To make the rules completely clear
and not run out of time
I’m going to explain the rest
without the use of rhyme.
(and can all green and orange people please turn a blind eye to double posting just this once (or twice) , so I can keep all this clear……….kthnks^^)
Here is what you need to do:
You must create a picture, incorporating as many of the words from Stage 1 as you can, according to the following rules:
The picture must be BP style – that is, the words must be incorporated into one Big Picture, not separate.
You must use a minimum of two words
A minimum of ONE word must be incorporated using one of the images you sent me
A minimum of ONE word must be drawn by yourself
General forum rules apply with regard to appropriate pictures
Clarifications of the rules – please post questions on anything I don’t cover and I will add them here.
You must use at least one of your images in your picture. You may crop the image to make it part of your picture if necessary, but it must be obvious that it is the same image. (Example of minimum required: You can draw a fox, and then place your image of ‘apple’ in the fox's mouth to show the fox eating an apple.)
Words and letters are allowed if they assist in the understanding of your picture. Written words, however, will not count as having incorporated that word. For example, you can not use your image of ‘sand’, and draw someone writing ‘queen’, ‘apple’ and ‘saffron’ into the sand.
Even though QUEEN was excluded from the points in Round 1, it is still part of the game and can be used in this round.
For those that got one or more answers wrong, you need to use the CORRECT answer as part of your BP. Correct answers are : SAND, APPLE, QUEEN, FOX, LLAMA, FANTASY, RACECAR, STAR, ORANGE, NIKES, SAFFRON and DR PEPPER. Explanation of the answers are posted here (http://www.isketchforum.net/showpost.php?p=140137&postcount=1).
You MUST use the images you submitted in Stage 1 for ANY images that represent the 12 words. If you did not submit an image because you didn't get the answer - you may choose any image that represents the word, OR draw the word. You may also use other images in your picture if they are not representing one of the 12 words.
Your hand-drawn parts of the overall picture can be ANY depiction of the word - you do not need to draw the image you sent. For example, if you sent in an orange citrus fruit as your image for ORANGE, you do not have to draw an orange citrus fruit in your Big Pic - you can colour another part of the picture orange instead. It is only where you use images in your overall picture that they need to be the images you submitted for Stage 1.
You may submit more than one entry. (yes this has been asked ;P) I will use the entry that gains the highest amount of points as your score for this Stage.
Creativity is encouraged. This can take the form of artistic interpretation, black and white drawings, psychadelic flashing neon drawings, animated images, puns or any method that gets your idea across, that is in a format that this forum supports.
__________________________________________________ ____________
SCORING FOR STAGE 2:
You will get 2 points for creating a picture according to the rules.
You will get 1 point for every word you use in your picture (providing they are drawn BP style and not separately).
Bonus Points will be awarded:
You will get 4 bonus points if you incorporate 6 or 7 words.
You will get 6 bonus points if you incorporate 8 or 9 words.
You will get 10 bonus points for incorporating 10 or 11 words
You will get 16 bonus points for incorporating all 12 words
The maximum points you can score from this round is, therefore, 30 (ie using all 12 words entitles you to only the 16 point bonus, not the others as well).
My example above would be worth 4 points (2 points for creating a picture according to the rules, and 2 points for using 2 words)
Revised closing date is:
TUESDAY 11 NOVEMBER 2008 - 6:00am my time - EDT (UTC + 11)
This is equivalent to:
Monday 10 November 8:00pm in the UK (BST: UTC +1)
Monday 10 November 12:00 noon in USA West Coast (PDT: UTC-7)
Monday 10 November 2:00pm in USA Central (CDT: UTC-5)
Monday 10 November 3:00pm in USA EAst Coast (EDT: UTC-4)
Send me the picture via PM, along with which words you have used (so’s I don’t miss any or I may not give you the points for them!)

Can we draw extensions of our pictures? Like we have the head of the llama... can we give it a body?
Also, how exact must our hand-drawn rendition of a pic be? Just enough to recognize that it is a copy of the pic? But we can take out a few details so long as it's recognizable? Can we change the colour scheme?
/me is très excited!

