Personally, I'm kinda put off the idea of the parties being for non-forum members, too.. *gasp* :razz:

I think the rooms would get crazy if non-forum members turned up. The fun in guessing who is who would kinda be ruined.

Also, we might find that we find rebellious people.. for one, we usually op everyone in the room (knowing that they are forum members) incase people fall out.. so we wouldn't really be able to do this, as we wouldn't know who is trustworthy and who isn't. And it certainly wouldn't be fun if a rebellious person decided to start booting out random people. Again, we wouldn't know who is who, ya know?

I know it's a little late in the game for me to voice my opinions, but maybe this is something you can consider for next time? It might be easier to just PM passwords to people on the forums rather than putting them in spoilers for everyone outside the forums to read.

Is there/could there be a feature on PMing where you can send to a group of people? Whoever is organising it could just sending one PM out instead of loads to anyone who is interested.

The previous Party Arranger was given a bigger inbox by Peter so that they could PM the passwords to interested members. I understand that now anyone can arrange these parties - but would it not be better to nominate one person to arrange them with themes suggested the previous way (maybe even a poll)? I still think, it would be nice to have a different host, for each party, maybe have a main organizer or 2, but let different members be the party host.
As far as need a bigger pm box, as gracie stated earlier you can pm up to 5 members at once, then all you need to do is, delete their names , then send to the next 5 and so on, as long as you delete the copy in sent box, you only need 1 spare pm space.

But the problem was jewels, that people were pming the party organiser, but couldn't get through as for whatever reason, they had exceeded the total number of messages allowed.

Oh ok, tf sorry I didnt know that, but saying that we can download our private pm's , also, members who need an invite , and can't send a message to the organizer , they could pm a another member for the password, or even post, saying please send me the password, just an idea:razz:


edit: also, it may create issues, if Peter had to start giving everyone, who played host/organizer a bigger pm box, surley whoever is host, can delete/down load a few of their private pm's for this reason, at the end of the day, there is only about 10 or so of us at the moment who attend.

I wouldn't want to see just one party organiser. It should be open to whoever wants to organise one that weekend. If we have just one and someone else wants to run one with different rules then it can just lead to all sorts of misunderstandings and unintentional offence.

I don't know... I think having one organiser would work. It has worked well previously. There were no misunderstandings or arguments. Once we decide we want a party, we all voice our choices and come to a decision, and tell the main organiser. I've seen no problems with it before, but I also understand where kisskiss and jewels are coming from.

Plus, I'm not sure many people would want to be organisers, anyway... right?

I just feel by having 1 main organiser ( might not work ) what if for some reason they counldn't make it ( this has happended before) or your pc crashes, things can crop up at any time.
Perhaps what about 1 or 2 main organizers, then still let someone be a host for their party ?
thus hopefully either 1 of the organisers or the host should be present in the party room at all times ( just incase a problem occurs)

I totally hear you on that one, Jewels. For example, gracie is organising todays and tomorrow's parties, and she has backup people who can make the room (if she can't be there when it starts). Maybe this is something that all party organisers can do (have a back up plan).

I'm happy with whatever choices are made. I know I have my opinions, but I'd be cool with one organiser or several organisers. So maybe you guys can discuss what would be best. :)

okay, maybe this was a good thing, that so few people showed up. i was initially disappointed, but am now taking it all in stride. don't feel like wasting the energy being upset.

That way we can advertise it properly, and get everyone excited (does that work?), and gather more forum peeps as possible. I think the idea might die down a little if we do it too regularly. But again, that's just a personal view. :)

Previously we've all decided on a theme together - some get suggested, and we generally go with whatever is most popular. Somebody puts forward a suggested weekend, and people say if they can or can't make it. All we really need is one person to post/PM a password round, because anybody could start the room, we don't need to wait for one person to do that. It can just be whoever logs on first.
In my opinion, we don't need a "host" because when the room has been opened, we just play the game and chat...it's not like it's a real party where you do actually need a host.



Anyway. I couldn't make it last night (although from reading these posts, it doesn't sound like it really happened anyway) because I was also at a real party.. however.. I can come today. I think. =]

I think we do need someone in charge incase we all disagree on something and WWIII starts. But in reality, as you say Tash, they wouldn't actually need to do much only chose a catagory, time, date from a list of suggestions and as 99% of the time, we all agree on things there shouldn't be any hassle. We just need someone to make strong decisions.

I personally think it doesn't matter. What do you guys think? We could have a theme party that doesn't have a wordlist linked to it and we can use different wordlists throughout the party. -Except for between the tenor and the bass parts, there may not be more than an octave between two voices.

and parallel and exposed fifths and octaves are the most annoying.
