Oh dear, so it's back.
The mods are going to be watching this thread like huge green hawks. If anything personal is said in here that could be interpreted to be about other members of the forum, or people in iSketch then it will be dealt with.
Think before you type! If it's something you think might be borderline, don't say it. Don't even bother trying to disguise a nasty remark, just don't say it in the first place.
This is this thread's very last chance. If it get out of control again it's gone for good.
Apart from that, have fun complaining, moaning, sulking, pouting, whining, carping, fault-finding, reproaching, and generally being vexed and fed-up!
RC: Those blooming strict mods. Damn them! Damn them all to hades! I want to go to blue alert!

This is an old RC that I have been meaning to post...
I took a teaching job here in Colorado in 2004. Because it's a public job I had a bazillion forms to fill in. No problem.
Then in 2006 I took a substitute cook position for Meals on Wheels for a couple weeks in the summers and a couple days of month when there is no school. This is also a public job, so I had to fill in the same crappy bureaucratic forms. Again, no problem... wrong!
I got about 5 copies of the same form mailed to me separately over the next few weeks. It was one of the forms I had just filled in, so I called them up after the fifth one arrived and asked what was going on...
Here is that convo...
Me: Why do you keep sending me Form 2xte46s? i have already filled it in twice (once for my teaching job and for this new one)
State person somewhere in A/C office in Denver: Well, this is the replacement to said form, which became obsolete in 2005, you have to fill it in and send it to us.
Me: Can't you just look at the old form? It has the same exact info..
State person: No, after we enter the data from the form into our {stupid, anal, never-working-- my words] computer database, we shred the documents.
Me: So why do you need this form if the information is already in the computer
State person: We have to verify that you used Form cnaf7d3q updated
Me: Can't you just look into the database, and I can tell you that everything is current?
State person: no, sorry, you have to mail the form back to us
Me: What if I don't? What if I am happy that the information you have in the computer is accurate and up-to-date?
State person: We will keep mailing the form to you until you comply.
I hung up. I sent the form with my name telling them to keep all other information as in the computer databse, put on my $.39 stamp, and mailed it off. Please note, I did not update my information!
So anyways, here is the RC: The state spent how much money updating a form that was no different than the previous form, so that it could spend several dollars (and possibly more) mailing me the corrected form that they don't even keep on file because everything is computerized and that they will shred as soon as they check it against the information in their coimputer system (even though I was already entered in the computer system). Talk about a waste of time, money and effort!

Yeesh, Sam. Want me to go help you beat them up? :)
RC: I was in the nursery today (I volunteer and look after little babies) and the adult helper saw that one kid had his shoe off. I was right next to him, so she tried to toss the shoe to me, but it bounced off my arm a couple times while I was trying to catch it... and I had a hard time catching it because I was holding this little kid who was trying to pull my hair out. Anyways, it must've been a really hard shoe because my arm's starting to bruise and the whole thing, from shoulder to wrist, aches like crazy.
RC2: I'm almost two thirds through the old RC thread... I'm trying to save all the funny bits of it. There's so much, though... I kind of wish we could keep it. I mean, it's locked, right? And a bunch of the bad posts have been deleted... :(
Anyways, greenies, please, please, please give me a couple more days.
Hmm. And something that just came to mind - once the old RC thread is deleted, will the posts not count towards your post count? I don't care about post counts. I'm just curious. Like usual.

Not that I'm boasting or anything, but I've finished half of mine. Ner ner!
Don't give up, Deadlock and Nerdy, it's rewarding once they are finished :)
Here is some advice
1. let the tone of the invite reflect the tone of the wedding (i.e. ultra-posh, dead casual etc) as the invite will be the first taste your guests will have of your wedding
2. let your invite reflect the two of you (silly, clever, posh, etc)
3. include a simple element that you can carry on through all your wedding stationary, some kind of easy-to-reproduce motif.

