I've been playing iSketch on and off for a few months now, but there are still so many things I don't get. I feel like a n00b because I can't find the answers.

1) Does signing in even do anything? If someone else signs in on my computer, they keep my information. So does entering a name a password do nothing?

2) I've played more than 10 games, so why can't I warn people? I don't see that button anywhere.

3) When I try to get in a room, sometimes it tells me that I can't enter because someone else from my location is in the room. Why? Can I not play with people from my own city? state?

4) Teams: What are they good for?

Okay. Those are my biggest issues. Figured I'd ask them here because if I could get iSketch answers anywhere it'd be the iSketch help forum! ^_^

Hello! And welcome to the forums. I can answer some of your questions, I'm sure others will have extra info too, so check back.

1) Signing in. You don't need a password to sign in, unless you have a reserved name (usually admin and a few registered players). All your playing data and profile data is stored on your local computer, so if I signed in with a different name on your computer, it would still show your profile and your stats. If you signed in under your normal name on a different computer, then it would not show your profile or stats, you would in effect be a new player. The name you sign in with is not stored anywhere other than in the sign-in page, and can be changed by simpy typing over it.

2. As far as I know, and I could be mistaken here (I have heard different things) - there are two things that happen after you have played a certain number of games/hours. After 10 games you should lose your Newbie dot. Then a second thing is that you get certain priviliges such as warning people. These do not necessarily happen at the same time from what I understand.

3. "Someone from your location" means your IP address. The message is probably coming up because you may have a dynamic IP, or someone else is playing with a similar IP address? It could also be that someone else on your network is in that room, as networked PC's have the same IP address. I think other forumites may have more info on this one.

4. Teams are a way of competing. You can create/join a team to play against other teams in the room. They are sometimes used in Team Tournaments that are specific games that are set up by players.

2) type /stats it will tell you how long you have been playing. If it says today is your first day... you are going to have to adjust your cookies.. (ask one of the experts here how..)

To add to what Saff and smiliekiwi said... if you're getting the 'first visit' message constantly (it updates itself every 24 hours), you'll need to fix your cookie settings.

These instructions (http://www.simplyisketch.com/index.php?action=printpage;topic=299.0) were posted by Flopsy at SimplyiSketch. I think her instructions work, because it worked for me when I tried it, and an admin on iSketch linked me to it.

The last time I logged on to iSketch at uni, I got my voting privileges after approximately 12 games.
You will know when you get these privileges because you will get a message in the chat box in red bold font that reads something like this:

Congratulations! You have become an iSketch regular. In order to promote a self-policing site you have been given the privilege of voting other players.

I don't remember the entire message, but that's the gist of it.

Edit: The voting button is usually located above the sketch box. If you can't locate this yellow triangle warning button, you might need to refresh the room.
You can either click "Settings" during the game and then just click done, or just leave a room and join either the same room or another and it should appear.

Hmm yes. 10 games is just a rough guide.. It took me like a day to lose my newbie dot and get my rights back when I had my stuff reset. You just have to be patient with that one really.

I think saffs explained the rest of it pretty well :D But yeah, teams are good for like.. competitions between players going into groups -shrugs- Sometimes you can get a good team game going in user created rooms... -thinks back to the game of emos vs emus and of course tourneys run here- ahhh good times. :)
