Anyone knows what happened with iSketch?
My stats and buddy list and profile are gone; everyone is newbie (but with the power of warn and boot) and the connection keeps falling. Also I play in Spanish rooms and the word list went crazy, it has some weirddd words that I wonder if even exist in another language... also a few words with one or two squares instead of letters, I wonder if this happens in the English rooms too...

Yes, iSketch with shockwave 11 on a Mac has been updated. You should no longer need to enable Rosetta emulation.

Hmm yeah it's weird, the font for the text is different and it looks smaller. All the names on the user list are really close togetherr too!
I heard someone say that you shouldn't update shockwave or it won't let you onn but that may just be a rumour!
I like how everyone is a newbie though, it's cute.

My PM feature doesn't work properly. When I click on a name in the Chat box it doesn't like PMs. However, if I click in the users box, it works fine. Apart from that it's OK, I guess.

The shockwave 11 might be a bit buggy for now. For PMing, try using the /message username command, that might work to reply to a PM.

Not sure if I'm happy or sad that the stats are reset...

Even though most players have had their stats reset, the yellow triangle is still there.

Yes, but I just liked having the numbers.

A few problems I've found.
1) I've lost all my settings/buddylist/score/studio art

2) It appears to be incredibly processor hungry

3) On FF3 it is making some of my menus go black intermittently

Ahh, no one likes updates initially....

I thinkk I found another bit of the update.. when you chooseeee a colour in advanced palette, there's a little dot of inverted colourr on the palette to mark the point where you clicked.. Unless it was always theree but I only noticed it today?

Yeah, the limit recently was about 20-25, then even more recently it went down to 10, now it's back up.

Also, without even logging on, going to the site makes black patches appear on my browser where buttons, address bar etc should be.

So you're not having troubles with random "words"? Because in the Spanish rooms I'm getting like random letters together that don't produce a word, like "bzyus" or something like that LOL

Heh, my fireworks won't work.
Every time I try to change my settings, shockwave shuts down.
I have a noob dot...which I can cope with, cos I have a yellow triangle.....but teasingly when I click the yellow triangle, shockwave shuts down and boots me.

I don't get the fireworks either. I also have alot of trouble drawing as it lags alot when picking colors, I have to click it 5-6 times for it to enable the new color. Not liking the update thus far =/

I have a feeling that isn't the solution :S I haven't played on iSketch in months, but judging by your comments and everything that's been happening on iSketch, it seems to me that Rob is updating the game/making changes, etc.. and there are just some faults at the moment. Which I guess is understandable, 'cause it must be hard to just do an update and expect things to 'work fine'. I'd say give him some time and it should get back to normal. I remember this happening a few years ago when I joined iSketch, too.

Due to the recent update, there is a temporary problem with some words that require special characters -- you'll notice this in the non-English rooms where accents are required. It will make the words appear strange or turn into squares. The best thing to do until this is corrected is to skip these words.

I found that when I used IE my warn button wasn't there. However, when I switched to FF it seemed to solve the problem.

I had been trying something along those lines, but hadn't realised that Shockwave 11 uses a different folder; since for me, the v10 files are in a Macromedia folder (on XP), not Adobe.

Posts that make reference to these files tend to get deleted though....

If it was old system, you were right. But new prefs in the new system have only stats, settings, studio art, buddy list ...etc (not ban status)

About the buddy list, if you have 25 and haven't modified it in a long time, i'll stay at 25 until you modify it. Modify once and it'll go to 10.

I've have had 3 separate confirmations that this no longer works, thanks guys, i only used it for like a week before the servers at work back then started filtering shockwave traffic like 3 years ago, hadn't heard from it since.

Apparently his user icon hosting is still working, which is very nice of him.

It's a bit of harmless fun, and I doubt Rob is being paid for clicks because we don't have anything to pay him. :razz: lol. It could have been a practice for that kind of thing in the future though and if it helps iSketch stay free, I don't see the problem in it.

Why, what happened? :sad: There are a lot of help threads here that might assist you... or you could try feedback (I know, same advice everyone gives)... or is it a problem with your PC?

I uninstalled and reinstalled Shockwave, yet I get this stupid error message whenever I try to log on that talks about some incorrect version of Shockwave player. :'(

So all these problems about voting privs and statistics are the least of your worries :(

Use the Shockwave uninstaller, make sure you give it a good clean, maybe with this:

and then restart your computer.

Then reinstall Shockwave. Hopefully that'll help a bit. Don't forget to make sure it's for the right browser... you could try updating your browser too if possible. :) Best of luck

All I can suggest is trying different Browser/shockwave combos. My daughter had a similar problem tonight with Shock 11... it would work on IE but not FF. It's worth a shot.

I think what's happening is there is some kind of bug with FireFox 3 and shockwave 11. Also, there might have been an update to sw11 after it was originally released that isn't reflected in the version number. You might want to try reinstalling by downloading directly from their website. Unfortunately this update of sw11 might be what caused the bug with FF 3 and you might be able to view and report bugs somewhere on mozilla site. This seems to be an issue for both Windows and Mac users.

