I was reminded of this the other day when my friend told me a scary spider story - and I remembered posting something up here once about my own spider experience, however, I did a search and can't find it. But hers is scarier so Ima post that
WARNING - Do not read if you are arachnophobic!!
Well, apparently a female friend of hers was going for a ride on her boyfriend's motorbike, put on her helmet, slid down the visor and THERE on the INSIDE of the visor RIGHT IN FRONT OF HER EYES it was!!
If you don't know what a huntsman looks like:

What would you have done? You couldn't exactly open your mouth to scream......

Holy z0mgness  That's truck loads worse than your story. Crap! What would you have done?
Besides cacking myself, I would have pinched my mouth shut, closed my eyes tightly and pushed my nose and lips close together to prevent the spider going up my nose whilst letting out a muffled scream and pulling the helmet off as fast as I could and prayed the bugger hadn't already leaped on my face! Dude, that's just awful!

Holy..
I remember your story and think you were so brave! It's a shame you can't find it, it made a good write up XD
But yeah.. I honestly don't know how I would have handled that situation. I'm guessing I would have definitely cried and seized up out of fright.. and probably flap my arms around.. like I normally do when I see a spider or snake..
I'm so not going to click that spider picture link thing.. :| I'm still regretting the last time I did that on the forum, when I think another ex Aussie member put up a picture of a spider.. that comes in twos... O_O Where there is one, there is another! :| Can't remember what it's called, but it was UUUUUUUGLY!

Apparently, we all eat 3 spiders a year while we are asleep. They crawl over your face, you chew them up, and don't know anything about it.
I don't like the thought of that. So I just eat 3 spiders on January 1st every year, to get it over with

lol at the last bit! XD
I heard it was an average of 7 times in your lifetime? Maybe I've got it wrong then.. I think I heard this a good 10 years ago. I've always told people it was 7. Oops? lol.
It is freaky.. but good thing we're asleep when it happens. Makes us unaware, lol.
Apparently, we all eat 3 spiders a year while we are asleep.
See now I've heard that but I'm not sure if I believe it. Whoever carried out the experiment for this might have just filmed a few people sleeping over a year then taken the average number of spiders they ate. They could have filmed just two people and who knows, they might have been spider eaters for a living.
I don't like the thought of that. So I just eat 3 spiders on January 1st every year, to get it over with
That's a joke, right? :|
Makes us unaware, lol.
Well I'm not unaware now!

I know the spiders we get in UK aren't that scary or venomous, but I rememebr once as a kid I kept hearing this "tick tick click" noise in the dark. Ignored it but it kept happening, in the end I got out of bed and turned on the light, and right next to my pillow was one of them fat house spiders you see, big legs and fat body, on the wall ... tick tick click! I wonder if it was his fangs clattering on the wall as he advanced in the dark ...
About the eating spiders thing, it's an urban myth. Spiders don't like wet, noisy, alive places! They have no reason to go anywhere near your mouth.
Saffy, if that had been me I'd have no option other than to die. I really cannot imagine anything worse than that. Well, apart from loved ones dying or something.

I can imagine they must go up your nose though.. O_O Or come out of your nose.. lol
Clearly I've seen Arachnophobia (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0099052/) too many times..

Oh good, my mouth covers two out of three of those. Now I just need to learn to snore to be fully protected

You mean I've been eating spiders for nothing? Pah! What a waste of my time!
They're sure big and scary, i'd freak, but i think huntsman spiders aren't particularly venomous.

Argh! o.O
What did the friend of the friend do? I would've like squeeze my eyes shut, pressed my head as far back as possible and tried to slowly take the helmet off... it must've been really terrufying coz helmets are so head-hugging (yes, I made that word up) :O
And, and, OMG Deadlock... tick tick click... ew =| Sound effects in the dark o_o
>_<

Well apparently, her boyfriend noticed the unusual sight, and simply lifted the visor up and calmly flicked it away.
I, however, would have ripped my helmet off along with my head and not even noticed.

Hehe, sorry, I have a really funny image in my head.
I'm liking 'head-hugging', although not in the context of a face-hugging spider.
I was reading something the other day where someone wrote that where scientists say that a huge spider is 'as large as a dinner plate' they are simply refraining from causing panic by not describing it as 'large enough to fit over your face'.

They may not be particularly venomous 2.0 - but trust me, if I saw one I am sure the end result would be fatal to me!!

 /faints
Yeah i'm pretty sure there would be a lot of screaming and slapping my head and running around from me!!! I hate spiders!!! Not sure if I can be classified as arachnaphobic or not but I sure as heck am freaked of spiders!
My sister who is in the Navy and stationed in Iraq right now is scared to death that she will run into One of these (http://www.jreece.com/FunnyFotos/Animals/Camel%20Spider%20In%20Iraq.jpg) on her way to the bathroom at night or something!
These are not technically spiders...they are related to the scorpion but still freaky nonetheless! And here is a pic and story of a bite from 1 of them!
Not for the squeemish!!! Camel Spider Bite (http://www.camelspiders.net/camel-spider-bite.htm)

Same reaction as TF. I just imagined a spider large enough to cover my face...*winces*

Oh...my...God...IT'S HUGE! I don't care if it's not a spider, or whatever, it's huge and if I saw one in my house, I'd run straight out the door and not enter until someone did something about it. :embarrassed: Jesus Christ, I can't get over how BIG it is. >_<

Mstr 7 was bitten by an ant in the jump pit at Little Athletics. He came into the main hall looking for some Stingose or something from the first aid kit to ease the sting. Obviously, the first aid kit hadn't been used for a while, because...when I opened the lid and moved aside something.....*shudders*
Anyhoo, I calmly walked out into the hall, and asked if anyone knew where the first aid kit was, and could they please get me some Stingose. After a few looks, and comments of "but it's right there....open....", someone twigged onto it. So she went in, picked it up, let it run up and down her arm....whilst she walked through the hall to take it outside, with adults and kids running in all directions. She picked it off her shoulder, where it had run to and walked back inside to revive everyone who had fainted.

 What was it!!!
Ughh.. I almost killed myself tonight, travelling home from a night out  A spider chose it's moment carefully to bungee jump from my sun visor and swing into my face.
It isn't the first time this has happened either :S Why can't spider's bungee jump from someone else's sun visor - why do they always have to choose mine?

Why do I keep torturing myself by coming back to this thread each time it gets bumped!
Edit: TF, it's 'cause they loves you, innit. XD

Actually, all those single vehicle accidents, with no apparent cause....
I have a theory - largely to do with what you just posted.

...and you probably aren't far wrong, sadly. It was a terrifying experience - I had to pull over for five minutes to calm myself down  Mr TF just laughed. Troll.

It was a kitten. A cute, fluffy kitten. Some people fainted because it was so cute.
