Hi,

I'll make this sweet and simple.

If an IP address is blocked from the game because of an error, are you entitled to a registered name as there are a couple of people on the game who I would say do not abide by the rules yet they have now become VIPs, having access to double votes.

I'm questioning the thinking behind this as I happened to vote on a VIP for violating draws and it was like they weren't fully aware of the rules or as I'm looking now, boasting about their VIP status.

Any reasoning behind this decision, apart form giving them a name so their IP won't be blocked?

Hmm.... this is potentially controversial! I understand that the VIP status was not a badge for preferential treatment - they are just regular players and have no special standing or be above the rules. If anything, a VIP should be fully conversant with the rules and behave perhaps a little bit more appropriately.

If I saw the above, I would definitely screencap the draw/offence together with an IP and send it on to feedback.

That would be the thing to do, Bojangles.
If a registered player misbehaves in any way, this player CAN lose their VIP status, and will be blocked from the game, like before he/she got the VIP status.

How do I become a VIP?

I've played isketch for longer than all of you probably!

And I'm SICK of newbies . .these double voting privileges sound good!

Yeah clunge but you haven't been exactly VIP worthy now have you :P

You have to proove you're worthy of VIP status in order to get it when you knock on that door, and once you're in be a more law abiding player than admins themselves.

I always play by the rules, warn people when they break them, suggest how they can avoid breaking rules in the future, AND I beat NoHints twice in a row today!

what more do I need?!

To be honest there is not much more that you get for being a VIP player compared to a regular user. I have mentioned this before but I can't be bothered to find it so I'm going to list all that I know.

A VIP user gets:

1. A secure username complete with password
2. A larger available picture size on their profile
3. Double votes when warning
4. A little ® next to their name
5. Access to the VIP rooms, which are practically the same as a normal room

In my opinion, the only thing that would be useful is the secure name, so that you can guarantee your username will not be taken by someone else.

Yeah, that would be useful  Although I'm not bothered when my name is taken....

I think the more powerful vote is enough incentive for anyone to want VIP status though.

I would like it, if it didnt have that R next to my name and didnt say *VIP* on top, i bet they get questions all the time about it. I would like to be an undercover VIP... maybe i can talk to rob about that and get it through my sweet connections... although i was closer to the second in command.... and i havent talked to either in over 2.5 years... and rob only once... maybe i dont have connections.... dang.
oh well, I havent had a problem with my username being taken since ive been back, so no big deal.

Had a problem recently with a guy harrassing a player and he kept using our names pretending to be us to stalk them. That's really crap and meant none of us had a secure Username. Only reason i think a registration system should have been made ages ago is better way to get rid of cheaters and to secure player names.

Agreed. The only privilege I consider useful is the stronger voting power, the rest I consider just frills.
