As may or may not have been noticed, I have a pretty good collection of thousands of emoticons. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a97/ProofReader/Emoticons/ForumMember-ani.gif
I'd really love to share some of them with the forum if the Orange People would like to revamp the existing, somewhat limited collection of emotes/smilies? Perhaps, with permission, I could start a poll and see which ones folks like best? http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a97/ProofReader/Emoticons/Dunno-grin-ani.gif

I like that idea, though I'm not sure how custom emotes work with upgrades to the vBulletin software etc. People were pretty excited when the Halloween theme came out - so maybe a little image makeover might be timely. Get some of those pics from the iSketch Gallery out on view, for example, spruce up the emotes, chuck another shrimp on the barbie.....
I must admit though, I'm a bit fond of some of those emotes - I've mentioned before I think how the  goes all alien-like when you highlight it (you just tried it, didn't you.....)

The new emoticons would be fab  I wouldn't think that the green or orange people would mind you starting a poll, however they will be able to give you more poll options.

So we have colorful people in here?
I'm only brownish...
lol
ProofReader means the admins, their names are in orange. Mods are the greenies. :)
Admins have the power to change some aspects of the forum software but i'm not sure they can change this one aspect as the software is a package bundle, but i have no idea... would have to wait for them to reply.

I think it looks all the more Eek-ish when you highlight it!
Yes new emotes would be a splendid addition, if possible. I'm still enjoying the Halloween background

Oh, I didn't mean to replace the existing emotes, Saffy; just add to them. You'd get a "more ..." link at the bottom of the existing emotes which, when you click on it, opens a new little window with all available emotes.

Guess so, DB, but there's no point in having a poll if the orange people don't want to update the emotes. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a97/ProofReader/Emoticons/winking70.gif

In my (reasonably extensive) experience of being an admin on various types of fora, 2.0, these things are usually fairly easy to do. http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a97/ProofReader/Emoticons/Grin2-ani.gif http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a97/ProofReader/Emoticons/Yu-ani.gif

Good point, I never thought of that :embarrassed: but it does seem that people are interested in your idea PR.

I don't have a problem with adding new emoticons but I'd like to keep them kinda uniform with the once with have now (shame shading and anti-aliasing). I also have a massive pet peeve for emoticons that go over board and take up loads of room but more like this http://i9.photobucket.com/albums/a97/ProofReader/Emoticons/Grin2-ani.gif would be just fine IMO. Although I might have to photoshop out the hair, lol.
If there was a big enough demand for big/pixelated/over-animated emoticons I'd implement them but I really don't wanna have to, lol.
I like the little smileys! More of them would be great!

I'm with Peter on that I'd like the emoticons to be uniform with the ones we have now. And, I'd rather the new ones were customized to match our current ones than the the current ones replaced...
I don't know, I've seen the kind of emoticons PR has, on other forums, and they seem to get royally abused. At least 3 emoticons per sentence, and too much animation :s ...I'm simple, me. :D