Oh i was wondering do we have to draw the word as it was shown in the picture we sent you or can we do it in another way, like if we sent you an orange liek fruit could we instead just colour stuff in orange?
Saffron
22-10-2008, 02:09 PM
Can we draw extensions of our pictures? Like we have the head of the llama... can we give it a body? Yes. So long as the head of the llama is recognisable as the image you submitted, the hand drawn part of your picture can include anything else.
Also, how exact must our hand-drawn rendition of a pic be? Just enough to recognize that it is a copy of the pic? But we can take out a few details so long as it's recognizable? Can we change the colour scheme? Your hand-drawn parts of the overall picture do not need to be a copy of the image you submitted - they can be anything that depicts the word in order to fit it into your Big Pic. It is only if you use images that you need to use the images you submitted for Stage 1.
/me chuckles at an orange llama ;)
Oh i was wondering do we have to draw the word as it was shown in the picture we sent you or can we do it in another way, like if we sent you an orange liek fruit could we instead just colour stuff in orange? Good question, Belli - I think I answered that just now to storm. I will put that in the general clarifications in the original post.
Oh, BTW, I have one creation submitted already, and it rocks ^^
storm
22-10-2008, 02:16 PM
Editing the colour of a pic counts as hand drawn?
Using your example: say we use the pic of a llama, and photoshop it so it has an orange tint - this means we have done both llama and orange and get full points for both?
Saffron
22-10-2008, 02:24 PM
oo-er tech-ni-cal-i-ties ^^
I would say that is OK. You would need to tell me in your submission that that is how the word is depicted, else I might miss it. Cos, as you have seen, attention to detail is my forte.
Using your example: say we use the pic of a llama, You obvioulsy meant the fox, storm, my example of THE FOX ..........

Do we have to colour our pics? Or is black and white fine?
You can use black and white - just remember though that you must use at least one of the images you submitted for Stage 1.
And do we get bonus points for artsy? :( Creativity is encouraged.
Can we use puns? Yes.
I know its says we can use letters and words but if you right a word it doesnt count but is it ok to have one of the words written and also have it in the picture as well? :( cos i wasnt sureeee :( Yes. Entrants need to depict the word graphically in some way - that is what will get you the point(s), however if you want to use words in your overall picture that assist in how you are getting your overall idea across then that is OK.
I have added these and the previous clarifications to the original post - can people who are entering please make sure they read that post and are clear on the rules. kthanks^^

...
You MUST use the images you submitted in Stage 1 for ANY images used in the creation of your picture. ...
So does that mean that we cannot use non-treasure hunt images in the BP? E.g. a fox in a kennel eating an apple - can we get a pic of a kennel off google? Or must we draw it?
The more I read the rules, the more confused I become...
Saffron

Hmm. Does this mean that we cannot use images for other parts of the pic? E.g. a FOX in a kennel eating an apple - can we get a pic of a kennel off google?
The more I read the rules, the more confused I become...
AH OK, I've changed the wording of that - thanks.
What I meant was: if you are using an image to portray one of the 12 words, you must use the image you submitted in Stage 1. The example you use above is fine.

24-10-2008, 09:17 PM
Huh? Wait... I still don't get this.
Can I copy/paste JUST ONE of the pics I sent to you in my BP and draw the other 11 on my own...? I mean the other 11 are not the pics i sent to you, and look nothing like them. Is that fine?
storm
24-10-2008, 10:20 PM
This stage .is. a little more complex...
Hope this helps:
Huh? Wait... I still don't get this.
Can I copy/paste JUST ONE of the pics I sent to you in my BP and draw the other 11 on my own...? ...
...
You must use a minimum of two words
A minimum of ONE word must be incorporated using one of the images you sent me
A minimum of ONE word must be drawn by yourself
...
As I understand it, yes - you can copy/paste 1 and draw the other 11.
... I mean the other 11 are not the pics i sent to you, and look nothing like them. Is that fine?
...
Your hand-drawn parts of the overall picture can be ANY depiction of the word - you do not need to draw the image you sent. For example, if you sent in an orange citrus fruit as your image for ORANGE, you do not have to draw an orange citrus fruit in your Big Pic - you can colour another part of the picture orange instead.
...
So again, yes - when you're drawing you can re-interpret the word.

