The doctor could prescribe a nice enema for that clearout!! However, if you want a home remedy, try prunes! Orange juice overdose usually works for me!!
whatever happened that the forum needed to be reset? i see people with very low post counts.. has there been an incident? i've had a lookaroudn but couldnt find any documentation on this :P
Listen vary cerfully, I shall say zis only vunce!
There has been an incident, but it's all been sorted now! I am still slightly in the dark, but I think the reason there is no documentation about it is that it might contribute to the original problem. The less said and the less asked the better, I think.
If you weren't confused before that explaination, I certainly hope you are now!

As hard as our moderators work,(creep creep) they can not be here 24/7, and like right now, there are no mods presently on. I am not sure if peter/mods would agree to this, or even if it would be possible, but here is what I would like to see/happen
e.g A new member joins the forum,(or even existing member) posts likes crazy ( or even just 1 post ) but it's offensive name/shaming etc, although we can warn the post , it will be there until a mod can delete it,(which could be a few hours) so I feel it would be nice if a few (or all ) regular members could get the post temporally removed, until a mod is available to decide whether to delete it or not.
This is one way in which it could be done,
like the isketch 3 boots system , where if 2/3 members click the warning triangle , the post then goes invisable (until a mod can look at it)
and any member warning for no good reason , would lose their right to warn.
I can not imagine any thing worse, than logging on to the forum, only to find offensive/nasty posts, especially if they are about yourself, and not having a moderator on to delete it.
This would also be beneficial for spam posts, as well as any posts that may cause members to reply , thus starting world war 3.
Like I said I'm not sure Peter/mods would agree to this, or even if it would be possible, however please post your views on this,
many thanks jewels x
Edit: I shall pm this to Peter/mods.

I have considered it before but there is no modification for vBulletin for this as far as I know. Besides, it' could all go wrong with a group of rogues or one person with multiple accounts.

/me goes back to the drawing board
As it isn't possible then though vBulletin , would it be possible just to give mod powers to a few chosen regulars , but only the post removing powers , so in theory they would be post ops , ( if this is possible) this would also stop the fear of rogues abusing this system.

Jewels Has a point , although as Peter said any member with more then one account can come and vote stuff off to be invisible ( the Right or Wrong kind a posts , both can go without a mod/admin noticing ) . Some people may use their votes to unfair treatment of innocent posts which will eventualy lead to another problem.
In my opinion for the time being is that we trust our mod friends and guide/notify/inform ( when needed ) them as well as hope and trust the forum people to respect one and other.

I do feel that if we were to expand our mod team so there's a mod on every hour of the day, then there would be more chiefs than indians and would cause bedlam. I do, however, feel there should be another UK mod appointed. We're 2 mods down and, in my opinion, we need to make that up again as the system worked fine before then.
That's just my opinion tho, I'm not saying "hey, this must happen"

My suggestion, perhaps we need a msn type chit chat room,
thus also benifitting, any off topic posts , perhaps could be moved there by the mods, what do you think ?
Edit. perhaps I shall make one now, mods/Peter feel free to close it if you dont like it, but I feel it will keep the rest of the threads msn type chat free.

on the forum, i'd like to see different layouts. or different background colours. :/
There's a 3 layouts you can use right now. The standard isketch layout, the turkish isketch layout (the one with the flag) and the vbulletin layout. Go to your User CP > Edit options and at the bottom of the page you'll see miscellaneous options and there you can change the layout, but it's limited.

Hmmm, not sure whether by layouts you mean positioning of things, if you just mean skins (changing buttons, graphics, etc.) that's not so hard, but a time-consuming process all the same. I have always planned to get some more themes on maybe a 'suitible for work' one, lol. I can play about with the colours with ease though, just a case of making a new adjustment lay - nevermind, lol, it's pretty easy though.

Ok i've figured it out. The script only works if the /me command is at the star of the next line. As you see here, the /me command is not working.
/me but here it is.
/me and here.
I've disabled parsing here and copied the above:

so you can leave one line in between or no line at all, it'll work either way, but it needs to be at the star of a new line.
TO make it work midline use the tags, like *2.0 enjoys a cup of coffee while i explain this. But you have to include everything in the [me] tags. *2.0 enjoys a cup of coffee
But if you notice above, the /me command stars a new line anyway. And it's kinda fun.

You're evil
I knew about the tags, I use them when I've quoted and the / me line needs editing. Do we now have to do that in all the posts instead of the shortcut?
Not at all, you can still use /me as long as you do it in the first line or you clear a new line and do it on that one, i.e. press enter and write on the line below.
Oh this could be fun

Agreed. I put forth a recommendation to give a 3rd member super moderator status a few days ago actually, we'll see how this evolves, not to worry.

