Urgh, I hate maths.
Decided I'll have a go, anyway.. but it's telling me I've already played for today O_o I've only played Saffy's iSketchForum one.. O_o

I guess that's coz you haven't registered for this one. Or, I guess you need to sign out of Saffy's and then sign in into mine...

I think I will try this log-in-log-out routine sometime in the morning tomorrow... I am all sleeeeepy now...

Capt_Sparrow
09-01-2009, 02:31 PM
The log-out-log-in routine didn't work for me. When I tried logging in, it said Invalid User/Password :s

db1986
09-01-2009, 02:31 PM
It does that for me as well.

Sorsie

Me too. If anyone finds a way around this (without having to create a new account please post :) )

09-01-2009, 02:47 PM
I've managed to log in, but it won't let me play.

I just clicked the above link to the Maths DailyTrivia while signed in to the other DailyTrivia currently run by Fender.

Not yet! You have already played today! Try again tomorrow!

I guess this means we can't play in both tourneys in the same day :( That sucks.

Edit: Also I can't post a comment :s

Sorsie
09-01-2009, 02:57 PM
Yeah I think we either need to make another account to play both, or.. I dunno. It's a bit odd you can't play both in one day.. :s

MrsNerdinator
09-01-2009, 03:03 PM
That's odd, 'cause I know for sure that AJ is part of two different challenges that she plays daily. It allows her to play no problem.

ILoveMaths07
09-01-2009, 03:14 PM
Yeah, I played both Saff's and mine today... It should allow you. You have to register... Try adding my number in that small box. Add Tourney #89542 to my list. It should work.

Capt_Sparrow
09-01-2009, 03:20 PM
Are calculators allowed? :p

ILoveMaths07
09-01-2009, 03:32 PM
Yeah, of course... In fact, you better have one. Coz I guess some questions will be too mathy n stuff... We'll know tomorrow!

Small box? How do you do that?

Capt_Sparrow

It's science too! You should've called it the OoooOOoooOOoooO quiz

Capt_Sparrow

Small box? How do you do that?
Go to the Maths quiz page, log out, then click on Create a New Account (or something along those words). You need to fill in the form again but you can use exactly the same Username, Password and email address as in the other quiz.

09-01-2009, 03:47 PM
Ah, I see. Thanks Birdy.

I thought that means registering a completely new account, which is against the rules of Daily Trivia. I guess it doesn't.

ILoveMaths07
09-01-2009, 03:48 PM
lol I had to throw in a few Science quizzes, as they can't exist without Maths... lol... just for a variety. Physics is an application of Maths. Chem needs Maths too. Astro has a LOTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT of Physics and Maths in it... Anyway, we have Maths on 4 days, and Science on 3 days.

That's odd, 'cause I know for sure that AJ is part of two different challenges that she plays daily. It allows her to play no problem.
That explains why Sparrow asked me how to do that on the iSketch trivia thingamabobby! I thought that was a random shout out :P

LOL... hahahhahahaa AJ? I've heard of this person b4... haven't seen her on iSketchforums though... or have I? HmmMMmMmmMmMmMMmmMmm...
Orly? You've heard of her before huh?

/me clicks and joins the dorky fun.
I'm good at the maths ones (hence my rather high percentage of "correct answers" if you check out my Funtrivia profile - although I am not AJ if you search me on FT) the only thing that worries me is the speed thing - I'm so out practice cos I'm not actually studying maths anymore, just the teaching bit now

11-01-2009, 12:56 PM
Did anyone else think that Cinderella question from yesterday was really out of place? lol. Why can't all maths questions be that easy? XD And I can't believe I got more right than AJ did. lmao

Edit: Although I'm sure for today 3/10 will be easy for her to beat -_-

Capt_Sparrow
11-01-2009, 01:06 PM
Haha I got the question, "Which number comes between four and six and is also the value of a Nickel?"
Do our cousins across the pond really need the second part of that question to get it right?

