I was always scared to look in the Lost thread, in case I saw something I didn't want to see! lol

Anyhoo... we're about up to Ep9 in the UK, how far in are you in your part of the world?

What do you think of the series so far?

I think we're only a week behind America now since it went to Sky one. I'm loving this new series...but it's getting more confusing now. There's so many things you have to remember that i forget half of them when watching!
Nonetheless...it's still very exciting and Dr Jack is looking hot as always :razz:

The latest episode (in UK) had the return of Danielle!!! It's probably just me.....but i didn't cotton on to the fact that Alex was her daughter until Kate told her! Did anyone else see that coming?

That fat guy i dont know his name , the one with all that brown hair.
How long have they been on this island or whatever it is, cause he is still so overweight.
I used to watch the show and think, i wish i was there cause id be slim like really quickly lol.
But that bloke is still fat, i know its only a tv show.But you would have thought that he would have dieted to look realistic for the show.
Surely on that island they cant have mc donalds or doughnuts ect so he would in fact have lost some weight.

John blew up their main hatch end of last season. Then he blew up the house/hatch where "patchy" lived. And i'm guessing there's a submarine somewhere as they have a tank where they kept Jack. Maybe that is the submarine??

So we finally know how John's accident happened and how he got paralysed! And OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG OMG at the ending!!!
I knew whatever was in the "box" was going to be something to do with Locke but woooooah!


So know that the submarine is in bits....they really cannot EVER get off the island? Ben said that it was the only was off the island...........but what about Michael and Walt? They went off on a boat!

Also....i heard a theory that Locke's father could be the real Sawyer! It would make sense too....him being a conman and everything.

I TIVO Lost so I usually don't see it the night it airs, it comes on too late and I fall asleep. And... I like to fast forward through the commercials. The spolier tags are great! I actually haven't watched the season finale yet, probably tonight.

If any countries are at all behind the USA in this series, please post and let me know.

I think there was some sort of TV war between a couple of the channels that were going to air Lost (I have no idea what was going on, 'cause as always, I don't pay attention, heh). Sky is the only channel that is showing it, and I don't have it :(

The Best way to watch Lost is to get the discs. You can puase and find those hidden clues, etc. This is a series you can go back to the beginning of season one and have a lot of fun putting things together. Then after the season finales, start over again and no Lost withdrawls.

I don't have Sky but I've seen it (the finale.) :D

I've been told that it's going to air on Sunday. Not sure which channel though (over here in the UK.)

All caught up with the season finale. Hmmm, still a lot of unanswered mysteries!

1.) What is up with Walt? He was recognized as 'special' since before going to the island and it seemed the "others" actually feared him to some degree. It appeared his presence made bad things happen leaving his step father not wanting to retain custody after his mother's death so Walt went with his father. Where is Micheal?

2.) The dark haired guy that looks like he's wearing eyeliner recruited Juliet to the island. He hasn't seemed to age as Ben ran into him in the jungle when Ben was still a boy, Now Ben looks older than him.

3.) What is the significance of the psychic/healer that both Claire and Rose interacted with in Australia? I think Mr. Ecko had an encounter with him too.

4.) When Mr. Ecko looked into the black smoke, if you watch it frame by frame, you can see Ecko viewing parts of his life within the black smoke. Was the smoke showing it to him or taking it from him?

5.) Still wondering about the connection with the numbers and how the numbers coincide with not only the code but the people they are attached to in different ways.

6.) The meaning of Dharma:
"Dharma" means "protection". By practising Buddha's teachings we protect ourself from suffering and problems. All the problems we experience during daily life originate in ignorance, and the method for eliminating ignorance is to practise Dharma.
If we integrate Buddha's teachings into our daily life, we will be able to solve all our inner problems and attain a truly peaceful mind. Without inner peace, outer peace is impossible. If we first establish peace within our minds by training in spiritual paths, outer peace will come naturally; but if we do not, world peace will never be achieved, no matter how many people campaign for it." Did John practice Dharma before crashing on the island, achieve it, then realize inner peace while on the island?

7.) Just for laughs, the last number, "42" is also "The answer to the universe" if you are familiar with The Hitchhikers guide to the Galaxy.

8.) Is Ben a good guy or bad guy? Is he desperately seeking what he knows John has?

9.) Why is Patchy so invinceable? Does anyone remember a dream scene involving an eyeball and when Claire saw the baby crib in the jungle, full of blood with John sitting near by and with one of his eyes missing?

What's with the flash-forwards?
Did all leave the island or did some stay?
Who was in the casket where no one came to the funeral?

I told you I was a hopeless Lost addict. :embarrassed:

I've been reading snippets, and I'm looking foward to watching the season. Well, I've just gone and spoilt it all for myself. But it's still great to watch!

