I learned yesterday, yeah not today but it's too early, that some people will argue with you until the cows come home for the sake of it and it's better to take the high road and just close the argument yourself.

I learnt that crappy Dutch pilseners and a bar with too many trashy 16 year olds can still make a decent night out --better than sitting at home.
Though I still wonder WHY one of my friends always likes to go to such places!
I also learnt that you can still be drunk when you wake up.

(All right, I knew both of these things already...)

But man, some places need better beer.

Today, I learnt that things aren't always what I see and I may feel paranoid but it's better to ask outright instead of just seeing it how I am. If that makes sense!

We no longer have greenies (well.. we have a shrivelled up old greenie yoda thing ) - but we do infact have two wonderful green goddesses

I also learnt that Mr TF is a mad driver and should be banned forthwith from the roads (dozy thing)

I learnt more today!
I went out cycling, and I found this tiny little cycle lane which was pretty overgrown. It let me to beautiful moorlands and forests with lakes, high grass and other pretty things (and a good looking jogger).

I thought I knew the area I lived in! This was really JUST behind the German border (hence the tiny cycle lane being the only entrance from my country). It's sandwiched in between the border and a military airport, which is why I never found it.

BUT IT'S SO BEAUTIFUL! I lay down on the bank of one lake in the high grass. Was slightly breezy, 25°, lovely day... Man, so perfect!

I wanted to move abroad because explorer-me was bored with having seen every bit of nature and every town in a wide circle around my house, but I can't believe I never knew of this!

I want to share it with a special person. Was such a lovely place!

But then I will move away, 'cos there's more to this world...

So what have I learnt? Don't ignore that one road that doesn't look too interesting, and look out for overgrown cycle lanes; I thought I'd ended up in another dimension!

Here's a photo -- not mine (what I saw was even better, but this I also saw: http://www.album.de/bild/38185/tevener-heide-natursee.cfm )

Today I learned that even though the school holidays have started and for the last umpteen years this has meant bugger all traffic on the motorways, and a clear run in to work; you can always bank on some incompetent eejits who couldn't drive a nail into a watermelon, to stuff up a glorious sunny Sydney winter morning, by crashing and then having all the other muppets drive slowly by, gawking at them.

Maybe that should be in RC - but I learned that I really need to leave home earlier anyway.

Much like bodies...

I learned that prices always end in '.99' or something ridiculous in shops to ensure that change was needed in most cases, thereby forcing any less than honorable shop assistants to put transactions through the till. I thought it was for 'psychological pricing', but every day's a school day.

i learned that it's really not that hard to break into someone's car.

no, i didn't steal a car, or anything for that matter. my dad locked the keys in the car. the mechanic wedged open the door, stuck in a hook and unlocked it. scary to think that someone can take your car so easily. of course, it'd be harder without keys...

i also learned that keeping the keys in the ignition drains the car battery.

Yeah like Bell said. Depends where you are going and how you look at it really. There are different types of heat too - hot dry heat in summer - hot wet heat in the tropics - humidity is a killer. TBH - nobody really ventures over to her side of the island.

Although what the Brits call a heatwave - we refer to as f♥♥king freezing.

Some things you may need to know about your visit to Australia, besides being Gods great garden and a real paradise on earth:

SNAKES: Australia has more deadly species than any other country, with the worst three being the taipan (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Taipan) also known as the Fierce Snake (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fierce_Snake), the tiger snake (http://www.australianfauna.com/tigersnake.php) and the death adder (http://www.amonline.net.au/wild_kids/reptiles/death_adder.htm). Since the 1970s around 300 Australian snake-bite victims a year have been injected with antivenom and two or three people die every year because they don't get the antivenom in time. Oh and for the record, Australia is also home to 9 of the top 10 most venomous snakes in the world. Some of the others are the red-bellied black snake (http://www.australianfauna.com/redbelliedblacksnake.php) and the brown snake (http://www.australianfauna.com/brownsnake.php), the copperhead snake (http://www.tigerhomes.org/animal/australian-copperhead.cfm), the king brown snake (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pseudechis_australis)and a range of sea snakes too.

SPIDERS: We also have a range of spiders such as redback spiders (http://www.amonline.net.au/spiders/dangerous/redback/index.htm), funnel-web spiders (http://www.amonline.net.au/spiders/dangerous/funnelweb/index.htm), mouse spiders (http://www.amonline.net.au/spiders/dangerous/mouse/index.htm)and white tailed spiders (http://www.amonline.net.au/spiders/dangerous/white_tailed/index.htm) - all of which can either make you very sick or kill you if you don't get to a doctor with anti-venom in time.

