So it's only a few days until we close those metaphorical doors on 2008 and welcome 2009 into our lives. Many of us will be celebrating with family or friends, as like birthdays and Christmas, it only happens once a year.
The new year also brings new resolutions and reflection on the events of 2008.
We can all try to make a new year's resolution, that is the easy part. Sticking to it is usually a lot more difficult.
It could be one of the more common ones like giving up smoking or chocolate or it could be something a little more personal.
How will you be celebrating the new year and what is your new year's resolution?
What was your 2008 resolution (if you can remember it) and did you achieve it?

I will be with close friends and family at a huge party in my friends house, she has a heated indoor pool and a games cabin in her garden so it will be fun id say.
Im doing the catering as always lol.

/me thinks dean was a bit out of it when he posted that.....
Happy New Year all. :) My resolution was to be more resolute; a resolution which I stuck to religiously when I could be bothered. Hmm, I don't really resolve to do things differently at the start of each year though, I'll just stop or start doing things when I see fit.

Spent mine the way I always do, quietly at home with family and celebrating getting another year older.
2:24 hours late, but all the same ...
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!

The final countdown is on for Canada and the USA! Still over seven hours to go for Alofi, Apia and Pago Pago!!

Had a great New Year! Went to a friend's house for the traditional meat fondue, and after a fireworks display and Champers at midnight, we had a huge SingStar party until about 5am.
I broke one of my New Year's resolutions (give up drinking) within about a second, d'oh!
Another New Year's resolution of mine is to 'not put off until tomorrow what could be done today' and I've been keeping it up until now (3 days, go me!).
Happy New Year forumites! :D
I celebrated with a few friends around my house. I don't like going out on New Year's Eve, because I'm a party pooper, and resent the fact that the pubs I drink in every other weekend of the year have the audacity to charge entry for one night, for the privilege of queuing for an hour to get a damned drink! Anyhoo... for those of you with Facebook, you can (unfortunately) view pics and vids of my new year fun. I hear the singstar videos are a hoot, although I haven't been able to bring myself to watch them yet...
I don't have any resolutions made... I could have quit smoking I spose, but I stocked up in Belgium in November and still have loads left. Maybe next year ;) Suppose I could get a bit fitter so that I'm not a scrawny weakling when wedding time comes along.

Were you at my house?! I suppose you could have been... my memory is very hazy!! lol
We had to pack it in about then, because the neighbours were banging on the wall for us to shut up. Philistines! :D

LOL Vik - I never have a resolution to give up drinking. It just won't work :P
I generally don't do New Years Resolutions, but I do sit down and think about what I would like to achieve in the coming year. Last year I wanted to finally graduate (which I did).
This year, my goal is to sell my current business (got a prospective buyer already so looking good :P) and to possibly start up a new one.......if I can get a bit more courage to approach a few people ....gosh, I have a brilliant business idea, backed by market research, and applauded by my Entrepreneurship class and lecturer.....and I'm hesitating to make it happen :P Am I scared of success or something ^^
Edit: HAHA Ches: trundles off to Facebook to check out videos
Second edit: Liar liar pants on fire, there are no videoooooooooss :P *disappointed*