Well I don't watch much TV so I try to make the best of it. I hope I didn't scare you all away. ;)

Sierra, I'm just like you about this show! I saw the finale last night, but I was a bit disappointed.

Why did Charlie shut that door? It would have been easy to just run out of the room, shut it, and then both of them swim up to the boat... I don't mind that he as written out, even though he was a great character, but in such a stupid way? Also, he could have just swam out of that little porthole... Maybe he just got sick of waiting to die every day, but I don't know, they could have done it better.

Also, in the flash forward, why did Jack say to that other doctor 'get my dad down here and if I'm drunker, you can fire me!' OK so maybe he was feeling disorientated or something, but surely he'd have remembered that his dad was dead.

I don't know - there are always things that I don't understand in Lost, as is the intention of the makers, but these things just irked me and seemed a bit sloppy for a finale.

Charlie probably shut the door because of Desmond's flash. Desmond said that he flicked the switch and drowned. So, he had to drown. He wasn't 'meant' to make it out alive

Well, that's how I see it now. Although I did also wonder why he didn't just get out and then shut the door

What's up with John? Can he die? He got shot and fell into that ditch, but now he's out again? Does he heal? Why could he see Jacob? How did Ben know about Jacob if he can't actually see/hear him? (This is my presumption based on Ben's perseverance on asking John about what Jacob said.)

The numbers: 4 8 15 16 23 42 all values of a particular mathematical equation (Valenzetti equation) that are designed to predict the end of humanity! Though their precise meaning is uncertain....the numbers are said to represent human and environmental factors in the equation.

Also, I don't think only Kate and Jack got rescued. I think when Kate said 'he'll be wondering where I am' she was referring to Sawyer, and I think the casket belonged to Ben. I think his tumor came back and he died after being forced to return to civilisation. That's why no-one came (not too popular) and that's why Jack said he was neither friend of family.


However, now I am wondering whether it actually was a flashforward due to the father reference. Is it possible Jack and Kate knew each other beforehand?

The whole point of it was that he had to die for Clare and Aaron to be rescued. I don't think it really mattered about the switch.....just the fact that he had to die.

I think the flash forward is definately a flash forward. It's the twist of the finale...or the "game changer" if you like.
Also the father reference.....i don't think it means that he's alive. Jack said...."you get my dad down here and see..." blah blah blah. I think it's just a metaphorical thing and was just saying it cos his father IS dead. I dunno....that what i thought anyway.

Charlie may have been able to swim out the port hole but remember he locked the door and kept Desmond out. In previous flashes, Desmond made it very clear that things must happen as he saw them. He had to take particular people with him when he went to find the rescue helicopter or it wouldn't happen. So when Desmond told Charlie he saw Claire and the baby boarding a helicopter after seeing Charlie drown, Charlie knew he must drown in order for Claire and the baby to be rescued. (I'm still not convinced he's dead. Desmond might only think Charlie is dead.)

John, Jacob, Patchy, Ben, Walt:
John's obviously as hard to kill as Patchy is. Maybe they reincarnate or something. Maybe Jacob is stuck in the process and that's why he needs help. There is something the same about John and Patchy. Patchy is missing an eye and Claire had a nightmare about seeing John with one of his eyeballs missing. Ben's mother died giving birth to him, was that in Oregon? I need to go back and look at that highway sign again and also I think the commune John lived at for a while was in Oregon. Walt's mother died after an unexpected sudden illness. Walt is the one who showed up and demanded John get up out of that ditch.

Jacob and Ben:
Ben seems to have some level of awareness/communication with Jacob but John seems to have more. I think that made Ben feel threatened by John as Ben knew from the start that John and Walt were special and he had come for both of them, perhaps at Jacobs request?

Rousseau: or however you spell it.
She killed her crew mates because she said they had caught the illness and they all went mad. Why didn't she catch it, was she somehow immune and that's why Ben wanted her baby Alex?

Flash-forward:
Confusing! I also think Kate was referring to Sawyer and it could be Ben in the casket. The reference to Jack's father could very well be, as said, "bring him down here", as if from death. Kate may have been pregnant because Juliet told Sun that men's sperm counts on the island were over the top, Kate slept with Sawyer so if she was pregnant she would have to leave the island or she would die. I think some stayed and some left. Jack told Kate "we need to go back" but Kate disagreed. What's up with that?

in the last vision des had things didn't happen the way they were supposed to. charlie didn't die that time and they still found the girl in the parachute, so why did he have to die this time. but hey who knows he could always come back to life

she had alex on the island and she is still alive is this not a flaw in the "all women who give birth on the island die theory"

i think in the flash forward jack wanted to go back to the way it was cause so many of them died and he blames himself, but will have to wait till next season to find that out

for example majority of characterin the last few episodes of lost being refered to as Heros and in an episode of heros when nathan was asked what he would do with all the freaks he said he would dump them on a desert island and experiment on them. may be i'm just reading too much into it

