In a city, evil has struke. THE MAFIA IS ON THE LOOSE! no night is safe! This is a game where ppl have roles but they can't tell otheres their role. here are the roles:

MAFIA:
Spy: This is like a regular Mafia member, only it can see a player's role and team 2 nights. the Spy does not know who the 3 normals are on it's team.
Normal: a regular Mafia member. they, like the spy, have the ability to kill a person each night. They do not know who the Spy is. They can also vote if they want to Hire an innocent.

INNOCENTS:
Doctor: can retrieve a dead Innocent 1 night.
Guard: can protect a innocent 4 nights
Normal: Nothing special AT ALL!

HOW TO WIN:
Mafia: Out number the innocents.
Innocents: Having every Mafia member killed.

Sounds interesting.... What if we don't like the game after we see the rules and understand it properly? Can we change our minds? And has this kind of game been played online like this before? If so and it worked well, I'm in too :)

Not in, sorry, before you get your hopes up. Just wanted to say I've played this in real life and it was fun. Will be interesting to see if it works better online. I remember us getting all confused. The werewolf (in your game, the Mafia) ate the Witch (or Doctor) - me, incidentally - which was not acceptable, so we restarted; then the second time I was the Little Girl (Spy) and the wolves wanted to eat me again (!) :cry:. Then I finally died xD *mutters*conspiracy*cough* Fun, though! I was a total kid the whole game, yelling out who I thought was the wolf during the village meetings (Innocents) (so what else is new xD)

That was the night I nearly squished a slug on my beer glass. Ughhh. I digress.

This post is specifically to reece. I've not had a role PMed to me and I've read that we don't need nicknames cos it's cancelled. What exactly is cancelled? Needing a nickname or the whole Mafia game?

I heard from Loviii earlier tonight that the game was cancelled because you PMed the innocent roles to everyone in the same PM so all the innocents knew who the innocents were. If this was the reason why the game was cancelled then I don't think you have to cancel it. Just tell everyone to pick nicknames and then we all automatically become anonymous again. Simple. No?

I was also just told by nerdy that you told NoHints the game was cancelled:?: and you were relying on him to tell everyone? If that's true wouldn't it have just been easier to put a message in this thread saying "Sorry guys, games cancelled"?

Sorry if this comes across as mean or rude, that's not how I mean it. I think this is just the best way of contacting you reece plus here everyone knows what's going on with the game :) *hugs*

I'm out even if it is just the nicknames that are cancelled. I've sent reecer 3 or 4 PMs and with each one I've received a one liner reply that 1. doesn't answer my question properly and 2. Leads me to asking more questions.

I'm assuming he meant the whole game is cancelled. That's the thing, I even asked that, and he said NoHints will explain everything to everyone (without telling me which is cancelled) *shrug*.

So yeah, I'm out. It's a shame, I thought it was gonna be a cool game.

reecer has cancelled the game. I think the reason is that he's frustrated about mistakes he made.

I don't think it was just the innocents thing; there also seemed to be confusion with telling people roles and then later on, saying that isn't their role.

So yeah, it could have been easily fixed, and even if it couldn't it wouldn't take long to just start over...

I think it's a shame, since it's been building up for nearly a month, but I guess if people still want to play it someone else could take over.

I would like to start over and try again. It sounds like fun =)

Do you guys understand how the game works? I'd volunteer to host the game but I won't be on the internet regularly these days. I can help anyone who wants to host it though. There's an explanation of the game on wikipedia (it's called Mafia) but it has lots of alternatives so it would be better to have someone who has already played the game to help decide which options should be kept.

I HAVE already played it though. and NoHints is right about why I canceled it. We can play it still but I'm not hosting.