RC: People that feel they have to be smoking or drinking to have fun.
Oh, don't even get me started on that! What's worse is that if you don't drink or smoke, then they consider YOU as someone who doesn't have fun. Oh, I have fun, thank you. And it doesn't need require me vomiting. Or having short term memory loss. My seizures do that for me, lol. I've never had a smoke in my life, and never had a sip of alcohol, even (no really, I'm actually serious, lol). I've never even been tempted to, and I know a lot of people (silly people), looked down at me because of it. But I've seen the benefits in my life without both things that generally carry negative implications, and I'm happy. Some people refuse to see that, though. I don't mind people who drink and smoke, but I generally dislike it when people turn to you and treat you as the most boring thing on the face of this planet. Well, excuuuuusse me, I have a personality :P And I know how to have fun! :D
Whoops, you got me started :P And that's my RC, too.
I think therefore I am.
I drink therefore I'm... who? lol
I think most people treat drinking in the same way I do. A glass of wine/beer now and then at home, and a couple when I go out. I enjoy it, it's healthy in small amounts, and in a nervewracking/unnatural situation (like a party full of strangers) it can ease nerves. But yeah, drinking does not equal fun necessarily! It does annoy me when people think they cannot possibly have fun without being steaming drunk, and it annoys me when I see friends who don't drink looked down upon for it, although it's equally annoying when people who don't drink, preach to us alcoholics as one friend of mine used to do all the time until we stopped inviting him for being a killjoy! :P Actually it's interesting but in Britain (probably cause the typical Brit is a bit tense naturally) there is a lower alcohol consumption than in a lot of mediteranean countries, and yet more drink related crime. I think for some reason it's ingrained in the Brit mindset that drinking = rowdiness and violence, while more laid back countries enjoy it more for what it is. Not labelling everyone the same, just making an observation.
RC: I'm out of wine, damnit! jk :P
Totally agree with you, I hate to say it, but it's often teens who abuse alcohol and give it a bad name!

RC: Dangerous drivers! Look before you move!
I've never really witnessed an accident before, but while we were in the car, some crazy woman comes out of one of the side roads (on a two way road), and a motorbike almost hit her because she didn't look the other way. The motorcyclist turned quickly to avoid getting hit, but I think he did a bit, (it was very hard to catch it in my angle), he did a hard turn and found himself flying off his motorbike and literally bouncing (not rolling) in the middle of the road, while the motorbike went straight into another car. Seeing him bounce around like that, over and over again was just too much though. I thought he was about to bounce straight into another car in the opposite direction. Thankfully the car saw him and stopped, otherwise I'm pretty sure that would have ended beyond terrible.
And then he got up. He was able to walk, etc. Thank God for that. That was definitely a miracle if you saw how much he was rolling/bouncing after he went flying off the bike. :| I'm just glad he's okay. I don't think I'll be able to get that out of my head. That's definitely a reminder for all car drivers, pedestrians, bike riders, etc to always watch the road before you make a move.

RC: Mr Hunky's parents are refusing to come to our wedding. I've never actually met them before because they've been trying to avoid meeting me. Go figure. But it's because he's white and I'm Asian, and they still haven't grasped onto the idea that it's not a big deeeeal! Gosh, how hard can it be?
They say they're happy for him, and have no problems because he is happy and they're glad that he's the happiest he's ever been, but then.. pfft.. they haven't quiet accepted me. So it's hard on him too. I invited them over... to meet them. The outcome? Nothing. It would be nice to actually meet my future in-laws. *sigh*. It makes me sad because I see how nice my parents are with Mr Hunky. They absolutely adore him. He's very lucky that my parents rock (baised opinion) and treat him really, really well. They treat him like family :) He's great with my parents too.
I'm a huge 'family, family' sort of person. I wanted the same opportunity with his parents. Get to know them, etc. I think they'll probably end up accepting it more after we marry. And then they'll probably only start wanting to meet me after I produce beautiful mixed raced grandkids for them...