No flaw there. It's the women who get pregnant WHILE on the island that die. That is why Claire didn't die, she was pregnant when she arrived and why it was important to find out when Sun got pregnant. Danielle was also already pregnant when she arrived on the island. Now, if Kate got pregnant from Sawyer, she will die if she doesn't leave the island. The soni-gram Juliet did on Sun says that Sun got pregnant on the island so she's happy it's Jin's baby but...

i beg to differ...
we dont know if danielle got pregnant on the island or not, also apparently the only reason clair didnt die is because juliet gave her those shots(how true this is we dont know yet)

I'm still reading! And now I'm confused about several things that you guys have mentioned, whoops. BUT, I'm watching Lost again. Finally :)

I'm not sure that Danielle did get pregnant on the island. She did give birth to Alex ON the island yes. She said that she sent the distress signal 3 days AFTER Alex was born..........so surely she wouldn't have been on the island 9 months before that right?

Desmond:
Desmond had told Charlie in the past that his visions are 'fragmented', like pieces of a puzzle. Could it be that Desmond is only assuming that Charlie actually dies in these visions but it's actually some other incident that needs to take place in order for other things in Des's visions to come true? Maybe Charlie didn't actually drown, maybe he did swim out the port hole or maybe someone rescues him? None of Desmond's visions have ever shown proof of Charlie's death. Charlie had to be the one to unblock the signal because the code was programmed by a musician. Hurley had to be along on the hike to find the parachute lady because he is the one who found the satellite phone. Maybe it was Claire that needed to be saved from the lightening because the psychic back home had told her to never let anyone else take care of her baby. And so on...

What if......that whole flash forward was a premonition? Like Desmond has had about Charlie. Maybe he saw the future and now has to decide whether to change it or not. There is a whole time loop issue thing so you never know.

When Ben is drawing the lines on the map to plot the course from the beach to the radio tower and his course from his camp to the radio tower, you can see an area on the map named Pascal Flats. If you are familiar with Pascal's work, he was a child prodigy, mathematician, scientist, sociologist, theologist, philosopher. Just kind of fun to compare Pascal to the messed up pieces of the Lost puzzle.

I actually thought the way they killed him off was great. Obviously i didn't want him to die but seeing as they had to kill him off.....i thought it couldn't have been done any better.
He kinda died with dignity and for his love of Clare. Much better than him getting shot or sliced with blood spewing everywhere!!! Plus it was such a tear jerking moment with the music and slow motion.

I read a lot into Pascal as a teen, for my work. I have yet to see the rest of the season though, but I thought it was a smart thing for you guys to pick up on. I probably wouldn't have, lol. And 'messed up pieces of the lost puzzle' are such the perfect words to use, Sierra. Big time messed up, but so much fun!

Idk if any of this has much to do with a freaking fictional TV series but it's fun to dig if you're a puzzle addict like me. I also wonder if the number sequence is related to Pascal's triangle and if "the work that needs to be done" is about figuring out which pattern the sequence came from. Remember John's obsession with trying to beat the computer at chess? I still keep thinking about the book in Desmond's hatch, The Turn of the Screw. Wasn't that book a bunch of unsolvable puzzles?

I'm always looking for hidden clues. I saw writing on the map so I just had to know what it said so I just had to freeze frame it. The name Pascal registered with me as at least a scientist/mathematician so of course, I had to learn more about him.

so lets see.. boone is DEAD.. Shannon is DEAD... Walt is MISSING.. how exciting...
And there are "OTHERS" on the Island...

The way Niki and her partner die? Spppiders! After she threw that spider at him (I knew the spider would get to her 'cause it was a flashback; she's already dead by then) so I sat there with my hand over my face expecting the spider to jump on her or something, out of nowhere. What a gross spider. Um.. I sat here trembling and waving my hands about. lol XD. Grrr spiders..

So is that it? I know they were paralysed for about 8 hours. She opened her eyes! Buried alive.. :eek:

The way Niki and her partner die? Spppiders! After she threw that spider at him (I knew the spider would get to her 'cause it was a flashback; she's already dead by then) so I sat there with my hand over my face expecting the spider to jump on her or something, out of nowhere. What a gross spider. Um.. I sat here trembling and waving my hands about. lol XD. Grrr spiders..

