As we're taking a short break from the Saffy's fantastic Dux of the Forum competition, Jen and I would like to bring you our seasonal Valentine Competition.

We both prefer the spontaneous gifts/treats.. rather than a fixed date. I just think people make a big thing out of it.. to the point sometimes that people get offended if they don't get anything..

Be happy on Valentines day...give a rose to your mother or a box of candies to a friend you care for...don't sit and dwell on the fact that you aren't in a relationship or you have bad relationships etc....think about the people you love and the people who love you!!! Be happy and celebrate love!

Well certainly you should celebrate your love for people every day but it is a special day set aside when you can show it. I mean face it if I went out buying things for the people I loved all the time I would be flat broke. So it's nice to take this one day to give them a little token of my love for them. (Same as Fathers day and Mothers day imo) Not that you can't randomly go out and buy them something any other day of the year as well...but around V-day they have all sorts of nice stuff to get so why not do it then? =)

I think the point about Valentine's Day is that we COULD do nice things for everyone on every day of the year, but we don't. After you get really established in a relationship, you just go through life day by day until a long time may have passed since you last showed someone you really care. The same with parents. It's easy to take loved ones for granted just because everyday life gets in the way. And if you manage to be romantic every day, why not have a day to be extra romantic? You don't have to spend a fortune or get into the whole commercial side of it at all. I usually make a card and make some chocolates for my husband. He does the same kind of things for me. I'd be pretty upset if he didn't bother.

I can think of a lot worse things to dedicate a day to than love!!
