Alright, well I registered my name, left4shred, when I first started playing. I made some friends and got my profile how I wanted it. Well until now i've only played on one computer but I just installed Windows on my laptop (I've been using Linux on it forever) so I can watch Netflix and play iSketch in bed. I typed in my username and then my password. I logged in but all my settings are gone. My friends are missing and my stats are reset. I just tested it and I don't even need a password to login.

Does anyone know what's wrong/how to fix this?

Your profile is still on the old computer.

that's what i was guessing. I guess that iSketch just loads it off a file they put on your computer instead of storing it online?

Do you know where this file would be found?

I'm wondering about your registration Left4shred, how did you get that registration? you logged on and made a password? have you emailed Feedback about your registration? because if your name is registered (which is RARE anyway) it should remain registered even if you log on from another computer. I can log in aswell as Left4shred. Doesn't sound registered to me...

Well, actually, my previous statement wasn't correct. The game recognized the old computer as "you/Left 4 Shred". It didn't recognize the new computer as "Left 4 Shred".

I had a similar problem -- I went to a gf's house and I logged in as my nick -- but I had a newbie dot on my name! Which didn't make sense. Because the game didn't associate my nick on that computer.

I thought I could just type in my nick and have all my settings, friends, etc., but that was incorrect.

This is what i'm talking about. and my name is left4shred on it. not Left 4 Shred. It's fine ever I'm on the desktop in the living room. Everything loads up on it but while I'm on my laptop I'm a "Newbie" I do plan on emailing feedback but I always like to try talking to the community of anything first to see if I can get it figured out without bothering the company.

If you're a hardcore gamer, I wouldn't worry about it too much, because the newbie dot on the other account will disappear in no time. And you can copy your friend list on the other account with a pencil and paper by going into settings. (There's a maximum of what, 10 people on that list?) And the other settings are just personal preferences like color, sounds...)

Lol i'm aware of all this it was just a lil inconvenience. I just logged on with the other computer and everything is there. I don't care about the Newbie dot. I just like knowing I'm able to be on my same account. A little dot won't effect my playing skills lol :)...but the little touchpad mouse will. ha.

Either way thanks for the help.

iSketch files are stored locally on your computer. So when you changed to a new computer, it won't have the old iSketch file for Shockwave and thus your preferences and stats are gone. It may be possible to copy the file over from your other computer but I don't know how you would find it exactly and it's probably not going to be worth it... Like Clau said, your nick isn't actually registered. It's a common mistake though, people think if they put a password into the box that's it, but registrations aren't available (generally) to the public. So you don't really have an 'account'. The best thing to do is just re-enter your friends and play a few games to get rid of the dot!

It might be possible to recover these things if you didn't wipe your laptop and have both Linux and Windows on it but it's probably not worth it... You must have misread what I posted. I put windows on my Laptop so I could play iSketch and watch Netflix. Flash works on Linux but not shockwave player, I'd have to run it through WINE. My account is on my desktop computer in the living room, like I said earlier. It was never on my laptop in the first place.

So since you say they're stored on the harddrive, where would I find it? I'm sure I can find them by myself but I'd like to ask anyway. It's not really a big deal though, I'd just like to have a common account I use.

Yes, sorry I did misread it first time and changed it just before you posted that :P

I couldn't tell you how to find it though because it's too complicated for me! (Or may not even be possible...)

Actually I remembered a discussion about this kind of thing before and searched for it and found it:
http://www.isketchforum.net/isketch-went-crazy-t2815p2.html?highlight=lost+shockwave+files

There's a reference made as to how to recover Shockwave files but it was removed so I'm not sure that we can discuss specifics on the forum.

Lol I got Ninja'd :P

Like I said it's not a big deal.

It's safe to say this is solved

Thanks for the help everyone.

I believe the only registered accounts are for administrators. Really, it's not that big of a deal, if computer A and computer B are two feet away from each other and you really need to remove user1234 from that friend list of yours... you can do it twice.

I know of a few people who have registered accounts but are not administrators. I'm sure they have their own reasons for being registered but they only get a few additional privileges like those listed here (www.isketchforum.net/showpost.php?p=180500). Number 4 in the list doesn't exist any more, you can't see if someone has an ® any more.

I think the post was deleted because it allows someone to recover settings that have previously been lost, which could allude to hacking.
