Please may I have volunteers for two Tournament Adjudicator's and a Tournament Photographer for each game - the clock is ticking people... so your prompt response would be appreciated. The five players who rank the highest will go through to the Final's and be in with the chance of winning a custom rank and being crowned the King or Queen of the iSketch Forum Tournament.

As before, I do require volunteers to adjudicate the matches and a Tournament Photographer and Videographer (nudge, nudge, hint, hint - MsNerdy & NoHints) :razz: It is unlikely that I will be available for the Saturday Match (as it is my daughter's birthday tomorrow and we will be going out for the day on Saturday) so I really would appreciate some offers!!

As before, if you have any questions or comments regarding the tournament, either PM me or post in the dedicated iSketch Tournament thread.

Players - thank you for getting back to me so quickly and enabling me to get this up before the proposed downtime by Peter. Best of luck in the semi-finals!!

I now have to work out how many players go through to the second round - again, this is dependent on how many players will be in each game. For example...The current US match - there are only four players in it. How many should go through to the final - when there are five for another match? This is my problem and I will be working it out over the next twenty-four hours.

You may not like my decision - but a decision needs to be made and hope that you will cut me some slack if you don't particularly agree with it.

You could do it so that a set number of people go through - for example 10. They you can take the top two from each group, which will be 8, plus the top two runners up out of everyone. So, whoever finishes 3rd with a really good score still has a chance of going through.

Urgh.. you've got one of those using your name! An idea is that if you are logged onto your computer, you can stay connected on isektch as Incognito and just park yourself in the Studio until the match starts. If you're not on the computer at all, then you can ignore that plan.. lol.

Just a pity that nobody got to see the fantastic pipe-"organ" that I was drawing in 5 strokes.:sad: Yes the one that as I lifted my pen to do a second stroke, I realised the game had been reset and somone else was drawing a tomato. Even my mate the Guru reckoned it was the best he'd seen me draw all morning - He was watching over my shoulder.

I think I need to apologise for the stream of swearing that came out immediately thereafter, it wasn't directed at anyone, just me getting the sh♥ts because I actually got a word I could draw in 5 strokes without bolloxing it up:rolleyes:

Actually I wish Guru had been playing instead of Fender - all the Guru's guesses were absolutely so far off the mark that it made me feel good when I guessed correctly. He has only played iSketch once and yes he was sitting yelling behind me "WTF?" and "How the F--k is that XYZ?" and "You're f--king kidding! How did that person guess 'son' so quick before it was even half drawn?" He even managed to wake Mrs Bad up yelling one of those - which is not a good thing to do so early on a Sunday morning......well any morning really.:smile:


Ah well. At least I don't have to play mish-mash now. Never played it, but I reckon I'd always be doing Noob Style.

No mate it's all good. Guru and I went out for the morning to steer clear of Mrs Bad - who HE had woken up with his exuberance. So we had a great time wandering through the Bunnings Hardwarehouse.

I just checked the standings after the semis and WOW!!

Well done Kissy you have scored highest yet again. Wish I had been able to watch. I am happy to have come in seventh overall - with players like those who scored higher than I did, I am so glad I don't have to play them in a tournament final.:smile:

I actually didn't notice that until yesterday when I was looking at the wordlists for the finals and then I went into a private room to see what kinds of words we should expect. Is it just me or are UK and US the expert wordlists? And then my next question would be, why did both versions of the expert wordlist get chosen for the finals when it received the same number of votes as Blitz?

UK and US are indeed the Expert type word lists.. I do recall asking at the beginning of the Tournament if this could be confirmed.. (http://www.isketchforum.net/showpost.php?p=76938&postcount=7) so am assuming that I am correct. It was my intention of making the rounds gradually harder and more challenging! That way, "The One" has really earned their title (and custom rank.. don't forget :razz:)

Please do not take this the wrong way (and I am not directing this to anyone in particular), but I am a little surprised that a debate is now potentially brewing about the word lists (first Mish Mash, now this). I tried to get everything resolved before the Tournament started to prevent matters escalating as they had done previously.... best laid plans and all that :rolleyes:

I'm sorry TF for bringing this up so late in the tournament, but I think most of us were under the impression that there was no Expert wordlist available in User Created rooms. But like I found out yesterday and as you just mentioned, there actually is one available. I understand your logic of making the rounds progressively more difficult, but then shouldn't Blitz also be a good consideration? My reasoning for continuously pounding Blitz is because it received THE SAME number of votes as Expert as well as more votes than Mish Mash. To rule it out is kinda unfair.