So is that it? I know they were paralysed for about 8 hours. She opened her eyes! Buried alive.. :eek:

Yes they are buried alive!! Obviously the guys (Sawyer and co) didn't realise it was a spider thing. Made me cringe and stare in shock when i watched that!
The actual story behind it is....Niki and that guy were cast as new main characters for season 3. However a few episodes in, they got really bad feedback from the fans and no-one liked their characters! So the creators of Lost decided to kill them off!! Amazing how they make a quick decision like that and then film it and then it's aired!

I thought that was a bit weird, lol. How they didn't have such a big part, anyways, and.. bam! That was quite a big shocking storyline/death thing for two nobodies. Well, we did see them around, but they were very much like background peeps. So it was very much a.. Hi Niki... who are you? Bye Niki. The. End. Their acting didn't really fit Lost.. I can see why people would complain. Nonetheless, that was a goood exit. A shocking one!

does any remember the episode when they went to see Jacob? do you think he was really there or not? =]

I was a bit confused about that too.. but this is what I thought...

I think Ben couldn't actually see him or hear him, but that he was making it look like he could and was having a conversation with him. And of course, Locke heard him and Ben was shocked and wanted to know desperately what he had to say. That's what made me think that Ben can't hear/see him. I think *he* was there.. because of what Locke heard.

But who knows? This whole thing is one huge mystery with tons of mysteries within it :D

Yep Fy_Nyte, you can see him for a split second but since I was the only one in the room to catch it, I had to back it up and slow it down to prove it to everyone else.

Two planes?

What about the whole "oh your plane was found and crashed, and everyone died..." like Naomi told them? When they had Juliette's flashback, Ben was showing her the film of her sister in the park, and on the other TVs showed the news about the plane... so hmm?? I'm not sure if that was the real Oceanic Flight? It kinda reminded me of the Langeliers, how the plane got sucked into this vortex thing and everything was gone. Like two dimensions maybe? Hmmm...

I know this sounds completely silly..
But I was under the impression that they planned that areoplane crash, to make it look like they had died.. *the powers that be* did it.. because they wanted certain people on that plane.. and on the island..

I think this is a sign that I'm thinking too hard.. and on the wrong lines. XD

Naomi isn't who she says she is. Therefore when she told everyone that their plane had crashed (somewhere in the opposite direction) and everyone thought that they were dead...it was prob a lie. Remember Charlie had the message on his hand for Desmond?

Okay, I know that this thread is for season 3, but my post is going to be about the recent season 4! I couldn't be bothered to make another thread. So for those of you who don't want to read, then please don't read between the spoiler tags. Just wanna talk about some bits and bobs about season 4, but mostly the finale :)


OMG, the way Jin died! I actually cried. Argh. How could they do that? I've always liked his character. Someone simple and gentle.

I liked the reunion between Desmond and Penny. That was awesome!
And who knew Penny was Witmor's daughter? Did anyone actually guess that before we found out?

Oi.. and Jack and Claire being brother and sister? Dang! So he's helping take care of his own nephew and he doesn't even know it yet!

Did anyone else thought it looked a bit silly moving the Island.. literally? I like Lost a lot, but when they start doing these weird dorky things, it starts making it look too weird for a moment. But I soon got over the island moving :P I don't like the black smoke thing, either.

I thought the finale was great, but the last 5-10 minutes was what ruined it a bit. I thought it was a little random. And I hate the way they ended it :( Just as I felt I was getting some answers, the last 5-10 minutes opened the door to 5893 other questions! Oh, and I guessed that it was Locke in the coffin! Go me! XD But only 'cause Ben was standing there.. lol.

Well, I'm not yet convinced that Jin has actually died. As far as Penny being Widmore's daughter, we've known about that for a few seasons now. And the fact of Jack and Claire being half siblings was revealed in a FB when Christian went to the hospital to see Claire's comatose mother, he then told Claire he was her father.

I really liked how they showed the moving of the island. It was just cool enough without too many overdone special effects. Just the ripples in the water was kind of cool I thought.
And Michael Emerson is a awesome actor!

Lol, I had to google who Michael was. Ha! I see.. Ben. He really is a good actor. Scares the monkeys out of me :| Does anyone actually think he looks like Rob? (as in Creator of iSketch, Rob) lol. I've thought that for a few years now.

I spelt Widmore all wrong. I thought it was Witmore, 'cause it kinda sounds like that. But I guess without actually reading it, it explains why I got it wrong XD


As for Jin.. The side of the boat that he was standing on didn't actually explode. It was the other side. So I thought to myself that maybe he is alive and is swimming around somewhere, heh? But that said, for now I think he's dead :/ Boy was that sad, though. *gulps*.

Claire and Jack being siblings.. err.. I must have missed that. And also Penny being Widmore's daughter. Wow, my attention sucks, lol. I didn't realise it had previously been addressed.
