Lol, Piggie
May I ask something? Will words be allowed in the mishmash part of the final? I just drew the word 'lotion' with a high 'tion' and a low 'tion'. Would that have been allowed in the final?
And you also drew a compass and started labelling it with letters at first! You n00b..
Good luck to you lot.. with your mishy mashy! :) May the best person win! :P

I just hope I get a congratulatory email from Rob and an honorary "adminship" for getting to the final itself!
Thank you in anticipation, Rob!!
/me shudders at the thought of Piggie in bold and empowered with the gift of bannage:eek:
I'm happy to go with whatever's agreed on, was just suggesting the no pun idea to help those that have never mashed their mish so to speak. Whatever we play, whatever the outcome, it's guaranteed to be a good laugh so let's look forward to a great final.
Oh, and Buffers, if your money's on kissy can you shove a fiver on her for me too?

Anyway, I'm happy with what's in the final. I'm not so happy with WHO is in the final but I'll have a go, I'll have a laugh and wherever I may come in the top 5, I really don't mind!
I'm happy to be in the final, the worst I can get is 5th place and out of 25 fine players - that's pretty damn good!
Oh, and Buffers, if your money's on kissy can you shove a fiver on her for me too?
Betting on me in mishmash would be like throwing your money away! Don't do it!
Looking forward to being in the final with such good company xxx

Did I just read that correctly? They allow letters in Mish-Mash? Doesn't that go against the overriding principle of iSketch? Having said that I played my first game of mish-mash last night (well it was 2am here so afternoon UK time) and didn't mind it. Saw some puns and tonnes of NoobStyle.
I tried an upside down or two but not sure about POV and some people's perceptions of it. I think AJ has the MishMash rules page permanently assigned on her desktop because she was able to throw the link ou tthere about a million times for players. Thanks AJ - I've now got them printed and stuck on the desk.
New favourite room? Only if I am allowed to win.
/me goes off to check sportsbet.com.au for the odds on the finalists.
For POV, I imagine that the word I have to draw has eyes, and I draw what it would see in a typical situation.
And in user-created rooms, letters usually go unpunished. Sometimes players use them for puns, so yes they are allowed, but NOT in the final. It's a fun room, BM, a chillout and have a laugh room normally which I don't think goes against the main principle of the game.

Just like to say 'thank you' to the other players and the organizers of the tournament. Most tense games I've had in a while - Incognito guessing like a true telepath, Piggie dominating Mish Mash at the end...
I don't know how the 'severe lack of competition' thread will keep going after the calibre of play in that tournament  Congrats to all who took part.

Well done, sense/net. Congrats to you. That was a well deserved win!! :)
And well done to everyone who took part from beginning to end. I've enjoyed both the funny and intense moments!
Thank you TF and the mods for providing such a friendly and organised atmosphere to enjoy such a tournament :) You did a great job as an organiser of it all, TF.

A big thank you to those that supported me, especially AJ, Peanut, BM, Jewels, tupp and cherry. Most of all thanks to AJ who was always there and willing to praccy xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Was a really tough game and I will never forget struggling to draw restauteur (yep it was spelt like that) and not getting any points for it :embarrassed:
Thanks to TF for organising the tourny and to the mods for helping out and doing a tremendous job.

Yes! Excellent job, sense/net and everyone else! It was a really good final and an excellent bunch of players.
Haha... Kisskiss... I think you deserve congrats for even attempting to draw 'restauteur'. I probably would have just divided it into syllables and put a big question mark on the screen.
And TF, great job with the tournament. It was a bit different from Jmac's which could have easily led to some problems but you took everything in stride and did an awesome job. Well done to all adjudicators as well!

Fun tournament, the first that I've been able to watch, hopefully not the last. Even with 'restaurateur' and 'thermonuclear' to challenge the players, everyone did such a good job. Congrats to Sense/net, and thanks to everyone who worked so hard to make it happen!
Piggie
06-05-2007, 08:49 AM
Congratulations to sense/net!
I can only echo everybody's words above. I really enjoyed playing in the final (yes, even with thermonuclear and having my mouse freeze after trying to draw a nuclear bomb!!). I don't think I would've done so well in the mishmash round if the words hadn't been UK Easy so I thank Tempus for letting us have that!
It was quite amusing that Incognito and sense/net annihilated us UK players in the UK words in game 1!! And I hope my inadequate sketches didn't put anybody off!
It was great to play the whole tournament with such nice people (yes, even you Fender!) and I'd really like to thank TempusFugit for organising it and perhaps she should have the custom ranking now of "Forum Clock/Tournament Organiser"!
As for BM's little charade at the end, I do believe it gave us all a giggle! "What were you playing at?"!!!!!!!

