Oh, nice thread, lotts :D

Archaeologist > geologist >

That is freaky, I wanted to be those two things. Thinking back to when I was a kid and as I've been growing up, my list looks like this:
- Police women
- Ambulance driver (oh shush, I was a kid! who doesn't want go fast through traffic? lol)
- Archaeologist
- Volcanologist
- Dentist
- Geologist
- Radiologist
- Nurse
- Volcanologist > Volcanologist > Volcanologist
- Graphic designer (and actually did it).

Hmm, that's a lot of ists.. Still want to be a Volcanologist, though :D

Here's the progression and why nerds:

Uh old stuff is cool: Archeologist. > But archeology is really not that interesting. And i like throwing rocks: geologist > Rocks get boring eventually. how about killing people and getting away with it: doctor > If people die i go to jail so...: vet > Vets can't train attack dogs, that's government work: naval officer > Federal defense jobs pay too little: mercenary > I could get killed in the field. It'd be more fun to kill people indirectly: weapons builder > Ah but silently too: geneticist > Geneticists save lives, they don't kill people: virologist > Virologists are always the first ones to get fingers pointed at when lab made virii kill people: microbiologist

Not quite how you pictured it eh? Yes, how immature am I?

You're mad.. As far as detailed accounts go.. I don't think I've ever thought quite clearly about where jobs can take me or how boring they can get. Except for being a Volcanologist. I've wanted that more than anything, but my reasons for not going down that route was because lack of job opportunities, especially in the UK. And it's such a specialised field.. *sigh*. I'm pretty happy with what I'm doing though.

Oh, and when one of my sisters were younger (not AJ), someone asked her what she wanted to be when she grew up, and she replied "a clown". Yeah.. we're never going to let her forget that.

I wanted to be Joan Jett.

Okay, fine............I still sort of want that! Otherwise I'd settle for naming the colors on the nail polish bottles. Whoever came up with the name "cherry red" should be shot........surely the name "rip roarin' radish red" woulda sold much more bottles, no?

Well, I was a weird kid.. sooo

Wanted to be Laura Ingalls Wilder (yes! until about 5th grade),
then an artist,
then a historian,
then an archealogist (about 10th grade)
then a paleontologist (can't spell, 11th grade)
then a historian (12th grade)
so I went to college and got my degree in Social Studies Education, then added on English, then art.

So right now I teach American History, American Government, World History, World Geography, 7th grade Social Studies, 8th grade Social Studies, Art History, and Art I, II and III. I know... insane! I used to teach all kinds of literature and English and also home ec!

Hahahaha! Weird, indeed. And I thought wanting to be an ambulance driver was bad! I did love watching Little House On A Prairie, though. I liked Laura Ingalls, heh. XD

And you wanted to be an archealogist, too. Awesome.
/flirt World Geography

/me enlists the aid of Sam_I_am for the stupid trivia quizzes that always have some obscure American History questions. Do you know much about what schools each of the Baseball and Football Coaches went to? Seems that's a popular topic. Oh and The Dark Tower Trilogy - need to find out LOADS about that.

When I was a kid I wanted to be a bartender. Why? So I could collect beer coasters. I really enjoy teaching others new skills - so I guess that's why I train volunteers for General Rescue, Flood Rescue, Storm & Water Damage Salvage Operations and Chainsaw Operations Levels 1, 2 & 3)

I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up.

Q: What do Cops, Paramedics and Firefighters have in common?
A: They all want to be Firefighters!

currently studying multimedia (final yr). Now i wish i could be a video editor . Was considering should i further my studies in digital media or design.
/slap fickle minded.

But more or less it's all about the creative media industry. hmm..

I'm still considering my next career change: Mass Murderer. It has a certain infamy. Even better when they don't figure out who was doing all the murdering. Just look at Jack the Ripper, what a legend :)

I guess it says something about me that I never really had a job in mind as a kid. And as an adult not much has changed.

I'm interested in linguistics and graphical design at the moment (and I can see it last), but that's not what I'm studying :D

I had many dream jobs as a kiddie, here goes.
Newspaper reporter.
Taste tester for mc, donalds:eek:.
Stewardess.
Nurse.
Well im currently none of the above, although ive tasted quiet a bit from the mc,donalds menu:embarrassed:.
The closest ive come to any of the above is, studying midwifery, which im currently doing now.
Also now im older, i quiet fancy being a police diver, cause i do love scuba diveing.

Stuntman, pyrotechnics, hitman, lawyer.

School career advisor hated the first three ideas... Then I got bored of law and became a computer geek instead.

Not sure if I've quite 'grown up' enough to post in this thread yet, but ah wellll.

I had a book when I was about 4 that you fill in, eg drawing round your hair, writing your height & weight, drawing a picture of your birthday party etc. One was 'draw what you want to be when you grow up.'

Can't remember exactly, but I think maybe it started with a teacher, then I changed my mind and drew an ice skater over it, then drew a pop star over that, and then possibly a teacher over the top again..

Now..let's see.
graphics artist > web designer > packaging designer > art director > animator
Anything stated there would be ideal for me (I think. ... What's an art director?). Eeerm.
Oh yeah, I wanted to be a lawyer, but literally the only thing stopping me was the fact that you had to do so much training. So I gave up on that.
Would still like to sing but not in the 'pop star' sense anymore.. =]

Eeer. Child/teens counsillor? That would be really interesting.

But it's most likely gonna be some graphics thingy. We'll seeeeeeee!

I didn't want to be something until I was 7 or 8 and we went to see the Phantom of the Opera in Hamburg. I was so overtaken by that show!! I didn't shut up about it for ages and kept singing the songs all the time, playing the CD etc. I think I knew at that time that I wanted to work on the stage. Even now, at the young age of 24, I get chills and goosepimples when I see someone on stage or even think about it.

I'm not there yet, although I still have the desire to, but one day my health will improve and I'm sure it'll happen. Does that mean I can still say 'When I grow up, I want to work on stage'?

I always wanted to be a vet, but my mum put me off the idea when she told me I'm too soft! She was right, mard arse I am, I'd just cry having to put an ill animal to sleep.

Now that I'm on the steeper side of the growing up curve, I want to do sign language. Have to start looking at the courses now for the intake of students for September. Can I be bothered? Watch this space.
