I thought it was pretty much decided that anyone is allowed to join the forum parties, so long as they have the password. Be interesting to see if the poll results reflect this.

edit: Oh, just read Nerdy's post. Some very good points there.

Aye... also, if non-members were excluded it might generate more new blood on the forum... think of it as an exclusive VIP club ;) lol

also with only having current members able to attend it will be easier to figure out who everyone is and even possibly bring the forum more together as a whole

Although I havent been to every one, the ones I have been too, half the fun is guessing who every one is, wouldn't be much fun, if I didn't know the isketchers anyway.

edit: you're welcome gracie.

these results will be for the party after the Animals one, right? because well. two previous members were already invited before everything was deleted.

so, i'm kind of upset with the results so far...

/me sighs
the reason i want to keep it open for past members as well is because... if you guys haven't noticed, there's been a member whose account has been deleted, and a member who has "left quietly." as far as i know, they are still very well liked, and i wanted to keep it open for members like these in case they wanted to come. the two that i just mentioned came to past parties.

i don't know, maybe we could decide which past members that should get an invite? :( because if some of the ones that are still liked want to come, i'd really like for them to be there. it's not exactly as if we can PM any of them anymore.

Gracie hun, i kinda see where you are comeing from on this, i truly do.
But we do have to go with the majority vote here, as a whole forum we cannot have a poll and then ignore the result of the poll, it would then make the whole thing pointless.
Also hun please ask yourself why this forum was restarted hun, then maybe you will see the reason most of us only want current members in the iskechpartys, im sure that you can understand this.

So I guess the point here is that there should be a distinction between "iSketch parties" and "iSketch Forum parties"

1. Why agree to a poll, if you're not going to like the results?

2. However, a poll is not set in stone. The results give an idea of people's views... doesn't mean you have to follow the majority.

3. Why would non-forum members (those who can be members) want to come to a forum arranged party, but not to the forum itself? I'm confused. Is it me? I can be nice, I promise. :)

gracie has arranged this party, and therefore I reckon it should be up to her who should be able to attend.

The poll results, however they conclude, could be considered when arranging parties in the future.

From what I can gather ,this pole was just to give forum members an idea of other members views for furture isketch parties.

So far the result they are pretty much what I would have have expected.
Although I can't get my head around the idea of why people would want isketch players invited, as this would take away the fun of guessing who every one is.

If it's an isketchforum party then it's for isketchforum members only.

The reason for invite only parties is to keep troublemakers out and we've had a few of those around here lately.

If you want to open a user created room and invite all and sundry then you are welcome to do that anytime you want. Let's keep forum parties exclusive though, there has to be some perks of being a member here!

That why we had the pole kisskiss, as ,as it stands at the moment, it's an isketch party not isketchforum members party, but the results (so far ) speak for themself, how the members feel.

I agree. Plus, it would be impossible to change this one unless the password was changed, seeing as how it's already been posted on the site.

Maybe now and then we could have general parties, still themed or whatever, but for non-forum members too? That way maybe some more people would get to know about the forum, but we can still have exclusive forum parties too?

That sounds like a good idea Tasha.

Putting my personal views aside, and being 100% totally fair here,
when looking at the current results , bare in mind members who have voted for all isketchers, in their vote that would then include ex forum members too, so their votes should be taken into account,
thus making it forum members only, 14 votes ( todate)
past /present members, 7 votes ( todate)

Sorry, maybe I should have been clearer - I voted for present members only and I don't need to be anonymous to vote for that!

Tasha and gracie, you can use this forum to organise any sort of iSketch party you want. Just make it clear if it's exclusive or open to all.

I agree, that's what I was trying to say in the other thread. Not sure if it was clear enough though. Gracie has organised parties for this weekend. The poll results will not effect that at all, 'cause it was a little late in the game for me to raise my concerns. :)

And gracie.. I'm sorry you feel that way, and I can understand why you'd want previous members to come in.