of course, you guys have done a pretty great job so far.
i'd like to have groups. you know, that part in a user's profile at the bottom right where it says "______ is not a member of any public groups" ?
i would like to have groups. as long as they didn't become exclusive and snotty... remember that thread, "Identify the board members" ?
no Royals on here allowed.
EDIT: ahaha, i just re-read the bit about Royals. i just meant the part about where they have this aristocracy and are considered... more "higher up" than everyone else. none of that, now. :P

rather than thinking of them as groups why not house teams ? like schools and uni's have,
we could have say 4 teams green red yellow blue, or better still each team/group has a poll to pick their own name, I like the hiking up the kilt group:razz: . The mods could sort us out into teams ( whose you wish to join) and any new members who join the forum can be added by a mod at any time. Once we have our house teams ( groups) we could have isketch matches against one another, or arcade tournament matches , quizes the options or endless. Each house team ( group ) could have their own thread to post on with idea's etc. and also to have a joint thread, where points etc could be won from matches etc, even have a house team of the month/ or quarterly, points awarded for good post or threads started, likewise a team could lose points if any of their members breaks rules e.g doulbe posting etc. Just an idea what do you think ?
edit : if i'm correct I think it is possible through vBulletin to have us in groups, but if it wasn't you can still do this, by loading our group/team on our personal info, or even where our location should be.

New suggestion.. might not be on some peoples good side but ill still suggest it, what about changing the forum games forum to forum games and chit chat...
that way the chit chat thread (which can get rather spammy) wont boost post counts so much, therefore forum members would have to contribute something a bit more substantial for it to count towards posts..
i know that the posts dont count for anything on here, but rather just the different ranks (i personally wouldnt mind if everyone were the same) but i know some people do like them.. maybe it would mean a little more to the person if the posts counted toward something relevant in the forum, rather than a spammy MSN-like thread
The forum should be about the quality of the users in it, and what they contribute to the forum as a whole.. rather than the quantity of the posts a member might have
who knows, this might even help members to contribute to the threads regarding problems with iSketch and not just the social ones.. but then again it is a social forum too.
who knows it just popped into my head and thought id post it :P

With regards to members who only contribute to certain parts of the forum, I'd say that we all get something different from here and there are threads that I don't touch. I think that's the way of forums tbh, we all get something different from different parts. I can't put a name on anyone who posts alot just to get their post count up. If anything, there are people who just play the games and have no real post count ontop of that.
Oh and the Chit Chat thread was made for our spammy msn-type musings. I don't think it needs to be moved, we don't post in it that much.
Since we don't post for post counts, I can't see any reason why it needs to be moved but that's just me. Maybe someone else will think differently.

How about, not letting new members start a thread saying "I'm banned for no reason please help!"
On a chat site I used to use many moons ago, once you had joined, there were only certain areas of the site you could use. After being a member for 48 hours, you could post and chat on most discussions/chat rooms. Maybe a new member should contribute towards other topics, rather than just I'M BANNED.
Am I just hormonal?!
Facey
31-05-2007, 08:38 AM
I think you're onto something there. it never ceases to amaze me that people can find their way into the right thread group but never read the sticky 'If you are banned'
Can we put a 48 hr cooling off period before certain areas can be accessed?

Maybe a bloody big sign that says:
IF YOU ARE BANNED CLICK HERE (bikersforjesus.com/)
And which links to some totally unrelated site like I just did. Or clicks to send them to the iSketch Instructions Page or an e-mail to iSketch Help Desk

LMAO BM!!!!
In all seriousness though, I think the suggestion to restrict a new member to post only in certain threads would possibly just cause an influx of I'M BANNED in the places where they can post.
I think we have to accept that as much as we don't like it, we are going to get these type of threads. The greenies sort them out quickly enough (and slap their wrists if necessary). I like BM's idea though!!!!
On another note, before the Great Cull we used to have an iSketch Feed advising whether the game was on or offline. It would be great to see that again

In the meantime perhaps these links could be posted on the front page of the forum:

If you want to ask how to get unbanned from iSketch. CLICK HERE.
If you are too stupid to read the INSTRUCTIONS in iSketch. CLICK HERE.
If you have sent an e-mail to iSketch Feedback and they say you are still banned. CLICK HERE.
If you really think we care about your ban from iSketch. CLICK HERE. (http://www.albinoblacksheep.com/flash/youare.php)

Oh BM I love you! I nearly piddled reading your posts! I think I missed the main point in my post though. I think, once a new member joins, there should be a 'no posting for 48hrs' rule. This gives the new member a chance to read over the forum fully, thus, fingers crossed, might help them find the IM BANNED PLEASE HELP thread!
It might help weed out the ones that just come on here to post about their ban/kick. It worked very well on the chat site, alot of time wasters want to cheese you off as soon as possible, whereas if there's 48 hours to wait before the pissing off begins, they might find somewhere else to vent!

( rather then keep sending pm's, it would be so much easier to use chat, for the members who haven't got each other on msn )
edit: this also might be handy for new forum members who may need a little help around the forum.

Interesting suggestion Fairy. I rarely participate the xkcd forums and they have a series of regs for newbies, but that's because their system is weird and gets a ton of bots. Then again, xkcd has like 10 thousand members, we're just under 2000 with some 200 active members... perhaps when the forum grows to be REALLY big we can apply such protocols.

I was thinking more of the forum growing like a stiff

Just to let you all know, If you are starting a new thread on the forum and you are including a poll, once you post the thread you only get 5 minutes to add the poll, I just started a new thread with poll and took about 6 minutes so I got timed out and couldn't then add a poll.
So my suggestion for the forum is, any chance it can give us a bit longer ?