I want to thank those of you who have exhibited patience during the recent updates, I know it's frustrating. As admin I'm trying my best to help keep the game enjoyable as is the rest of the admin team.

Oddly, I'm finding IE won't load iSketch - it just hangs up - but Firefox is fine. Almost certainly a Shockwave issue, so installing the latest version directly, as Sierra suggests, would appear the only real option.

That Buddy List extender stopped working because the command I was using to download all the buddies (/u) suddenly stopped working. You now have to list rooms individually :rolleyes:

cant u use "/find " to find all the buddies have on ur list? XD or are you talking bout somethin else?

/u = /users which used to list all the players online at the time, if I remember rightly.

Hey All...I am new here but not to Isketch. I am having the same problem with Isketch making my PC crash even when using IE.

It must have something to do with the update of Adobe as al was well before then....Am trying at this very moment to reinstall adobe shockwave...will post and say whether it worked...

I am having the same problem with Isketch making my PC crash even when using IE.

At first I thought it was just my PC as I've had crashing problems in the past but it appears that many others share this problem with me.
I used IE and FF to play iSketch, but I will try reinstalling Shockwave as well.

I installed the update (slim, not full) into IE, without uninstalling the old version, and so far so good. Not soak tested it by playing for long, but at least it now does load.

I'd try that then, if that doesn't work, go the uninstall/reinstall route.

wow, I never expected that the update could cause people to experience so many different problems. It only caused my whole profile to be wiped out (thats fine) , and I am a newbie again just as how everyone is too. (i played quite a bunch so I'm not anymore) Sometimes i also do experience black patches when I log on to isketch but its not much of a problem, but its amazing some of you cant even log on! weird ._.

yesterday, i logged onto isketch and a message popped out saying that I had to update my Shockwave player or sth, and its updated now, I dont know if its the same as db's link but this is the link that it gave me - http://get.adobe.com/shockwave/ i hope it helps but if it doesnt i'm sorry, um maybe you do have to try uninstalling and installing it again? :/:sad: i'm not much of a help i guess

If your using Firefox, then this is a bug in the interaction between Firefox 3 and Shockwave 11. I think it's a Firefox issue, to fix. Also happens on Mac as well as PC, apparently.

Yeah I tried going on the game, and it freezes completely after the slow scrolling, and I LOVE pictionary. Hopefully something will work out:)

One time by accident i downloaded shockwave 11 and it didn't wor, so went back to the current one, so I'm just going to keep waiting, who knows what will happen if you just wait hmm :)

iSketch should work with Shockwave 11 but I am no expert in computers. Maybe try installing older versions of Shockwave and see what happens. According to JASR there is a conflict between FF and the new Shockwave. (Shockwave 11)

Just to clarify: iSketch DOES work with Firefox!

You just might have some unexpected black bits appearing on the browser, which can be removed by changing tab, or getting that part of the screen redrawn (ie move something else over it, and then off again). This is a slight UI bug with FF 3.0x and Shockwave 11, and it happens on other Shockwave games, not just iSketch.

I'm not all that techno savy so I don't know if I have much advice for you! :\ Other than maybe uninstalling shockwave and try downloading it again? Make sure you have chosen the options for your browser and operating system, and maybe download the full version rather than the slim... Other than that I don't know!

mathsssssehh, I guess you are using IE, it seems isketch works on FF, so download FF 3 here : http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html , then download shockwave 11....

The otherdayy, i went on isk and when someone won it zoomed in on the winners name in a sort of wooooosh woooooosh way for the celebration. But its stopped doing it now! weird.

It did that to me today too. After two woosh woosh things the name disappeared.

Lol.. which reminds me.. I made a 'general' geography wordlist (not the one that's there with just countries/places). And they said it'll be updated at the next update. This was two years ago. Nothing there yet, and I don't think it will ever be updated, to be honest.

Here's hoping that's not the case with you (as I know others have added wordlists no problems, as well).

That's a very long time to wait :eek:
I have only been waiting about 3 months and I've had the usual "It'll be added at the next upgrade" reply from feedback. When iSketch changed, I did think that it was an iSk update and not a Shockwave update, so I checked for my new list but it wasn't there.
It's a little frustrating knowing that it takes ages to make a list (mine has 1986 words altogether :razz:) to not have it up on iSk ready for playing.
Edit: Having said that, I made the "Train Stations" list (yes, I got bored, that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it :razz:) and it went up 2 weeks later. Maybe I got lucky with upgrade timings?

There's a few changes now, like the "woosh" thing.

Also, being kicked from a UC room used to mean you needed to log off and on again to get into a different room - that seems to have been fixed.

I've barely been playing recently, so I haven't really noticed much else.

Oooh so that's why I logged on one day and was suddenly back as a newbie and got my friend list wiped out :( I guess I was lucky in not having problems getting the game to start up.

Yes, it was a little annoying to start off with but people are gradually getting used to it now :)