KANGAROOS: Eastern Grey Kangaroos are quite tame and you can find them in petting zoos. You will need to watch out for the kangaroos though. Big Red Kangaroos can be 18 feet tall, with nasty big pointy teeth and everything. It's not unusual to see a mob of them violently attacking wombats in the back streets of Sydney.

DROP BEARS: (http://www.cfr.com.au/dropbears/)Drop bears can be especially dangerous to buchwalkers, when walking through the bush, keep your wits about you. They will fall or drop out of a tree and land on your head. More people die from these "attacks" than are actually reported.

AUSTRALIAN PARALYSIS TICKS (http://medent.usyd.edu.au/fact/ticks.htm): The world's most infectious tick, found in bush areas in the Eastern part of the Australian continent, feeds on human blood and has killed about twenty people this (20th) century. This tick contains a toxin in its saliva that may cause progressive paralysis in humans. It may also cause severe allergy in some individuals.

CROCODILES: In northern Australia be aware there are crocodiles in the water. Watch for warning signs. These buggers are hungry too.

DUCK BILLED PLATYPUS: - You'd never know it but the platypus can cause a lot of grief. Tucked away on the back legs of mature males are a pair of short spurs each hooked-up to a venom gland that makes a viciously painful toxin.

Platypus spurrings of humans are rare, but the select group who have survived the trauma (often fishermen trying to free the angry little buggers from their nets) report pain strong enough to induce vomiting which can persist for days, weeks or even months. The pain is resistant to morphine and other pain-killing drugs and anaesthesia of the main nerve from the spur site is often the only way to relieve the patient's suffering.

BULL ANTS or BULLDOG ANTS (http://www.ento.csiro.au/ecowatch/Primary/hymenoptera/pages/bulldog.htm): The most dangerous ants in the world, they are big , up to 4 centimetres long (see dotted line for comparison):

[----------------- !] They have long mandibles to grip their victim while injecting their sting. They are found all over Australia and are held responsible for three deaths, the latest a Victorian farmer in 1988.

Considering the beach?

SHARKS: The species most likely to attack humans in Australian waters are the whaler (or bull) shark, the white pointer (or great white) shark and the tiger shark. There have been about 400 deaths from shark attacks in Australian waters this century, but a swimmer in Australia is 50 times more likely to die from drowning than from a shark bite

BLUEBOTTLES: (http://www.amonline.net.au/factsheets/bluebottle.htm) Not fatal, but a serious summer nuisance, these jellyfish inflict painful stings from their long tentacles. They are sometimes blown onto beaches in clusters by strong winds.

BOX JELLYFISH (http://www.jyi.org/features/ft.php?id=189): They are almost transparent, with sticky stinging tentacles three metres long.

BLUE RINGED OCTOPUS: (http://www.earlham.edu/~sheedjo/blue-ringedoctopus.htm)Found all round the coastline, they are only a couple of centimetres across, but their beaks are full of venom which can paralyse and kill within 12 hours if the victim is not given artificial respiration. There have been only two confirmed killings this (20th) century by blue-ringed octopus (which are actually brown until they get angry).

STONEFISH (http://www.australianfauna.com/stonefish.php): If you are walking in the water at a beach in the northern half of Australia, hope you don't tread on a stonefish, which sits on the bottom and will inject you with one of the 13 poisonous spines along its back.

Anyway - I hope you learned a little more about our native fauna for your impending trip.

I learnt many things today.

I've learnt how they don't mold soap as a liquid, but as a solid. I learnt how they make Avon bubble bath and I learnt that when they make tights, they make the tights in white and then dye them right at the end, I always thought that they started off with the colour of the tights...

Oh and I learnt out they make hearing aids.

I've also just learned the thunder can be louder htan I@ve ever heard it before

I wonder if I gave the British Consulate back a loaf of bread to compensate for what my ancestors stole and got deported for, they'd send me to England?

There's a bloke here - been here installing fluoro lights in my office to replace the Mercury Vapour Lamps that were originally installed. NB: I have no idea why they put in Mercury Vapour Lamps - someone trying to set up a hydroponic crop perhaps?

Anyway he's been here since just before 10am and it's just gone 3:20pm. My desk is awash with crud that has fallen out of the ceiling and he has so far managed to get ONE fluoro light up and is struggling to get the diffuser cover onto it. Looks like tomorrow will mean he's back to do the other two lights - or maybe one?

I learnt today, over the weekend infact, that people think things that are very negative and do not one jot to help themselves feel better about it for the sake of those they love.
