View Full Version : Blocking? I don't understand why, or for how long...

Hiya,

I'm a big isketch fan. I have an 8 month old baby, and I played all throughout my difficult pregnancy, and now see isketch as the place I come to play and relax when I get the opportunity.

Today I got "blocked".

I was "voted to boot" in retaliation to the fact that myself, and another player (don't know their user name) first voted to boot two players who were cheating.

The offending players would be like, Player 1 would draw a completely unrelated picture. Noone in the room but Player 2 would get the answer. We tolerated it at first, but then it was very clear they were answer sharing, hence myself and another player voted to boot them.

Player 1 (offending player) then voted to boot ME in retaliation. What upsets me is I was the one blocked, yet I was only being responsible in voting to boot the players who were breaking the rules. As was the other player who voted to boot Player 1 & 2 out for cheating.

The message I received in the main lobby was "If you cause trouble again you will receive a permanent ban". Yet I tried to log back in and am ultimately blocked at this stage. It didn't say exactly what for, or for how long.

I never - use letters; - swear; - draw unrelated drawings; - draw rude drawings, and definitely was not being mean or harrassing anyone, was like I said, reporting people I felt to be breaking the terms and impacting the game negatively for everyone else.

What is more disappointing is earlier today (about say 3 hours ago?) we voted to boot 2 players who were drawing Nazi swastikas, unrelated drawings, scribbling all over the canvas, using racial slurs (I was called a Double N****r, with the offender's justification being "I'm black, I can call whoever I want to a N****r!), and swearing, calling people retards, etc. yet despite more than one person warning and voting to boot them, they remained in the game, so everyone else left the room.

Where's the policing on this, and why the crackdown on a mature, responsible player like me? Misses the mark a bit I think.

I emailed info@isketch however the response was automated, and says "if it's to remove a ban your chances are slim if any". Which is somewhat condecending to people who may have a genuine reason for querying their block.

So, anyone have any idea why I would have been blocked, and for how long?? There goes my peaceful Sunday afternoon whilst the baby sleeps! :P

Also, how can you tell the difference? It says I have been blocked. Is blocked different from banned? Temp/perm? How long for (no time was specified!) Confusing... And disappointing...

Hey there ickpick :)

You have done the right thing by emailing feedback, as that basically is your only way of addressing this issue formally. With respect to a block versus a ban - blocks are temporary and could be anything from a few hours to a few days. Bans are permanent.

Also - please don't forget that admin's are human too and can make mistakes. If what you say is an accurate account, then it looks to me like you were possibly blocked in error.

I do hope so. Yeah, possibly got confusing (me and other player both voting for 2 offending players)... might have looked like we all were. Hope it's not for a very long time... I'm unwell, so is the baby, and stuck in bed, was looking forward to a cosy night isketching!! :P

Thanks
