'll up another batch and the proccess can be repeated for those.

If there are any games anyone particularly wants off the list then I can just upload those as the requests come in...

I also discovered it's possible to sort the games into categories which would probably help organise the arcade a bit more...

Would it be possible to have two-player arcade games?

There were wisperings of such support but I've yet to see anything and I doubt such a game would be sustainable seeing as the person hosting it would be handling 1000s of connections from all the users from all the arcades across the web.

Can something be done about that best score of all time record, because eXy's scores were deleted but that one is remaining.

Not really a complaint but I'm guessing the scoring system is blatently screwed up. I've played Mahjong loads and judging by the times in the scores list, they are correct. I've roughly timed myself a few times while playing so I know it's right. But even though I've times of 3 minutes something I'm still not going up and I can't work out why. I clear the board and obviously there are no hints or swaps so what's going on? :sad:

I have never played it - the scores against my name are from my 7 yr old son.
But.....he was all excited cos he got a high-score......but when I questioned him about how he did it (as I had seen him leave the computer to go to the toilet) - he said all he did was sit on the sideline whilst he went......and left it a little longer....and the time just kept adding up ...............

So.....can someone (Peter/Ches/Mod) delete my score on that one - it really doesn't count. Seems a little silly really that you get point for just sitting on the sideline doing nothing.

Erm.. this isn't a complaint, as I dislike complaining about anything, just a suggestion per say. You know on the tournament screen it says:

player gets reminder after 3 days without playing

Am I the only one that doesn't get reminded, or does this happen to everyone? If I'm wrong then please let me know.
The only reason I ask is that it's slightly annoying waiting for people to play their turn. If some players are unaware that they may be disqualified, then it may cause annoyance to the both the inactive player for being eliminated and other people in the tourney having to wait. The best way, in my opinion, to remind someone would be in the form of a PM.

I remember NoHints asking whether the 'reminder' just meant that it goes red, because if so, that wasn't a very good reminder.

I'd like the idea of a PM or notification. I hope Peter will make it his next coding project :)

Can I suggest we get rid of these two games:

Makai Grand Prix 2. - see my post just up there (http://www.isketchforum.net/showpost.php?p=164402&postcount=109) The points are based on how long you drive around the track......but if you sit on the sideline......it just keeps adding up.

Mouse Kill - again, it's down to how long you could be bothered - there's no way to end the game except extreme boredom/RSI :rolleyes:

Ha ... boredom? You know nothing of boredom. I found a game on another site called "Hold The Button" and all you do is keep your mouse button held down for as long as possible. I managed around 8 minutes before I started to fall asleep. So I lodged the mouse in a drawer with the button held in and went to bed. Got up in the morning and had a high score of about 8 and half hours. Bustin hi scores in my sleep, innit!

Can I make a couple of suggestions for the Arcade:

If it is possible to set it up so that a player is automatically sent a PM once a certain event happens, can we send one to a competitor:
1. After 3 days of not playing their round
2. After 6 days, explaining they will be disqualified within 24 hours if they don't play
3. To all registered entrants when a tournament fills and is ready to start. Some tourny's take a long time to fill all spaces (eg Summer Games just filled after....a month or so?). People who have registered a few weeks ago may not realise it has started.

If this can't be automated, I wouldn't bother as I guess it is really up to the entrants to keep checking their tournaments.....but if it can be.....it may help limit the disqualifications from not playing, and speed the rounds up a little.

In absence of the automated system, if you refer to my post HERE (http://www.isketchforum.net/showpost.php?p=168775&postcount=192)I have taken on that role for the time being :)

It's not ideal, but at least it will help the tournaments run a bit quicker and avoid players being disqualified.

Thanks TF. This reminds me of the time where both Aless and me both forgot to play in the second round of the recent Turbo Turtle tourney. We were both disqualified simultaneously, but I went through to the final from the first round's points.

I would really like it if the bugs in the Arcade were cleared up w.r.t progression in tournaments.

db says that although he and Alessadri forgot to play in the semi finals of the Turbo Turtle (http://www.isketchforum.net/arcade.php?&do=viewtourney&tid=125) tourny, db got progressed based on his score in the first round

however in the Pacman tourny (http://www.isketchforum.net/arcade.php?&do=viewtourney&tid=113) when Deadpan got a higher score than MrsN in the first round (and then they both forgot to play the semi finals), MrsN was the one who got progressed.

Further to that, I got 68650 in that Tourney, Nerdy got Nil. We both end up disqualified, yet Nerdy went through? How's that work then?

Actually, come to think of it, progression might not depend on score, but on who has been waiting for less time...? If db got to the semis in turbo turtle after Alessadri then he would have been waiting for fewer days; and likewise with Pacman, maybe MrsN was waiting for fewer days? I don't know, it's speculation, but if it's true, then I think it should be changed. I know the 'timer' doesn't appear to start until both players have entered a round, but maybe it /is/ a time thing.

A suggestion for the arcade if you please(don't know if it's been discussed before).
When I am browsing games I can easily see the highscore and my personal best score, but only the highscore can been seen to the right of the gamescreen. Can a box be added for the current players personal best score because I often forget what I previously had when I am in game.