Haven't been following this at all but from what I can see here, sense/net won, so congratulations, and well done to everyone else who played in it or organised it
Ya know, I was just cleaning cat sick off the rug and thinking about iSketch (unnecessary detail, but I wanted to add that nice visual image) when it occured to me that I never use the 'team' function. What would people think about having a team tourney? 10 players per game, 5 teams of 2 players each, basically on the same model as the regular tournaments... and kind of like the real pictionary. I don't know how the teams would be picked or anything, and it's not an offer to organise it, but it was just a thought. Well, it was better than thinking about what I was cleaning, anyhow!
What do people think?

I like this idea! lol... I just said to AJ, "first thing I thought was being paired up with you" and she said "oh, we'd definitely lose. I'd never pair up with you". Pfffft. Sisters. I'm liking this idea though! Not sure how it would work in terms of stages in the tourney, but it's a fantastico idea!
Well, what I thought about was the first 3 teams (6 players) of the first stage going through to the next... so in the semi-finals there would be 12 players per game. Then we could simply extend the games to 12 rounds so everyone gets their turn at drawing.
This actually works out that we'd need a rather large number of players to begin with. Maybe in round 1 have 4 groups of 6 players (3 teams) each... with the first two in each group going through to the second round, so that's 8 players in each of the second round games... then the first 2 teams from the second round go through into the 8 player final (which could be extended to 16 rounds, or shortened to 8) Well, I don't know! Something like that!

If that went ahead, it would also give the possibility of tandem being used well (whoever suggested it for the last tournament). Would require some faffing to get the draw order correct though so probably wouldn't be worthwhile?
Also - this is irrelevent now but a while ago I was thinking about the blitz thing and it wouldn't really work with the tourament (even though I voted for it). In round 1, if some annoying person got 80-100, everyone else would only get 10-20. Compared to the scoring scheme in normal games, this is a huge difference and it wouldn't be fair to compare scores between people from different groups. Even if this was just used in the final, one person could gain an advantage of about 70-80 points just from blitz, making it near impossible for anyone else to catch up.
Sorry for that, just thought I may as well say it since the tournament thread has been woken up.

As long as you invite the pairs into the tournament room in pair order, and everyone else is on away, this will work, or once every 1 is in the room, every 1, expect 1 room op clicks away, then in pairs get the players to unclick away then the mod clicks away, that will have pairs together in the draw order.

Okay... due to uni work being finished (and passed) the Buffs has a bit of time on her hands. I'll volunteer to run a team tournament if you guys want one.
Going with what Vik said initially... teams of two in matches consisting of 3 teams (6 players).
If you'd want to take part... you'd have to pm me with your names and 3 letter team name, I shall clear out my inbox. Until I have an idea of numbers and whereabouts on the globe you are I can't arrange times/dates.
The main rules will be the same as the former tournaments, no done, no skipping etc...
The players will play as individuals, but their score will be combined for their team. The top four team scores overall will make it to the final. There will be no semis... you'd have one shot to score your best.
I think it's a nice idea that you can pair up with a buddy to play... and I'm hoping we'll get some interest because of that, and possibly some very formidable teams!
I think although it's a nice idea... tandem is too complicated to arrange so the teams draw in pairs.. and blitz has a scary scoring system. Although I think I'll use blitz in case of tie-break... a kind of penalty situation... first one to end up ahead wins.
The word lists I'd propose for this would be 2 themed. Like double trouble and TWBP. There would of course be the customary 'easy' round, but I think that a vote from players involved before the match begins should dictate if it is US or UK, this allows for more interesting word lists to be played in the other two rounds, instead of the often dreaded UK or US basic.
The final word list will be voted for by the people competing in the final, but again, without blitz and tandem, I'd suggest something like Big Picture, but throw me some ideas and I'll mull them over.
I'd also like to suggest someone, over the summer, perhaps runs a blitz or tandem tourny.. or even both!
This one however is a team tourny... I'd like suggestions from all and then by the end of the week.. assuming there's enough interest, I'll start work on it.

Sadly I missed this weekends matches, can't wait to see the draws / video's well done to all that got this far in the tournament.
Wishing all in the final the best of luck.
There is no video of the Sundays semi final (I was at work). Saturdays will be up soon.
All this talk of the upcoming Team Tournament has reminded me that I never got round to puting up the semi final video I had:embarrassed: Personally I blame the exams...
Anyone who wants to see Fender, BadManNeR$, Systole, sense/net and Vik battle it out can see it here:

Round 2 (http://youtube.com/watch?v=LF1m9_yzxxU)
Round 3 (http://youtube.com/watch?v=KPGeCluWEVk)
Unlike the old videos there is no sound during the game as its more hassle than it's worth. I've made the intro much much less annoying though (in my opinion at least)
............Don't judge me, I'm a biology student not an art student:embarrassed:
