I am quite a nostalgic chappy and there comes a time when I switch on the tv and all I see in the mornings are tv shows that a not of my taste to say the least *cough* Jeremy Kyle (big rip off of Jerry Springer to you American folks but it's still crap! )

I remember when I was a little boy (and in many ways I still am) and the great cartoons of my time were there on the box.

I mean, who didn't love Thundercats? Although I have practically forgotten most of the characters I can still remember the opening sequence

Also, I loved KnightRider.. At the time, how would I know that K.I.T. sounded gay? But it is these shows that made my childhood experience great.

Something to look forward to every morning before going to dreaded school.

So please, I would love to hear which shows you missed as a child and tell us why you would want to see them back on our screens.

Thanks

*psst Ches, get some sleep young chappy

I was all about the Nickelodeon shows mostly.

Dinosaurs, All That. (The olddd school one),Salute your shorts, Kablam, Legends of the Hidden Temple, Hey Dude. I can't think of the shows off the top of my head, but pretty much everything that was on Nickelodeon in the 90's.

It just brings back good memories from childhood when you had no worries. Just seeing those old shows again, would be a different kind of high.

Play.com have Mysterious Cities of Gold boxset available... that may have to be purchased!

But where is the Gummi Bears boxset - in fact most disney cartoons rocked didn't they? Chip n Dale, Duck Tales... etc.

And Visionaries (Knights of the Magical liiiiiight)? And what were those guys who had things that bolted onto them? Think their tag line was 'power extreme!' but I forget the name...

Ooo good thread!

Now I'm gonna sound young (and Canadian)!! I loved The Polkadot Door although I can't remember anything about it anymore...Mr. Dressup, of course Sesame Street, Fred Penner's Place...and I'm sure more.

Actually I don't really remember my childhood for some reason...so I don't know. I think I watched those shows. I've had this conversation with my friends many times...we all watched Polkadot Door and Fred Penner's Place but they seem to remember everything about the shows and I remember nothing. Ah well.

I agree with Ashiana on Trap Door (I have all of them on DVD). It's time they brought that back, gotta love a spider called Drutt!

Don't know if it's really a kids' show as such, but it's one I remember vividly from childhood - Blake's 7. Apparently Sky have commissioned a mini-series updating it, probably for broadcast next year, I just hope they don't ruin my happy memories.

Does anyone remember The Pink Windmill (I think it was called) with Rod Hull and that dastardly bird, Emu? Old Grottbags used to give me nightmares

Edit: Oooo El Nino! I loved Knight Rider! But do you remember Street Hawk too? Same kind of principle but a guy on a motorbike?

I don't think I have . . was born in '85 so if it was on tv round that time, I may have seen it but I don't recall.

Looked on youtube and it doesn't ring a bell

lol  Just done a quick search - no wonder you don't remember Streethawk... it came out in 1985. CLICK HERE (http://www.streethawkonline.com/)

/me shows her age

Streethawk was to Knightrider as Airwolf was to Blue Thunder, an imitation that, whilst having some merit, was still just a variation .. still watched it avidly though, because even as a kid I was sad.

Somebody mentioned Roobard and Custard, which reminded me I have this ..

It's a genuine, unused Roobard Soap circa mid 1980's .. which probably says a lot about my hygiene as a teenager:eek:

 Polka Dot Door kicked some major butt...I literally only watched the show in rabid anticipation of seeing the polkaroo at the end.

PS whoever said denver the dinosaur is my new hero...

Shows that I loved and miss off the top of my head:
Rainbow Brite, Littlest Hobo, Gargoyles, Doug, Real Monsters, Daria, Beetlejuice, Fluppy Dogs, Raccoons, Wuzzles, and Streetsharks.

I turned on the telly t'other day and put the wrong Sky channel in, and up popped UBOS!

(Ultimate Book Of Spells, for the un-nerdy)
My little sisters forced me to watch that throughout their long drawn out childhoods :')
Although, I guess I'm not really down with American TV..

Although, when I went last Summer I became addicted to this show that taught geeky men how to date. By some creepy looking guy who wore a cape.. Who weirdly all the girls seemed to dig.
It was exciiiting.
Long live cheesy modern TV (:

Oh oh oh oh.. I can't remember the name of it.. BLOOMING HECK..

It had dinosaurs in. Like baby ones..
And it was called something like Land of Time maybe had the word Forgotten stuck in there too?
But whatever it was called. It was amazing. I had the video.
My memory sucks. Sheeesh ):

I swear that was Polka Dot Shorts...or is that some more recent coincidental rip-off?

Polka Dot Shorts is based on Polka Dot Door ;)

Thought it was about time I actually drew something and managed to get access to a mouse and some drawing space (I used iSketch studio and when I started I forgot about the gallery on here . . . )

So I've done some injustice here, but meh
