You could post here to say what you will be doing on mother's day, or what you shall be buying/doing for your mother, even leave a message here for your mum, or maybe post to say what your children have done for you.

As I say to my mother... "Every day is Mother's Day".. heh.. suck up.
I bought her a bunch of flowers last week.. surely she doesn't need anything for a while now.. ;) (I'm joking..)

Oh, what to buy, what to buy...

Tasha, how about taking her out for a meal? and paying? :P Actually, maybe we should do that for mum...

And Happy Mother's Day to all you forum mothers out there! :)

As a mother myself, I do love flowers, however it is nice to have something you can keep, e.g a nice photo frame or keyring. my mother has allergies so I won't be getting her flowers, but I have got her a photo frame with a photograph of all her grandchildren in, oh and something practical, a hands free kit for her mobile phone.

/me hikes up the kilt, mr jewels the kids can get me diamonds:razz:

edit: awww msnerdinator thankyou xx

I did photo frame last year.. hmm. I need to get into town but I don't have time

Oh, another idea could be to buy something online and have it delivered for Saturday (or something). That kinda stuff surprises my mother so much, heh.

And when we buy stuff as a family for my mother (outside of Mother's Day), she always works out that we've got her something.. "I know you girls are up to something. I'm your mother!" I'm telling you.. I want those mother powers. That special sixth sense...

It's quite easy spoiling my mother.. she loves simple things, so we never run out of ideas. lol

My mother loves pictures of the family.
So this year as well as her flowers and chocs, im doing her a big frame filled with pics of all her kids grandkids ect.
All pics stuck in together s a ( forgive my spelling of this ) COLAGE i think lol.
She will love it,

This is bringing back memories of all the silly things we've done for our mother...

I remember one time we missed Mother's Day (purposely!!) and gave her gift the day after. You could tell that on Mother's Day she thought we had forgotten.. it was so hilarious! We're bad daughters..

Oh, but there was this one time when we really did forget it was Mother's Day.. so dad bought flowers.. heh, so cute! And made it look like it was from all of us. Rofl..

And that's a cute collage idea, Cherry!

Well, my lovely mother died 4 years ago, and on Mothers Day I don't usually get anything. So what I normally do, is buy a lovely big bunch of my mum's favourite flowers, and give them to myself. This way I get something (even if I buy it myself!), and I have lovely thoughts of my gorgeous late mother.

Happy mothers day to all the mums out there!

One of the nicest things you could do for your mother is tidy your room, do the washing up for the day, make unexpected cups of tea, do some housework, cut the grass, clean the windows! Yes you should be doing these things all year round but on Mother's Day it shows that you're making an extra special effort!!

/me hugs Lard Arse and wishes her an extremely Happy Mother's Day with big kisses xxx
Even though you buy those flowers for yourself, I'm sure your mum is still enjoying them. Bless you, hun x

Mothers Day downunder isn't until the second Sunday in May

Apparently it's the same in Anguilla, Aruba, Austria, Bahamas, Barbados,Bangladesh, Belgium, Belize, Bermuda, Bonaire, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Cuba, Croatia, Curaçao, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Grenada, Honduras, Hong Kong, Iceland, India, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Latvia, Malta, Malaysia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Peru, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Slovakia, South Africa, Suriname, Switzerland, Taiwan, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, United States, Uruguay, Venezuela and Zimbabwe.

It used to be a nice lunch out with the family at a restaurant - but since my gorgeous little niece came along they all (except me and Mrs Bad) prefer to go to someone's house for a BBQ.

Mrs Bad and I always buy our mums a potted Chrysanthemum plant each, which lasts much longer than flowers.

When I was in grade school, I hand-made a card for my mother. In it, I wrote a poem. I don't remember all of it, but the last four lines were: "In my mind, you'll never grow old, because your heart is made of gold. It really must be quite an art, to be alive with a metal heart." She kept that card for many years, and said that it was the best gift ever. She's gone now, but she will live on, with love, in my memories.

Mother's Day is celebrated on different days throughout the world. Examining the trends in Google searches for the term "mothers day" shows two major blips, the smaller one on the fourth Sunday in Lent, and the larger one on the second Sunday in May.[3]

Second Sunday in February Norway
Shevat 30 (falls anywhere between January 30 and March 1) Israel March 3 Georgia
March 8 Algeria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia, Albania, Bulgaria, Romania, Belarus, Russia, Ukraine, Vietnam. The date coincides with the International Women's Day.
Fourth Sunday in Lent (Mothering Sunday - March 18 in 2007) Ireland, United Kingdom
March 21 (first day of spring) Bahrain, Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Palestinian Territories, Jordan, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Yemen
March 25 Slovenia
April 7 Armenia
First Sunday in May Hungary, Lithuania, Portugal, Spain
May 8 South Korea, Albania (Parents' Day)
May 10 much of South America, El Salvador, Guatemala, Mexico, Oman, Pakistan, Qatar, Singapore

Second Sunday in May
Anguilla, Aruba, Australia, Austria, Bahamas, Barbados,Bangladesh, Belgium, Belize, Bermuda, Bonaire, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Cuba, Croatia, Curaçao, Czech Republic, Denmark, Ecuador, Estonia, Finland, Germany, Greece, Grenada, Honduras, Hong Kong, Iceland, India, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Latvia, Malta, Malaysia, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Peru, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Singapore, Slovakia, South Africa, Suriname, Switzerland, Taiwan, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, United States, Uruguay, Venezuela, Zimbabwe May 26 Poland
May 27 Bolivia
Last Sunday in May France (except if it coincides with Pentecost day, in which case Mother's Day will be shifted to the first Sunday of June), Dominican Republic, Haiti, Sweden
May 30 Nicaragua
August 12 Thailand (the birthday of Queen Sirikit Kitiyakara)
August 15 (Assumption Day) Antwerp (Belgium), Costa Rica
Second or third Sunday in October Argentina (Día de la Madre)
Last Sunday in November Russia
December 8 Panama
December 22 Indonesia
20th Jumada al-thani (also called Women's Day) Iran and other Muslim peoples, especially Shias. The date is the (disputed) birthday of Fatima Zahra. The Islamic calendar is lunar so it cycles relative to the Western calendar.
