Has this been tried before?

I thought of this due to the need for me and MrsR to play in a user created room (same IP) and the fact that we have so many players in different time zones.

We could create a room on a friday night (UK) and see if we could "man" it till say Sunday night. We may have to plan it in shifts, but might be interesting to pop in and out of for the weekend.

Just tell me if this a crap idea....

I'll create the room (called Snickers) then op everyone we know. We need at least two people in at all times, so shifts will need to be arranged. Me and MrsR will take the first two hours. Volunteers needed from then on. Please post if you can definitely man the room from there on...

Also, suggestions for mods during the weekend might be fun. :biggrin:

Is it forum-people-we-know only, or anyone-we-know?

I have nothing planned for that weekend, so I will be about on both the Friday and Saturday night. I'll be there for more than 2 hours each night probably too lol. Maybe Rusty, you should put wordlists up so people can vote on what they would prefer. Then available ops could change the wordlist every hour or so... eliminates boredom, and gets your brain working a bit more!

Also remember, as much as some adults like a rude wordlist, lots of our friends are under 18! Tandem always goes down well, also 2 word BP. I'll leave it in your capable hands!

Not that familiar with all the different word lists so will leave that up to you lovely people.

For those that witnessed my outburst, I apologise. However, for something like that to work, you need only have four/five ops and when one of those leave then you need to op another responsible player. One particular player was opped and it was literally a JOKE. I wasn't aware of them being a regular player and it certainly didn't appear that they wanted to keep the room running to see if the marathon could last all weekend.

I'm very sad to see the room died.. i left at 1:00am eastern time so 6:00am uk time since i had to go to bed and there were 3 players left and i told them to get people in the room to keep it going.Where were the aussies when we needed them? A few came in earlier but then didn't come back to let the US people sleep :sad:
Hopefully next time we do a marathon we can keep it going to whole time!

I was all ready to stay up all last night to keep the room going, i was well up for it.
But due to idiots and fools comeing in to annoy people playing the game i got quiet annoyed and left.
Both me and AJ had constant abuse from 1 paticular player who made it her lifes goal to really annoy us, plus she was very insulting.
I really thought the room would be invite only, which it was not, which caused all the problems.
I f we ever do this again i do suggest invite only, not just for forum members but for any player we know and trust to play decently an with courtesy:rolleyes:

Ok.... i was really up for this marathon mallarky, but due to unforseen circumstances, of complete buck eejits ruining it for ppl, that really wanted to keep it up and running. I will be up for the next one if rules and stuff are set out, to stop them dimwits coming in and ruining it. I dont mind room monitoring also ( for a small fee, just provide the drinks ).... They're trying to keep it open for the rest of the weekend, so if you do go on isketch again and want to join that room, just PM someone in the room and ask them to invite you in :)

Beware though, some people end up being on 'away' and might not see your PMs. I know yesterday someone PM'd me and said they were being ignored by two people when they asked for an invite (but both were away from their computer). If that happens, just keep PM'ing other people until someone answers, heh.

Im also here to apolagise to cunny, i went for a break off the pc at 440am ish i stayed logged in to isketch while i was away.
Then i must have fallen asleep in the chair while watching late night big brother cause mr cherry shook me awake at 7am, i was gobsmacked.

We were gonna post, that last ever exit of the marathon players, but some ppl found it rather amusing, and some ppl didnt...

So we scraped that idea.......... :sad:

That was the plan, but not anymore :) Sorry about that.
I know Cunny just wanted to end the room in a big bang, but friendly and for a laugh, so she chose to boot people out with friendly messages at the end. She did warn people dozens of times (and so did a few others), that they will be booted out of the room (including herself at the end). Some people left knowing this would happen. Others stayed. Some have laughed about being booted out, and some have complained (she did warn, so why do people complain? Please don't answer that, lol). Cunny and I have spoken about it, and just thought it might be fair to not post them up because of the different reactions from people. Just out of respect for everyone :)

Now putting that aside, as that was just the ending, and let's not ruin all the fun that was had.. a very well done to Cunny for keeping the marathon room open for 48 hours!! You did great as a hostess hun (now go catch up with your sleep, lol!) Also to Custardy, Cherry, paintedlady, BM, Bell, err.. and everyone else who took care of business in there! Well done to everyone. And thanks for the laughs while I was in the room, a nice time was had.

And there we have it.. 48 hours. Do you reckon a cyber room has been open for longer than that? ;) lol, the next one could be "isketch cyber marathon" ROFL.. :eek:

I would like to thank, Custardshark for giving me so much of her time, to help me keep the marathon room open, she showed total dedication also... She was there for me, when it was my turn to have a nap.. i owe her alot.. You did me proud hun.

It only takes one person, to start the ball rolling but it takes many many more to keep it going. I really couldn't have done it without everyones support. There was quite a few laughs to be had along the way, but there was just no way i could have screenshot them all it would have been impossible. I for one minute ain't saying everything went without a hitch, as that ain't true by a long shot... yeah we had some probs, but we did got through it... (omg anyone got a tissue ).

Being played by everyone.
Cunny lived there most of the time.
I popped in to feed her and give her some wine.
I took my turn to op as well.

Laughs galore and a whole lot more.

Okay, while I realise what an achievement we all made, I think we can do more....

BUT, it will take a massive undertaking.

Obviously, some people wanted more at the end of the last one, so here's the plan....

We start the next iSketch Marathon at 8 pm 6th July (UK time). We then carry on for as long as we can!

My thought is that I should post 2 hour slots for people to man for at least the weekend (which are guaranteed, barring emergencies), then, should the room survive, post on a daily basis from there. We know from last weekend that 2 people can keep it alive (thanks you two, you know who you are), so we will need commitments from two people per session.

I also think the "pineapple" idea was a good one from the first attempt and may allow more passers by to join, rather than relying on "invite only" (slap me down on this idea, btw).

I dont mind manning for 2 or more hours, no problem.
As for not invite only well im ok with what everyone else wants, but it will cause problems.

Non-Invitational does allow casuals to come in - but the Ops can generally handle them. Just need to be aware of a few points.

/IP USERNAME - as you notice someone starting trouble - record their IP and screencap everything they do - then report it to feedback.

/KICK USERNAME This is a friendly Room - don't come back and bother us - go play on the railway lines.

When I was Opped - I did give warnings for people continually swearing - "HEY MUPPET - NO SWEARING IN HERE - KEEP IT UP AND YOU WILL BE BOOTED" that worked on some occasions - but I still had to polish up the GP Boots.

We got the occasional mouthy types - you know the ones - they are semi-regs, and think the world owes them a favour - they sit on away and don't contribute - occasionally do a draw or hazard a guess - but infrequently end up with "the artist appears to be asleep" - If I don't know you and I am an OP and you carry on like a pork chop - then don't be surprised when you hear that gut-thumping kick accompanied by the feel of a size 9 boot in your arse.

Other than being aware of IP's and screen capping offensive behaviour - then making sure you dump the screen caps into word or paint or something similar for reporting to feedback, it's all good fun.

Well I went to a concert and when I got in the room everyone else left - Ws it my aftershave? Only the Rustys and someone else was left - yay a 4 player iSketchathon - I tried to leave after the Rustys by booting myself but the other muppet who had entered the room had put themself on away so I kept having to hit done until they came off away. At which point I booted myself and came across to the forum.