OMG thats awful. Indeed we all are the same, we all have red blood and we all are human.
Are you certain it's because it's a mixed raced wedding ?
A few years ago, my best friends brother (David ) met a girl (Emma) on holiday, after the holiday they met up a few times, then out of the blue David announced they were getting married, ( they were both of the same race, so this wasn't the issue)
However Davids parents weren't happy at all, the reasons were because they hadn't even met his girl, yet their son was going to marry her, also Davids father was concerned, as David had only known the girl 4 months and David dad thought it wasn't in character of his son to propose to a girl without the family meeting her first. Davids mother also felt put out, as all the wedding plans had been made by David's girlfriend and her parents ( eg. church, hotel, cake, wedding cars etc etc). In the end David and Emma delayed the wedding until the following summer by this time all the families had met, thus also showing everyone that one year on that David and Emma were really in love with each other. ( They have now been married 4 years and have a beautiful Daughter).
With my own wedding, I had known my in laws for 3 years by the time we got married, so on our wedding day, my in laws weren't losing a son, infact they weren't even gaining a daughter, because by this time they had already accepted me into their family, and I was already a daughter to them.
I know you are both adults and can make your own choices, but as a mother of 3 son's if any of my sons ( in years to come) told me they were getting married and they hadn't known their wife to be very long or I hadn't met her, being totally honest as a mother, I think I would be concerned/upset to, ( no matter how happy my son was).
I know you have invited your in laws to be over and they didn't accept perhaps it's just that they might be in shock by the speed of the wedding, rather than it being a race problem.
Just my views...

OMG thats awful. Indeed we all are the same, we all have red blood and we all are human. Are you certain it's because it's a mixed raced wedding ?
Of course. I wouldn't have complained about it if I didn't know that was the reason.
I know you have invited your in laws to be over and they didn't accept perhaps it's just that they might be in shock by the speed of the wedding, rather than it being a race problem.
Just my views...
I hear where you're coming from in your examples, but in this situation.. nope. It's been a race thing since the beginning. In terms of having a say in the wedding, in our religion we have two "wedding celebrations". The first (being the wedding day) is organised by the women's side. And the second, being the post-marriage celebration (which tends to be just as big as the wedding day itself) is organised by the man's side. So Mr Hunky is taking care of all the second day venue, food, expenses, etc. His parents can be part of it if they want to.
Anyway, my point is that it has nothing to do with anything else. He predicted this would happen because he knows his parents. Even the first time he met me, he said this would be an issue for his parents - because I'm Asian. We laughed about it. They're in an area of England that is full of white people and white people only. They've lived there all their lives, and haven't really "mixed" with other races properly. Not only that, but being their son, they always thought he'd marry a white girl, blah, blah.
They are actually very genuinely happy for him, because they've seen how happy is he on the inside and outside. They just haven't come to terms with the rest, lol. Tough luck, they'd better get used to it because I'm not going to be painting my face white. Too much effort. :P
I hear where you're coming from in your views, jewels. But, I truly wouldn't have stated my disappointment without knowing first as to why. I know this is the reason because they've admitted it. I guess the good thing is that I get on really, really well with his sister though. She rocks! :) I do love her. So at least I know some of his family. But I know it's hard for him not having his parents there on the wedding day, especially since they are close. They've never hated each other. They're not the sort to disown him because he's marrying an Asian, but at the same time, they haven't come to terms with it yet.
RC: My bedroom is an absolute tip... So is the study room, for that matter, lol. /hides from AJ. *sigh* I'm finally getting rid of those all school books that I didn't want to part with XD

Are they coming to the second celebration?
Nope.. heh. I'm still going to be there :P It's not like we threw it in their face in the last possible moment that I'm Asian and he's getting married. They've known about this. They just haven't gone out of their way to even want to meet me. They've been putting it off for ages. I know people think it could be a shocking piece of news, that's why they're not coming, but that's really not the case. Mr Hunky knew they were going to be like this from the moment he met me. They are 60 year olds living in a small town of just white people. They're just not used to people of a different race. I guess I have to be forgiving of their ignorance. If they tried, I know they'd like me, and it wouldn't be such a big deal to them after. It's just a matter of getting them to that level.
Meh, their loss. I think I'm quite a nice person  Humble too? LOL!!
At least his sister loves me and is coming to the wedding :D We get on well. And some of his extended family are coming :) (who don't live where his parents live). His parents are probably going to regret this later. Ah well.

