View Full Version : Is it just my computer....?

There are a few general annoyances when im on isketch, i just thought id see if they happen to everyone or if its just my computer.
Firstly im quite well known of my n00bisms on isketch mainly falling out of pm... sometimes i am just being a n00b but other times my computer does this thing where if i click on the persons name and drag it up for a pm my screen turns blue, but once ive typed my message and i click enter it pops off and the message goes into the main box.... its pretty annoying and the only way i can be sure it doesnt happen is by typing '/m mrPM Meeeessaaage'.
Also the sound on my isketch doesnt do anything as a move it up and down, its either as loud as it can be or off altogether, this is a bit of a pain if im listening to music but also want to hear isketch over the top...so i usually just switch it off altogether :/
Another annoyance is when i hold my mouse down to do a draw with one stroke it always stops showing me what im drawing about 5 seconds into the drawing, so i just have to guess what the drawing should be looking like. If this does happen to everyone then how on earth do people do such good drawings in 5 stroke rooms!!
These arent very important really, just ive never played on another computer, so im interested to see if its the same for everyone.
Theres probably a thread that this fits into but i couldnt find it, feel free to merge or however this works.
No worries, a new thread for this is fine.
Ok. About popping out of PM, it happens sometimes, not sure why, thus i just got used to the /msg function (aka /m).
The sound can be adjusted by right clicking on the shockwave window. It doesn't change much though, so i suggest you set it on 7 on shockwave and then reduce your speaker volume for better sound.
The mouse thing i believe it's a memory issue. It happens to me too, it makes 5 strokes all the more exciting for me. It's one of those things you have to get used to.
The five strokes thing also happens to me.
And if I make a long stroke and let go just before it freezes, my browser window will minimise miraculously.
What I usually do is draw till it freezes and then drawing the rest in the second stroke. That one usually doesn't freeze. And if it does, I'll use a third, fourth and fifth. It's five strokes after all, not 'onelinedrawing'
I find that if I use the first stroke for a small part of the draw, the second stroke does not face a similar issue and I can draw without losing the line... but that may just be coninkydink.
I don't play with sound, or use the blue-screen PM function at all, so I can't really comment on those bits. Sorry. :)

Ah! thanks for your help on the one stroke thing ill be trying them things out.

its weird you said that, it literally JUST happened to me for the first time, i was very confused, but then i signed on and kicked myself, and the screen popped back up!
Also i know its 5 strokes, but i think it looks good when it all pops up at once..

Youd never know i take ICT A level.....wheres the shockwave window? sorry for being a pain.
i find the quote thing far too confusing, so i did my own.

iSketch is built on shockwave, sorry about that, i meant the game window. When not drawing just right-click on the draw area, that ought to get you a menu. then go to sound and set the volume.
And i made the quote thingies for you, it's very simple. On your post, click edit and take a look at them. Then click cancel to leave them as is. You can also multi-quote. There's a "" symbol next to quote, click on those on the messages you wish to quote, they'll light up green, then press post reply at the bottom left of the page just above the quick reply box.
Or you can wrap and tags around the bits you're quoting.
Make sure you do the coursework for your ICT A Level, or they let you get to about exam time then kick you off the course with no qualification at all... trust me... lol

I used to have that loss of line thing with the mouse in 5 Strokes - but the short stroke and then continue seemed to work too. Then I got a drawing tablet and it's been fine ever since.
How about just SHIFT and CLICK on the player name for PM?

How about just SHIFT and CLICK on the player name for PM?
that doesn't work for me, just brings up the players name, it does make it easier for when typing '/m Ms.PM' though.
I dunno maybe its different for different computers or laptops or whatever, either that or i've misunderstood you.

If you're in a conversation, /q is a good alternative to /m, as you only have to enter the target username once
