The image on the left is a photo I took down at the beach of this circular rock pool with a big boulder in the middle which I thought was pretty cool. On the right is actress hottie Kristin Kreuk best known for her lead role in the hit series Smallville.

Having a dual-screen set up like the one I showed above is so freaking awesome. The right one is really good for doing word docs, browsing the web and stuff because of it's vertical orientation, the left one is good for movies & design work. Perfec'.

I like to keep it clean and simple...so I can look at my beautiful baby unhindered :biggrin:

My work computer's kinda buggy... there's no way to get the background to work and whether you click yes or no on the error warning, you get the warning all over again.

I wish i could, the computer is a network terminal, my account is at the "user" level. I know the password for a poweruser account and the administrative password for this computer, and the backgrounds work fine on both. So it's a bug on my profile only and IT hasn't figured out how to fix it and they won't give my account domain privs so i can fix it myself.

Nope. Bastards won't give me the power. I know it's simply a matter of replacing the corrupt desktop.htt file from the folder, but getting access to that folder is the trick. it's locked out from all sides, only a domain superadmin can unlock it, and that guy is always too busy or too far away from his office (like now, he's in the states somewhere) to fix this for me. But it's ok, it's been a year like that, i don't mind anymore. Plus, in 2 weeks this will be the the computer of the poor bastard that will take my job when i leave, and it'll be serviced before then (wiped clean and given a new server image), so i really don't care. Still, it's fun to play the "click Yes as many times and as fast as you can until you get a blue screen and the computer crashes" game.

Oh I used to do a similar thread to this on another forum I visit.

My desktop doesn't change often, but I keep it nice and tidy, shame its not the same for my bedroom.

I don't have a task bar; the programs that are open appear as icons on the top (the large ones). I launch programs by firing up Launchy, which allows you to type the name of the program (or document, if you configure it in a certain way), and will open the program for you. It learns about your preferences too, so things you use a lot it'll guess after one or two letters. The desktop shell (to replace the normal desktop and task bar) is Emerge. Takes some configuration too, but it's not hard if you read the documents.

(I typed all that mostly because the image is still uploading, haha)

Hahah it's funny, lately I'm seeing all kinds of references to the Animaniacs...I have a volume of 5 DVDs of their shows (included are Pinky and the Brain and Slappy the Squirrel episodes too) that K and I have been watching recently...it's great stuff. Truly reminiscent of a '90s childhood :twisted:

One episode that we just watched, Brain needed a large sum of money to buy the machine he wanted to use to take over the world, so he went on the game show "Gyp-parody" and the host kept calling him Brian...and K was like "He called him Briaannnnnn!!!" *many giggles* It's amusing the things that a 3 year old notices xD

It is most definitely a North American thing, and a thing from the mid-90s. I'm certain it isn't on tv anymore but you can probably get it on DVD somewhere. I know there's quite a bit on YouTube. This will give you the basic premise of the show:

if you look close enough, you'll notice a a certain order to the icons on the bar. Neither of us likes opening the applications folder to look for programs.

I think that we should stick to the basis of this thread, which seems more to be along the lines of simply sharing images of our desktops with one another. I also think it is fine to comment on others, but perhaps only if a) you are sharing your own image, and b) only if it is a positive comment. Desktops are personal creations and I believe no-one wants to be criticised, or feel they are being criticised, for their work of art.

That's just my opinion anyway! :)

Awwe thanks db! Yeah I usually have a somewhat non-relaxing desktop (except for the minimalism when it comes to icons...anything more than the recycle bin agitates me) but this picture was too beautiful for me to pass up! I yoinked it off of one of my friends' Facebook albums :)
