View Full Version : Pixely drawings... *confused*

This never used to happen with my old computer, but now I play iSketch on my laptop. So I'm thinking it's my computers problem, anyone know how to fix this? (Please help!)
When it's my turn to draw I draw and with each single click/stroke, my drawing turns pixely. The more strokes I use the pixely-er it gets. This doesn't happen when other people draw, just when it's my turn to draw.
Anyone know how to fix this and if it's my computer's problem? If it's my computer's problem, please someone tell me how to fix it =\
Thanks a bunch! :)

Sounds an odd one. Have you tried updating the Shockwave and Flash Players? (Shockwave would be the more likely culprit as iSketch uses that)
www.adobe.com is where they're available from.
I don't think it would be related to your graphic card driver but it's always worth checking for updated drivers if they're available. I'd try the Shockwave player first though.
Hope that helps.

Ok, thanks, I'll try that!
By the way, I also get this weird statiky sound sometimes when I play. It usually happens when the games sound gets messed up (I don't know how!) and it sounds like some kind of beeping and weather alert o_O sound. Any reason why?
******EDIT******
I installed the latest version of both the Shockwave and Flash player, and it's improved (not as pixely with each click), but it is still kind of pixely everytime I make a new stroke.. any other possible solutions?
PS - How would I check for an update on my graphic card driver? (I'm not computer savvy) ;)
About the sound - I get that sometimes too. When the timer is up after someone's guessed, it keeps on ticking and then turns into chaos. I have no solution other than to turn off your speakers though :S The game is not effected at all for me during this sound weirdness.
That odd beep could be your internal speaker warning you for overheating.
I once had that when I paused a certain game which was quite heavy on the resources. When I went to the kitchen for a drink one day, I thought I heard an ambulance. It wasn't moving I walked towards the window but the sound wasn't coming from that side, so I walked over to the other side of the house. Not there either... And all of a sudden it was gone.
After this had happened a few times I discovered it was my computer :D
I made more of an effort to cool it and it worked out.
Though iSketch doesn't seem a very resource-consuming game, it could be that your computers have a special kind of trouble with some actions... See if it's exceptionally warm -- maybe buy a bigger fan or get some ice cubes out every time you're going to play :D
--edit: oh, I see it's coming from your boxes, Vik? Well then disregard what I wrote. If it's coming from the computer itself this could be the problem though ...

.. but it is still kind of pixely everytime I make a new stroke.. any other possible solutions?
Which bit depth is your laptop screen currently using? 24 bits or higher is the recommended setting - maybe the strokes are not being anti-aliased.
Nay, my speakers are built into my monitor. I know the beep that you are talking about, it happened to me too to warn me when my old comp overheated (flippin thing, had to set the fan at it's highest level, bloody loud and it still happened after a while) but this comp is new and hasn't had that problem. If I knew how, I'd record the sound. It's like static with high pitched beeps, really horrible noise. It comes from the speakers and stops when I turn the volume off and when I restart iSketch.
You know how when someone guesses the word and the timer goes red for the grace period countdown, and if you haven't disabled it, there is a ticking sound. Well, what happens is the ticking doesn't stop after the round is over, it carries on while the next person is drawing and after a few seconds turns into this unholy screeching and beeping noise that I described above. It doesn't happen everytime, maybe once per day or less, and it doesn't effect any other part of the game. Personally I just turn off my sound and carry on.
EDIT: I knew I'd read this problem before - more discussion on it here http://www.isketchforum.net/crazy-sound-madness-t1622.html

Vik - that's exactly what happens to me, like after the timer is up it keeps ticking and just turns into chaos! I just usually exit out of the window and sign in again.
Sense/net - I'm not sure if this is what your talking about, but when I went to Display Settings (right click on desktop>properties) and went to the Settings tab it said Highest (32 bit) under Color Quality, should I change it to Medium (16 bit) ?
***EDIT*** I changed it to 16 bit, but it was still the same, more pixels with each stroke. I'm not sure about how to solve this problem, but I want to know what the problem is! lol
P.S. - thanks everyone for your help and replies! :)

No, 32 bit is fine. I'd suggest writing to iSketch feedback (info@isketch.net) with the details of your problem. Good luck!
