I have no speakers, so no sound... but I'd figure those wires were to trigger a small charge to break the casing that the caesium was in. If it was not covered, the reaction would have been instantaneous, wouldn't it?

Well, if and when you see it with sound, you'll notice that they say that the barium and the caesium are in a water soluble containers, to prevent it from reacting beforehand. So i don't know what to think.

Thanks for posting that coastguard one, 2.0! I haven't seen it for ages. It's caught on here bigtime. Our friends are always saying 'vat are you sinking about?' either when someone is looking thoughtful, or if someone is speaking English badly - and they say it in a really exaggerated German accent, so they sound like just the sterotypical northern Germans. It's so funny!

Not a fan of pranks generally, but this was a good one. I also like the post-it prank, where someone's friends bought like, 10,000 post-it notes and labelled everything in his apartment. Oh i agree, it's absolutely amazing that they can learn to replicate it, and are capable or doing it quite well. It'd be more amazing if they did it creatively though, that's all. One shouldnt read too much into the video.
