db1986's Halloween Tournament!
Hey everyone :)
I've been thinking that it has been while since we had a competition on the forum, so I have decided to organise a Halloween themed tournament. As Halloween weekend will probably be a busy weekend (it is for me anyway) what with social activities like parties and maybe a spot of trick-or-treating going on, I'm thinking to have this tournament at sometime during the week after Halloween (first week of November ish).
Anyway, I have thought of a few details (and borrowed some ideas from a Portuguese friend) about the tournament, but if you guys have any other suggestions, feel free to post them. Depending on how many people are interested and when they are free, we'll have either a one-day tournament or a "2 heats and a final" setup. If we play a one-day tournament here's how it will go.
Room Details
The room will be user-created and made invite-only.
The number of games will be one less than the number of participating players.
The number of rounds in each game will be organised so that each participating player draws twice during each game.
Each game will simply be a normal game of iSketch using the Easy wordlists.
Each game the wordlist will alternate between UK Easy and US Easy.
Guests are allowed to join the room to watch but should remain on "/away" during the active parts of the tournament.
Gameplay Details
Each player should try to score as highly as possible. The person with the lowest score at the end of each game will be eliminated.
If there is a joint last place with at least 5 players still in the competition, both players will be eliminated.
If there is a joint last place with fewer than 5 players still in the competition, neither player will be eliminated and the gameplay continues as normal.
Eliminated players will become guests and are free to continue watching the tournament on "/away".
During your turn at drawing you may "Hint" and press "Done", but you may not SKIP.
As the theme is Halloween, try to include a Halloween theme to your drawing. Although this isn't necessary, it will add to the fun!
When only two players remain in the tournament, the gameplay will be slightly altered and played as follows:
Final Two Players
The final wordlist will be Halloween.
All the eliminated players draw once in the final game and only the two remaining players may guess.
The player with the highest score once every eliminated player has drawn wins the tournament.
Guests are allowed to join in and draw like the eliminated players if they openly request to.
It will be arranged that an odd number of players will draw in this part of the competition so that a definitive winner can be decided.
If we have a "2 heats and a final" arrangement, we'll probably go for the top 3 or top 4 from each heat go through to the final, again depending on how many people sign up.
If you would like to join this tournament, sign up here with your available dates. If you have any queries or suggestions, feel free to post them here as well :)
