View Full Version : iSketch crashes after Firefox update 4.0 with shockwave 64 bit
Hi there, after installing Firefox 4.0 (on a mac 10.6.7 system) the shockwave 11 plugin (11.5.9.620) crashed trying to access iSketch. It works with safari and Firefox running in 32-bit mode. But both browsers have a lack in display refreshing. Drawn lines only show up if they are finished. Did anyone have the same experience or even know a solution? (I uninstalled and reinstalled shockwave) Thank you in advance.
Moin PS-D :)
are you sure you have the 64 bit version of shockwave?
My experience with Mac OS X 10.6.7 (Intel MBP):
Shockwave 11.5.9.620 64 bit
Firefox 4 (64 bit)
iSketch loads fine. Drawn lines show up when mouse button is released. Firefox Plugin Process shows up as a 32 bit process. Cursor is default cursor.
Opera 11.10.2092 (32 bit)
Browser crashes when iSketch loads (no surprise here)
Safari 5.0.4 (6533.20.27) (64 bit)
iSketch loads fine. Drawn lines show up when mouse button is released. DirectorShockwave process shows up as 32 bit. Cursor is default cursor.
Shockwave 11.5.9.620 (32 bit)
Firefox 4 (32 bit mode enabled)
iSketch loads fine. Drawn lines show up while mouse button is pressed. No Firefox Plugin process. Cursor is the tiny iSketch pencil.
Opera 11.10.2092 (32 bit)
Browser doesn't crash but iSketch doesn't load either. Just a blank area where it should be.
Safari 5.0.4 (6533.20.27) (32 bit mode enabled)
iSketch loads fine. Drawn lines show up when mouse button is released. No DirectorShockwave process. Cursor is iSketch pencil.
Safari 5.0.4 (6533.20.27) (32 bit mode enabled, Rosetta enabled)
Shockwave error message while loading iSketch.
I downloaded the latest shockwave versions here: http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/otherversions/

That's strange...
The 64 bit plugin shouldn't work with a 32 bit browser for all I know.
Sounds like something went wrong with the installation of Shockwave.
How does Safari behave? Do you need to enable the 32 bit mode to use the Shockwave 64?
Have you tried using both uninstallers (32 bit and 64 bit) before installing Shockwave?
Try to find out if any files related to Shockwave remain on your hard drive after uninstalling Shockwave.
Have you tried redownloading the installer? What size is your Shockwave 64 installer?
What happens when you load other Shockwave applications in Firefox/Safari with the different versions and combinations?
I tested it yesterday on a MBP and everything was fine except the drawn lines only show up if the mouse-button is released. (without a graphic tablet installed) Maybe it has something to do with the pen-pressure driver. I think I have to test it further. On Safari I got the same results you mentioned. Again thank you.