I'm sorry to hear that, Nerdy, I know you felt it might turn out that way. It's bound to cast a bit of a shadow over your wedding plans ... but I hope it doesn't cast a shadow over the wedding and I know you won't let it affect your marriage. As you say, they may come round after the wedding, it will be a done deal then and they may decide they have to get to know you because otherwise they'll stop knowing their son - or they may wait until grandchildren come along. Or, to be pessimistic, they may not change their views at all. The only thing you can do is make a success of your marriage and be happy you have a husband who has always been honest with you about how his parents would feel.
You can't force Mr Hunky's parents to meet you, and until they do, they won't change their minds about anything. All you can do is have a happy married life; if their daughter sees how happy her brother is and reports back to her parents, then they may begin to feel as though they're missing something.
You've always been very realistic and practical about all this, it's all you can be. As you said, they are ignorant - it will take time to make them less so.
*hugs Nerdy*

Not really a complaint, it's a sadness, but my friend's dad passed away this morning. She's nice and everything but we've never been close and now I just feel really guilty about stuff. My sister (older than nerdy) and her sister were best friends since the age of 11, it's a shame we weren't that close. But we're gonna try and go visit them tomorrow, I just hope I can be supportive enough like she was when my Grandfather passed away.

Then they didn't even let the boys call home so in the meantime we were worrying. I phoned up as soon as we got home and I got an apology. The Head of Department will call back tomorrow once she gets the full story from the supply teacher.
RC3: I just went to send off about 8-10 parcels for my sister at the post office. I only had two left and some woman who was there before me had the cheek to go "Excuse me, but I've been waiting to send off one package for the last half hour and I've had to fill out all these forms because I don't know which one's the right one" What does she want me to do about it?! Give her a "Britain's stupidest Post Office Virgin" sticker?!
Is it my fault she's a doofus who doesn't know how to read forms?! She was there before me, blamed it on the post office guy that he didn't tell her what forms to fill out and then bit off my head cos I was posting all my stuff as fast as I could!
Then the stupid, stupid, STUPID woman made me wait while she posted her stuff and THEN I posted my last two packages.

RC: Have to rewrite some english coursework. What's the point of coursework if the teacher keeps giving it back with corrections? This is my third draft.
Be glad that's only your third draft. My drama teacher was really strict with our coursework, she never accepted anything lower than an A. We'd hand in our first draft and when we got it back at the end of the day it would be covered in red ink. God it was depressing. We would have every single draft returned like that whether it was the 2nd or 13th draft! It paid off in the end, hang in there :)