And I ended up completely changing my idea to what I wanted originally. It's funny how much a picture can change when you actually start to get drawing..
What was your hardest word to incorporate from those you chose to use? I think mine was saffron.

Just a reminder to those who haven't submitted their entry for Stage 2 - the closing time for this is.....less than 24 hours away (http://www.isketchforum.net/forum-treasure-hunt-t2741.html).
If people need more time, please PM me - the polls have taken longer than I expected and don't close for another 4 or 5 days, so there is a bit of leeway for extending the closing date for the Big Pic too, if needed.
Actually, if everyone who entered the first round that hasn't submitted something for the Big Pic round could PM me with an indication of whether they will be submitting something, that will make it easier for me to keep track too.

Actually - 3 people have asked for extensions due to exams and other reasons, and I'm in the midst of exams as well, so I'm going to extend the due date.
The polls have been irritating me, can't seem to get them to work without problems - this last one (Num 10 that 2.0 has locked until he hears from me) - I double-checked all the links before I sent the PM to the mods, and I cross-checked the images against who had submitted them to make sure it was all fine, and one of the links died in between me sending it, and 2.0 posting it  So, the polls are going to take longer than I anticipated - most will close on or around the 9 November.
After all the polls close, I will PM everyone who entered with their score to date, so you can double-check that I have scored you correctly. It is only after that, that I will be ready to put up the Final Stage.
So, I can't see any reason not to extend the due date for lodging the entry for Stage 2. If anyone rushed their entry to get it in on time and wants to submit a revised entry, this is fine - I said at the beginning that multiple entries can be submitted, and would just take the highest scoring one into account for your points.
For those that have submitted early and have been waiting ever so patiently - thank you for your continued patience and understanding ;)
The new closing date is therefore:
TUESDAY 11 NOVEMBER 2008 - 6:00am my time - EDT (UTC + 11)
This is equivalent to:
Monday 10 November 8:00pm in the UK (BST: UTC +1)
Monday 10 November 12:00 noon in USA West Coast (PDT: UTC-7)
Monday 10 November 2:00pm in USA Central (CDT: UTC-5)

*blinks* Blimey. It's alright, I have another idea for a new comp when this is over :P
Why do I have a feeling Stage 2 is just a waste of time and has nothing to do with the treasure?
LOL. Well, as I explained in another message somewhere - the treasure has already been found:
Stage 1 - finding the pictures to the clues was like finding the gemstones/treasure. Some people found gemstones in the rough - but others found gemstones of more value (ie were a little more creative in finding pictures) - hence the bonus stage of the polls to select the more valuable treasure.
Stage 2 - is like putting the treasure together to create a masterpiece - like setting the gemstones into a piece of jewellery.....
Stage 3 - well, that's to come soon.
Perhaps 'Treasure Hunt' might have not been the best description for the competition, but it worked for me at the time

I feel like I'm going around in circles...
The treasure is the answer to the riddle. So if you check the answers to the riddles, you will know whether you found the right treasure or not.
You will note that Saffron said that 'treasure hunt' is probably not the best name for the competition...
The treasure has already been found because the riddles have already been solved, but the competition has become more than a 'treasure hunt' now.
I hope this clarifies things.

Also, to make narrow it down a bit more for you, LoveMaths, we've been given polls to vote on to get points.. and that's how saffron will distinguish who wins the treasure hunt (even though only stage 1 was 'treasure hunty'-fied).
You asked what is the treasure and what do we have to find. There is nothing left to find (unless saffypoo has another plan :P) I think it's just going to end on who gets the overall most points from all stages :)