One other point I'd like to mention is that there are now newer members to the forum, who didn't get to post messages and read those done by previous non forum members. If they attend the parties, I feel guessing who is who would be difficult for the newer forum members who didn't know the previous ones (if they attend). No biggie, though. Just trying to take the newer forum members into account. (well done if that made sense to you. lol)

Maybe the password should be PM-ed in future?

Heh, that's what we mean, hun :)
http://www.isketchforum.net/showpost.php?p=69324&postcount=32

If it will end up being for forum people only, then the passwords will be given out in PM's in the future, and not in spoilers (for everyone to read). For today and tomorrow, we're just going to continue as normal... this change (whatever it will be), will only effect future parties.

I don't understand that. Have people voted wrong and want to change their vote? Because when I voted members only, I voted present members only. We need to take past actions into account here.

I too, voted for only forum members before reading this thread and even before reading the comments that started the pole. I don't need to have a long spiel as to why, I agree with the 'forum-members-only' comments on here.

No, no one has voted wrong, I was pointing out, members that had voted for all isketchers , well all isketchers would also include any past/banned isketchers members, so this should be taken into account when looking at the pole, how ever, as it has turned out , it doesn't make a difference to the overall results.

Can i just say this, even if we have forum only member partys, other members will still get in.
Last night on isketch i saw a problem which i wont post here.
This made me realise that any forum member with the password can tell OTHER NON FORUM MEMBERS the word to come in, thus makeing this whole poll a mockery.
There was almost another potential problem brought to the forum last night, from x forum members
I would hate to see peters hard work and commitment to this forum go to waste, with more bickering and nasty comments.
I will pm peter with what happend last night , so he knows what i mean here, anyone else wanting to know pm me as i dont want it on here to cause agro

This has never been a problem before... has it?
I know there has been more going on lately which could may make this more likely, but I think most people (if not all) on here are sensible enough to keep the password to themselves and not invite others?

I think Cherry's more worried about the consequences, not the actual action of allowing people into the room itself.

Unfortuantely, there are people in this world who are hell bent of creating issues because they don't get their own way and it's an issue we need to be aware of at the moment.

I think it all depends on the name of the room personally. If you call it iSketch Party then anyone can come in, you're just using the forum to organise it. If you call it iSketchForum Party then it only seems logical that current members of the forum get in.

If you want a password that only members can see I can make something that'll show the pass at the top of the board. Of if you send me the password with enough warning I can mass PM everyone ^.^

Seeing the results todate, it would make sense that at future isketch forum parties, they are kepted to only current isketch forum members, I realize we all have isketch mates we would like to invite, but this kind of defeats the object of what the majority wants, also, for all of us that have non- forum members that want to join the forum parties, well get them to join the forum first, problem solved:razz:

edit: Good idea Peter, mass pm.

Hello, it's me with my suggestion again!!

We all have isketch friends, forum members and otherwise! So as not to isolate those non-members, you can arrange an isketch party on another night for all those extras! I see the forum party as being a forum party and therefore people who have chosen not to join the forum or have been members in the past and are no longer members just have to wait for an isketch party!!

There really does seem to be a lot of debate about these parties but you have to remember that you can't please everybody all of the time and the decision should go with the majority rule! It's a clear majority in the poll so end of!!!

Personally, I don't like the parties!! I just like to play wherever and whenever!! You see, I'm easy .... yes, very easy in more ways than one!!

Good ideas, Peter. I like the former option better than the latter, as it would be a nice reminder just sitting there at the top of the board for everyone. Also maybe some people won't want to receive a PM (if they're not interested. And it might be too much of a hassle working out who is and isn't interested in going). The first couple of times that the previous organiser PM'd people with the passwords, I had a couple of people tell me that they were not given passwords -- but that was because they didn't post in the thread (even thought they were interested in going). Okay, I feel I'm waffling now..

I like the latter as I don't know (due to my ignorance with computers) how secure the former is. A system to pm the 'host' who then gives a list to peter to mass e-mail sounds good to me. That way, only people who wanted to get a password would get it and it still keeps the PM system in place.