And I guess my point will be overlooked. It's pretty silly to create a poll for determing which wordlists will be used in the tournament when the poll isn't even used for the final determination. A few regular forum members voice their dissent towards Blitz and their approval for Expert/Mish Mash and the votes for Blitz are negated.

Oh yeah, but let's all have fun on Saturday.

Blitz is a speed round, Mish Mash tests all different aspects of iSketch as a whole game. You get all different types of drawings mixed with the speed, Mish Mash is for the all-around type of players and i think it would be perfect for the tournament final because its about the speed as well as farmiliarity with all different types of rooms... Blitz is all about speed and therefore only really tests that area of a sketchers skills

It's not even Mish Mash I'm concerned about. I actually like Mish Mash and think it's a good selection for the tournament for the reasons you mentioned above and other reasons also. It's the double-dose of Expert that I'm concerned about.

Also I kinda disagree with what you said about Blitz. It's not just about speed - it's also about creativity. The wordlist for Blitz is no walk in the park - it's the basic wordlist so some of the words are more challenging than you might think especially given the shortened drawing time. And I strongly believe that if you plotted the fastest typer in the world who had very little creative abilities against a relatively fast typer with excellent creativity, the slower typer would win.

I'll just say, personally i think that the poll (http://www.isketchforum.net/showthread.php?t=1475) was pretty clear, that those rooms that had the most votes should the ones in the tournament. I think they should the be ones in the final. Neither Blitz or Mish Mash qualify at that.

I understand that after some dicussion, it was agreed that mishmash would be the final round. I don't know what the big deal is, you still have 2 days to practise, so stop looking at the forum and get your game on people! Yes it will be hard, but i don't think the final should be easy, if it were up to me i'd put you all through rooms you hardly have any experience at (ehem science and movies), and have you duke it out there (just because watching people trying to guess hypothalamus and A Bridge Too Far is hilarious). But i'm evil, so be thankful that i'm not the one running this show. It'd be like isketch boot camp. hehe.

Now, let's respect the opinions of those organizing this tournament, they've taken a great deal of time to keep everyone's desires in consideration, but they can't please everyone; that'd be a democracy, this is a cheerocracy. The time to argue about this passed 2 weeks ago. I see a lot of people make a lot of good points, but this is something that should've been discussed a bit more thoroughly 15 days ago.

I do prefer Blitz as well sense/net... but judging by the member's reaction (though the poll does suggest otherwise) I think it would be a no-no. The final round is not set in stone - it is still open for debate - though for the sake of any arguments - I will not change the current suggested format for the First and Semi Final Rounds - in the words of my mentor and whom I shall aspire to be one day "This lady is not for turning" :razz:.

As for Mish Mash - I think it would end the Tournament in a fun kind of way - it is a game after all and this particular style was masterminded by a player and gives the drawer much greater scope. Of course - N00b Style is part of the concept - I dare anyone in the finals however, to do it!

This reply was made on the 17th April 2007 and no objections have been raised about the final word lists until now. We are at the Final Stage of the Tournament and to prevent confusion for all finalists concerned and to quote Maggie again - "This lady is not for turning".

I do appreciate and understand your views - especially as you are a finalist... however, for the next Tournament perhaps Blitz could be incorporated into one of the rounds - as I do believe I mentioned before. (http://www.isketchforum.net/showpost.php?p=77346&postcount=17) Please refer to my last sentence in this post outlining my reasons for not including it in this particular tournament.

A decision has to be made - and I am making it as nominated Tournament Organiser.

The word list has been up for over two weeks - and it has always shown for the final round: English UK, English US and MishMash. I changed the word list from Basic to Easy for Mish Mash yesterday... simply to give you guys a break and have a bit of fun... I could always leave it as English UK or English US :twisted:

Im getting better in normal isketch, but it never shows lol.
I only enter for the fun, its a laugh especially this torny as we have screencaps, thats well funny.

Yup, it's gracie, who a lot of the time happens to spam invite me into the room. I click by mistake. Honest. :razz:
Though, I never thought I'd say this, it is fun going in there to practice drawing animals (though I still dislike drawing them - I'm just getting used to the fact that I have an animal curse lurking over me. So I must practice!). But every time I've been in there, it's full of crazy people. Worse than the UK easy rooms. :eek: gracie included ;P