RC: I just saw an email from my tutor sent to me yesterday saying that he received my second assignment (cos the first one royal mail lost) but he couldn't recall giving me a formal extension.
I've now had to try and remember dates that I called up who I spoke to and when. I spoke to his wife cos he was away then she called him and asked for an extension on my behalf which I got. I took 2 weeks off of studying cos I needed the break and then I called my tutor again explaining that I unintentionally took off too much time and needed another extension, well I was checking it was ok to still submit my work late.
He understood at the time and cos he was away he said I could have until the time that he came home to submit my work; which I did. Which is when it got lost in the post.
I called him up recently asking for my results cos they weren't available on my student homepage, he said he didn't get it so I resubmitted it. This is the email I now received from him, saying to explain dates and who gave confirmation and when. I kinda feel like I'm appealing for them to accept my late assignment.
Just the thought of them not accepting my assignment is making me feel sick. I spent days working on that thing, it wasn't fair that it got lost. I gave proof that I submitted within the time of my extension. I think it's completely unfair that he said the extension wasn't formal. It's not my fault he was away. I didn't know I was supposed to make a formal extension through my regional center, even though I called them and told them at one point I was unable to contact him. They said to only call back if I really couldn't reach him but I did, so I didn't see the point in calling them back.
I feel like giving up completely. If this assignment doesn't get accepted why should I do the next assignment which I want to get done within the next five days? Why should I revise for the exam? In fact why should I even sit the exam? Not to sound big headed but I think this would have been my best assignment so far, I reckon I'd have got at least 90% and I need it to boost my overall marks. Without it I've screwed it all up and there's pretty much no hope in getting a half decent mark. This sucks.

Firstly tasha ive been fishing this weekend so ive been on the missing list since sat morning.
Now for the complaint, i caught a great big fish at 2am sunday morning, a 17lb stergeon, which is a fish that looks like a shark kinda.
Anyway i had a fight to reel him in it took half an hour or so.
He fought like hell, but i got him to the edge of the bank in the end.
So i shouted hey mick mick get the landing net hun, ( mick aka mr cherry ).
Anyway he walks over with the net, i get the fish in the net job done.
Then i lay him out take the hook out of his mouth ect and lay him in the keepnet for weighing.
All hard work as well big heavy fish lol, then for the picture of my biggest fish in weight so far, ok smile cherry say cheese, then bam nothing the bugger dident put the batteries in the digital camera, and by this time the fish needed to go back in to the lake, im standing there holding a 17lb fish with a look of sheer annoyance on my face, and he laughs LAUGHS FFS.
H e is still in the dog house im not speaking to him for now bloody men.
Hense every time he has a big catch there is a picture to back it up.

RC: 2 hours of maths homework!
We're supposed to get 3 or 4 pieces of homework a day.. if every teacher gave us that much we'd have 6-8 hours a night!
We did have that much per night :/ I'm not sure how or why, but my school was very strict back then, considering it was a public school. All my other friends at different schools only spent a few hours per day on homework. And on some days wouldn't get any! Plus, most of them seemed to do 9 GCSE's, but we had to do 11. I remember coming home from school, collapsing on my bed after the long walk for just a few mins, and then getting out my school books and working up until midnight on a lot of nights, eating my dinner over my homework, and talking to my sisters and parents while doing my homework. Those were years 10 and 11. Those days were horrid. AJ being 4 years younger than me, when she got to that stage she did nowhere near the hours we had to do :( Poopooheads.

(Maybe I shouldn't be posting all this on the internet.. a teacher'll see it & start setting me extra work )
Lol, I guess my school is pretty good compared to most! Don't get a lot of homework, am getting a lot of exams out of it, don't have a long day, and finish early.
Er..RC? Nerdy was made to work far too hard at school!
I'm scared to share what hours my students do. Regular students go to school from 7:40 until 3:40 on Tuesdays through Fridays. I'd be shocked is they did more than one hour of homework, maybe two for those in college classes. If juniors or seniors wish (grade 11/12) they can take what is called O hour where they take College Chemistry from 7:20 am until 8:10.
For a small school we offer lots of college level classes... College Chem, College Biology, Psychology, Sociology, College English, College Spanish. They can take AP American History and can earn college credit for that. In any case when many students graduate high school they will already be a sophomore (year 2) in the university level.

