After a heated debate in the kitchen this morning with the other half, who can't understand why I like it, here's a poll - love it or hate it?

Obviously I will vote for "Love it" - I can eat it out the jar with a spoon or a knife if I'm desperate ... Funny how if you make a Marmite-hater a cheese and marmite toastie they go "Ohhh that tastes nice, whats in it?" ... They find out its Marmite and its suddenly "Yeerruuuughhh!!"
Bah!
hmm... never taste b4, but.. i don't hate it...

I love it! And Tuppence... that is just spooky. I too love Marmite and Cheese Sandwiches... but I also confess to putting peanut butter in there as well (the crunchy kind of course!)

Marmite just tastes like salt. Awful, awful stuff. Evil infact.
I like cheese and marmite sandwiches. And as much as I love peanut butter, I save that for with jam (or bananas like tupps :D) and put lettuce in there to add the crunch :)

Just found out that lovely Marmite is a good mosquitoe repellent, they can't stand the yeast or something. I'm assuming you don't rub it in your skin, just eat it as normal :)
I approached it without bias and a knife when I stayed over at friends in Edinburgh when they had left for work.
Absolutely disgusting. I like lots of strange flavours but this is definitely not among them!

I adore marmite on toast, the toast has to be cold though, i then spread my butter then a thin sliver of marmite all over it yummmm.
I also dip a teaspoon in the jar and gobble it neat bloody good stuff.

Marmite is a source of good in this all too often evil world, a shining beacon of yeast based loveliness, a ... you get the idea.
The odd thing with Marmite is that it differs around the world. We purchased some from Iceland (the shop, not the country) and discovered it had been destined for the South African market. They must change recipe because that one was absolutely disgusting.
Ohh I'm the opposite to Cherry, I like it on hot toast with melted butter. I'm actually eating some right now.
Charlie licks it off the knife.

Awww charlie, the cat that got the cream has just been rewritten.
To the cat that got the yeast extract, bless that cat gotta love his taste.
I read that Edward de Bono, pioneer of the idea of "lateral thinking", instructed a Foreign Office committee to ship out hoards of Marmite to Israel, in the belief that it would cease the Arab-Israeli conflict. Apparently, the people over there are largely deficient of zinc, a side effect of which can be aggression, and Marmite could have made them all friends again. =)
So it's more than just a delicious foodstuff; it's an instrument of peace!

The only thing that has yeast in it that I like is beer. "Yeast Extract" really sounds way too much like something a doctor should be treating with penicillin.

Im bummed that the only choice if I hadnt tasted it is "Never tasted it but hate it anyway". I NEVER say I hate something UNTIL ive tried it. I cant stand those kind of people that say "ewww gross I hate that" then come to find out theyve never even tried it. You have to try it to say whether you like it or not! Sheesh!

I know, but some people just can't imagine the thought tasting it. They hear it from people who don't like it about how gross, horrible, salty, etc etc so they just form an opinion and refuse to taste because they already hate it. You'll never change their minds so I put that in as an option :)
