Aw bless your cotton socks..........
It took me 9 years to complete part time - I just kept having babies and that kinda got in the way a bit.
Some memorable moments (other than the Graduation Ceremony this morning of course, which was fab - so much tradition):
* Getting invited to join Golden Key International after my first year of study
* Doing exams at what seemed like Week 50 of a pregnancy, waddling into the exam hall knowing if it was too hard I could just feign labour and do the exam later :P
* The poor boys in my tutes not knowing where to look when I would start breast-feeding a baby in front of them
* Meeting some really awesome people through group assignments
* Some fantastic lecturers who I will remember forever
* Mr Saff laughing at me for taking 'Logic' during one pregnancy (for those who don't know, women aren't particularly logical at that time due to all those hormones), only to have a quick email sent to him, very nicely telling him I got 91% and to STFU
* Falling asleep during some lectures when I'd been up with sick children the night before
* Having my kids sit through the Graduation Cerremony without (too much) fuss, and the lady who sat behind them made a point of coming up to us afterwards and saying how delightful they were throughout.
So, yay, I can now sign my name as:
Saffron (BComm)(BIS)
Oh and I forgot - I am so OVER studying.....but then got invited to do Honours from boht the Commerce and the Information Systems faculties.....so for a brief moment there....I considered re-enrolling.
Grats to you Saff! I can only imagine how it was...I haven't tried anything like that yet!

I only just saw this thread, so I wanted to say congrats to Saffron too, albeit belated.
And btw - omgpickheartflashbacks!
Omg, I didn't see this thread at all! >_< I read it thinking everyone was congratulating Saffron for her UPCOMING graduation in December and was confused by Sparrow's post "it's December 16th now" cos I thought he lost his marbles! Argh, I feel sooooooo stupid!! VERY late congratulations Saffron, after nine years that must feel like a massive achievement. Sorry I didn't see this thread, although it could have been because I didn't have my laptop for a month or so :(
And congratulations to Tigs!! You deserve to be happy :)

So, I'm not really sure which thread to post this, but...
Tonight I attended an Awards Ceremony....I got this notification from one of my lecturers last year that she had nominated me for this Award....and I had won it! ^^
So it's tonight, Tuesday at 5:30-7:30, when Miss 10 has her Extended Maths Class from 4:00 -5:00....so I pack food and colouring books etc for the little ones to get through the Maths Class, then Mr Saff picks them up and takes them home at 5:00, and Miss 10 accompanies me to this Awards Ceremony.
So I have to be dressed ready for the award thing when I pick up kids from school. Not having been involved in anything quite so prestigious for a while, I have to stop at the supermarket to buy some stockings to go with the clothes in my wardrobe that I haven't worn for years, but miraculously still fit after having 3 children.....and I get to school late, and go try to put the stockings on and bloody rip a hole in them o.O
So I get over this, we all go to the Maths class, and everyone is looking at me like "WTH are you so dressed up for...." and then Mr Saff takes the little ones home, and I take the eldest to the ceremony. She is whinging because she is hungry, and they bring out Orange Juice and Canapes, which she looks at in disdain. She's like "I want to go home....." and then they bring out sushi, so all is well!^^
I am about 4th on the Awards list, so she gets out the video camera. And OMG, everyone else, the people presenting the award say " winner of the nnnn award is blah blah blah" a nd give them their award. But cos the Personal Assistant to the person giving my award knows me, she has given all this info.....and the person gets up and talks about me for what seems like ages, and Im kinda writhing in my seat, and Miss 10 is video taping it all, and Im blushing like anything..and FINALLY they call me up to get the award. Luckily I convince Miss 10 to sit at the front so I could just jump up and shake his hand and quickly pose for the photo, rather than walking the length of the aisle. Gah, I was embarrassed :p and all Im thinking is I got a bloody hole in my stockings......
So Miss 10 video'ed it all, and insisted when we got home, on downloading it to the PC so everyone else could see it, and really all they saw was me blushing like a....well idk, whatever blushes a lot.
Oh yeh. And the award was $500, but the Head of School left the cheque in his office, so he will post it out..
LOL I'm kinda, idk....happy I won it, proud of me for doing well, entirely embarrassed at being the centre of attention for a few minutes, immensley pleased that my daughter saw me being recognised for doing well, happy that we got free sushi and wine at the ceremony ;) slightly annoyed at the Head of School for leaving the cheque behind, and trying to sink further into my seat at everyone looking at me.
I feel different posting it on here, cos people on here can congratulate me without having to look directly at me, and see me standing there blushing! :P:P:P
So yeh heh.
^^
Good one, Saffron :)
Congrats!!!!!

In preparation, I have been to Burtons and bought a cardigan, got a pipe from ebay, some slippers from marks and spencers, and a checkered rug and readers digest road atlas to put on the back seat and shelf of my car. Plus I think I might need to get a car with more than two seats

Make sure the wife has pleeeeeeeeeenty of time off work, she's definitely gonna need it - no more working stupid hours.
Good luck fella, you're gonna need it and these nine months are gonna feel like fooooooooorrreveeer. Want a son or daughter? Ooh, thought of any names yet?

It has 3 seats. Unusual for a car to have an odd number of seats.

Yeah the room was to be used as a nursery / playroom as we had applied to adopt! We wouldn't have gotten through the process until later in the year so we were taking the decorating slowly. But now theres a sort of urgency to get things done, even though we have until December 1st (approx) to get it all sorted. The room as you saw is white with wood, and there's going to be a fair bit of colour, shelves and furniture packed in there to jazz it up a bit.
Anyone know where I can buy a Renault Espace cheap?
We don't know if baby's going to be a boy or a girl yet, too early to define, I'd be happy just to have it healthy and hopefully not ginger (I was, when I was born!) ...
I'll definitely be adding to the New Addition to the Deadlock Family in the very near future, maybe an ultrasound picture would go nicely :)