My son was playing football with his mates, a women who lives round the corner who is a wingy old bat took the ball out of my sons hands called him a dick and took the ball inside her house.
I was fuming he dident do anything wrong she confussed him with another child who kicks cans in her garden for fun.
So i went to her house and told her politley to give the ball back, she refused, so i asked again and she slammed the door in my face.
N ow i was ready for an all out row with her, but instead i did the sensible thing and called the community police who have been round.
They told her either give back the ball or face charges of theft and abuse on a minor, she soon gave it back.
Why do some people hate children so much, i will watch this old hag from now on and she will not get away with it again, not to my kids anyway.
RC: There's never any decent clothes in my size. Everything that's really pretty is size 12+ What happened to clothes with nice prints that aren't slutty or make you look naked?!
I swear size 10 is like the most popular size, so why does nothing nice exist? You'd think I was asking for a lot

But wait, there's a book after that too. Ok I admit to lolling at the time, but don't teach kids how to be chavs or anything

RC: Well been busy. Way too busy. And after awhile it just weighs you down. But you lot give me some reason to smile :) so I guess I ahve some RH too ;)
RC: I'm not one for gossip, but i will accept funny stories if they're ok to tell. So this morning a coworker told me funny occurrence of another coworker. I had assume it was not gossip, that it was ok for her to tell, because she told me. No warning it was gossip or anything, so i figured i could have a laugh with that coworker the anecdote was about. When asked what the experience was like, the affected coworker didn't react as it had been funny at all, and now i'm a tight spot. Good thing the gossiping party was also there at the moment i made the indiscretion of asking about it and she's in a tighter spot yet. ♥♥♥♥ing ♥♥♥♥♥.

Firstly, apologies in case anyone takes the slutty comment the wrong way lol, that's not my intention of course, I just don't like much of the stuff that's out now, even the prints are kinda yuck =/
Yeah I'm not into designer labels, I'll buy stuff if it is cheap, so long as the quality is good and it looks nice, that's all that matters really.
RC: My handwriting is disgusting!
RC2: I regret stuffing up my first 2 assignment for my second year maths course which I took a year early. It now means I have to do exceptionally well from this point onwards. If I get at least 90% in my last assignment that I did and at least 95% in the assignment I'm gonna hand in today, then I need a minimum of 90% in the exam in order to get a distinction for this course. Wishful thinking!
It's possible, I know I can do it, I just don't like being very borderline between well above average and above average. It's such a painful feeling when you *just* miss a top score, it happens way too often. For once I'd like to achieve something without the worry of being borderline.
RC: Call centres giving you incorrect information. I called the Foreign and Commonwealth office regarding getting a new passport in my married name and they told me how to go about it, but that I'd have to do it in Germany. So I called the British Consulate and they told me everything the FCO guy said was total rubbish and that I must have been talking to the tea-boy. Places where the advice they give you is actually important and could have a serious impact on your legal status within a country should really train their staff before unleashing them on the general public. Not impressed, making an official complaint.

RC: Trying to replace a fuse in my FM tunebase transmitter for my car for my iPod. Here is the run-around...
1. Read the manual... the fuse can be found in any auto parts store.
2. Visit auto parts stores (3 of them) and a Radio Shack... no luck.
3. Call the company... put on hold for 10 minutes... hang up
4. Email the company... immediately get a reply that I have to use the link at the website even though it was the link I just used...
3. Resubmit the email saying that I can't find a replacement fuse, only those of higher amps or the same amp and wrong size.
4. A week later.. get a reply... and I quote "You can not replace the fuse, only the entire unit, call this toll free number and extension to resolve the issue."
5. Immediately call the company... on hold for 10 minutes... Can't understand the person, but he informs me that I can find the fuse in any auto parts store... so I explain the whole situation... he tells me to call the toll free number and dial extension 6.
6. Call extension 6 and they don't even let me talk before they inform me that this is "Sales" and I need "tech support" and blip... I am transferred and on hold again.
7. Tech support... the guy there tells me that I can go to any auto parts store (aagghh!) and I tell the whole thing about the different amp or same amp and wrong size. He tells me that the longer fuse will work...
FINALLY! Now I can buy the fuse... but now I am 50 miles to the nearest Radio Shack which has those fuses of the right amp... grrrrrrr.
