Wood!
Easier to clean and keep clean.
Lasts longer.
Adds value to the home.
In my opinion, more attractive and classier.
I have lived in a house with all wood floor and now in all carpet. It is so much easier to keep the wood floor clean!
Carpet may be softer, but you can get floor pillows to sit on.
Carpet may be cheaper, depends on your location. But really good quality carpet will be comparable to wood.
Carpet comes in pink... okay, I can't counter that. My bedroom when I lived in Ohio had the most gorgeous pink carpet! lol
You can sand down the wood and stain it pink before varnishing it again! We have wooden floors, I like them much better. Carpets never seem all that clean to me.
Wood is better. Carpets are not only hard to keep clean, they promote and host all kinds of allergy causing things.

Yes i hear you all, but in my downstairs living room/ pc room, i have wood flooring and where the computer chair is constantly moving across the wood, its left scuff marks really bad ones.
So this is one of my reasons for maybe going back to carpet.
Also in my main living room upstairs, i have wood and its also scuffing up with marks and i hate it, so yet again thinking of re carpeting it.
The only way to keep wood flooring in pristine condition is to buy real wood floors not laminated ones, and hell that costs the earth.
So im still thinking lol, give me some of your ideas on carpet will ya.

Carpet!!!
When I lived in Thailand, our flooring was all wood (real wood, varnished over).
It looked great.
My flat now is carpeted all over (except the kitchen and bathroom) and I love it! It's warm and soft and you can walk barefeet without feeling cold or getting them dusty. Also, then when you have people sleeping over and you don't have enough beds or sofas, they can just sleep on the floor with a sleeping bag! If you're reaaally tired after a night out you can crash on the carpetted floor as well with a bunch of cushions...how relaxed is that
Carpet all the way!

Lol ty storm, that sounds very comfty.
Well ive priced up real wood flooring against a good quality wilton carpet, and ive chosen the carpet, i know wood flooring is cleaner but i do want the softness back on my feet.
Plus i do love to sprinkle some shake and vac for some lovely smells when i hoover.
And it wont get marked up with chairs or furniture, only thing is stains from drinks ect, but ill cope with that, yet more hands and kness scrubbing, or a good steam clean every so often should combat that.
Thanks you lot. xxxxx:razz:

Our flat has a lovely blue-gray carpet. We've had our share of wild house parties and drinks have been spilt (often wine, too, so you can imagine the stains), but our carpet still somehow looks clean! After a thorough vacuuming it feeels clean too and looks fresh and just invites lying down on it all day and taking it easy...
We use the 'put salt over wine spilt' trick to keep it from staining too much. :p

OK so carpet is soft and warm, but stains and needs to be vaccumed. Wood floors are sleak but need polishing and sweeping, and are cold on the feets. We have both here and I honestly don't have a favourite. Variety is good!

On wooden floors things can break easier when dropped (hello almost broken Gameboy). Everything else I can think of has been said. Tough decision really. Unless you really need to convert to one type of flooring, both can live in harmony pretty well (can't they? =P). Like luvducks I have both where I live, and I don't have preference.

Both are nice, but I think I prefer wood for downstairs, and a snug carpet for bedrooms. Wood is very handy when you have young ones, I've lost count how many times my son has spilt vimto! In this house I live in now, its wood in the living room, tiled floor in the kitchen and small hallway. Upstairs all the bedrooms and stairs are carpet, and tiled floor in the bathroom.
Each household is different, and I suppose you have to choose what is more practical to your everyday needs. I like both, although I don't think I could have a cold wooden floor in my bedroom! It's even stevens for carpet and wood floor lol.

I've just moved to a new home. We used to have carpet all over and now everywhere there's wood flooring, even in the bedrooms. All I can say is that I'm SO much happier now. I don't get as stressed out as I used to about catching juice cups or not letting them use play dough as much as they want to. With younger kids, wood definitely seems the way to go. For the coziness factor, we just got really big adorable rugs for the girls' rooms which is so much more fun (especially when it has a pink castle and unicorns on it).
