i'm using the wacom bamboo fun tablet
i cannot make dots, and when i draw it doesnt start drawing until the pointer has moved a small distance (creating gaps in lines if i remove the pen at any point)
in the following picture i am performing short quick strokes, nearly an identical motion in both pictures but observe the difference between isketch and sai

I have had this problem before, but it was easily solved. Most tablets when installed have a "Flicks" setting, and this allows you to open programs or perform certain functions when "flicking" your pen in a certain direction. I found that once I turned this setting off completely, I was able to make dots and form smooth lines.

So perhaps give that a try and let me know how it goes for you :)

i see no such thing in my settings, also i've discovered this isnt an isketch related thing, it appears to be browser related and the only word i can come up with is "drag down" but i cant find any reference to it in google.

oh wait actually i found the flick thing, the only way to get to it was for some reason in my taskbar. isketch works fine now thanks.

hey, i'm having the same problem with a bamboo tablet.

could you elaborate where you found that "flick" thing?

K, it's still not working right.

I should note that it works perfectly fine in ms paint, but for some reason it wont work properly in iSketch.

The main problem is like OP, in that I can't make dots, and I have to draw a bit before it shows up.

Any ideas?

Tried both. No progress. :(

I don't understand why this no longer works. My tablet worked perfectly fine with iSketch on my last computer; the only difference is I changed OS from XP to Windows 7.

Is there a special shockwave driver I'm missing or something? Cause my tablet works great in Paint.

Did you download the drivers for Windows 7? not sure the ones you had for XP will just automatically work on a different OS. here is where you can find the lastest driver for your tablet...not sure if you are in Europe or US..so i chose Europe. http://www.wacom.eu/index2.asp?pid=29&lang=en

Ok, so, progress update:

I went ahead and reinstalled the windows 7 drivers for my Bamboo. Unfortunately, that didn't solve my issue. Then, for kicks, I decided to try my tablet in a different browser (I had been using IE). This too proved fruitless, as iSketch in Firefox gives me the same problem.

Gaah!! Any other suggestions?

Still no good.

Sorry to OP for hijacking this thread, btw.

Is there a way to play iSketch in fullscreen or something? I think the problem is that my tablet doesn't recognize the site's drawing surface.

.......thanks a lot for all of your help, too. I really appreciate the amount of support I'm getting on this. :)

Do you have your screen zoomed to 100%?

Maybe not....like full screen?

How do I do that?

The Zoom on your window needs to be set at 100% for the draw to look normal, in most cases. Having it zoomed greater than 100& can make it look broken or pixillated.

If you use Internet Explorer, you will see a small magnifying glass in the bottom right-hand corner of your IE window with a number% by it. If it is not set at 100%, you can use the small arrow next to the magnifying glass to select a list of options - choose 100% to reset.

If you use FireFox and do not have the Zoom option buttons, you can reset to 100% by using the command CNTRL + o (for Windows) or CMND+o (for Macs).

You can also try adjusting your pen senstivity to see which setting produces the best effect for you.

Ok, I solved part of it.
If anyone else is having this problem: there seems to be a "handwriting tab" on the Pen and Tools setting for the Bamboo, which needs to be turned off.

It still isn't working 100 percent though. It's better, but the main problem I'm having is (and this is solely a browser issue) that the pen makes a "ripple" effect when I first start drawing, which iSketch doesn't detect as a penstroke at all. (i.e. it's difficult to make dots.)

Anyone else having this problem?

I wish I could help, but yeah, it's still not working for me.

iSketch must just hate Bamboo tablets or something...

Are you using Windows 7?

Yes, thats right. And firefox. I should try changing to Explorer to day. And I dont find the handwriting settings, to turn it off!

It's not the browser. I've tried this with firefox, crome, and ie.

As far as the flicks and handwriting settings go, go to control panel>Pen and Touch, then click the "Flicks" tab, and turn it off. In the same screen, theres a "Handwriting" tab. Turn that off too.

It still won't fix it though. That's where I'm at right now.

Let me know if that fixes anything. Ha, if it does, maybe you can help me!! :) Cause yeah, I'm still having troubles with my tablet.

Have you tried turning off Windows' Tablet PC Input Service?

Control Panel -> System and Security -> Administrative Tools -> Services
Scroll down until you find a Service called Tablet PC Input Service (not TabletServiceWacom !). Right click and go to Properties. Set Startup type to Disabled. Right click again and click Stop.