MrsNerdinator
11-01-2009, 01:09 PM

One of the three that I actually got right.. heh.

14-01-2009, 09:18 AM

From what I can see ILoveMaths07 has set the questions so we all get the same questions everyday. That's ok so doesn't bother me at all. But the maths questions are seriously taking the mick.
Because you've seleced "Maths" as the topic that day what FT has done, possibly by default, is it has search all questions on FT which requires numbers as answers or asks about the number of something... these, afaik are not the normal maths questions.

If you play FT regularly or have browsed their website, you'd have seen that there are questions where they tell you to integrate, diffeerentiate, solve things, work out equations, factorise and use all sorts of algebra. These are the maths questions I'd like to see because right now it just feels like dodgy general knowledge to me. Just my opinion. That said, I still enjoy these quizzes

Capt_Sparrow
14-01-2009, 03:56 PM
Yeah some of them aren't too mathsy but most of them require some mathematical knowledge. Does the winner at the end of the month get to choose the next month's categories?
afaik are not the normal maths questions.
What on earth does that mean??

ILoveMaths07
14-01-2009, 04:28 PM
LOL I thought you rocked at English, Capt_Sparrow, and you don't know what afalk means? Umm... Guess what... I don't know either!

Well, while defining the custom category, Maths, I had to type in "Maths" and "Math" in the search box. And I got all sorts of quizzes, from calculus and probability and statistics to something as simple as Numbers for Kids. I did not select questions related to both Maths and Baseball, i.e. I tried to ensure that all questions on the quiz are from the Maths sub-category in Sci/Tech. So don't worry... I got a really mathy question the other day. It's probably a matter of luck... We've been getting the kiddy ones until now. We'll get the mathy ones soon. If this is still the case, I'll get rid of certain categories that may seem too simple.

And, no... All of us do NOT get the SAME questions; a couple of questions are different for all of us.

Capt_Sparrow

LOL I thought you rocked at English, Capt_Sparrow, and you don't know what afalk means? Umm... Guess what... I don't know either!
As far as I know, afaik is not in the dictionary ;)

ILoveMaths07
14-01-2009, 04:31 PM
It's afalk, not afaik. Consult your dictionary again.

And she says she hates stuff like text speak. This is no better :P

*AJ*
14-01-2009, 05:10 PM
Hahaha, you nutters! Funnily enough I was gonna say "...as far as I know (afaik)..." in case you lot wouldn't know. Any no, nerdy, it's not really text chat, it's an abbreviation. You guys might be asked that in some of the quizzes too ;)

They ask what brb, afk, afaik, ttyl and so on mean; you're welcome

I have to say, this is the best daily challenge I've taken part in thus far.

Or they might ask, "What's afaik an example of?" and the answer would be Acronym ;)

ILoveMaths07
15-01-2009, 08:02 PM
The Cinderella question and the Nickel one were both from 'Numbers for Kids', I guess... lol.
I'd consider AFAIK to be more of an abbreviation than an acronym, unless you decide to pronounce it as A-FAKE.
Yeah, I've seen repeats, too...:cry::cry:

Capt_Sparrow
15-01-2009, 08:19 PM
I'd consider AFAIK to be more of an abbreviation than an acronym, unless you decide to pronounce it as A-FAKE.
Well it is an abbreviation in the sense that it is a shortened form of "as far as I know" but because it uses the first letter of each word, it is also an acronym. You don't have to say it like a word for it to be an acronym, e.g. BBC (bee-bee-see) is an acronym even though you say each letter.

And thanks for posting on this thread 'cos it's reminded me that I haven't played this today

Aw, Miss 10 went to the University today for a special 'Maths Extension' class - supposed to be for first year High School students, but they accepted her even though she doesn't start high school for 2 years.

I sat in with it to see what it was all about - meh, she seemed to know it all, and I couldn't remember most of it!!

Maybe I should get her to answer these Q's o.O
