.......lame

*chuckle* early morning cynicism of mine. :D Cheer up.

Edit:

It's my turn to make a complaint on this thread. Last night, a user was drawing the word "pebble". The user drew a circle (pea). Many people guessed "pea". Then the user wrote "bb", at which point some people guessed the word "pebble" -- and the user was reported for using letters by more than one person in the room.

Eventually someone comes in with a newbie dot whom I don't recognize, and claims s/he received the image and the "bb" was ok. I find this very questionable -- and run an /ip. Sure enough, the person who wrote the "bb" violation has the same address as the person claiming to be an admin.

So I ask the person who claims to be an admin to prove that s/he is an admin. I say something along the lines of "you ain't no admin." No response. So I votekick the individual.

It's only /after/ having done so, and not immediately after (like a one or two second delay after), the person's name becomes bold, underlined, and I get kicked from the room, and my voting privileges are removed.

I find this truly scurrilous, I want no part of a game whose administrators blatantly approve of and are cheating. I have withdrawn my own administrator application to this game.

Sounds a bit unlikely to me...

I think it is now difficult to unequivocably prove that someone has the same ip address and is the same person, as we now only have the first two parts of the ip address to go by followed by XX.XX. Many many people could be using the same initial group, so it's not a good idea to make decisions or take actions against people based on their partial ip address.

Thank you for your reply.

I share Mato's doubt, because as you know people usually lie in their stories about these sorts of things:

I've encountered situations like this before. A lot of people say "The last thing I typed before I got banned was a harmless comment like 'Mary had a little lamb!' How was that offensive? How did that get me banned?"

What they don't mention are the other factors, like:

They typed it ten million times
They typed it in all caps
They typed offensive text BEFORE that innocent sweet phrase
They were spamming the "game" box with their innocent sweet phrase
They had already been kicked/banned before
They drew a penis immediately before their innocent sweet phrase
...
and so on.

So, no, I'm not going to believe this.

So what are you hiding from us???? Are you sure you never broke any of the golden rules to ensure no admin trouble? I can't see how anything could go wrong if you followed them:

1. Don't draw dicks
2. Don't be a dick
3. Don't draw the word "dick"
4. Don't type the word "dick".

You should be OK?

Regardless, it's good to see you're resolving this in a mature manner (http://www.isketchforum.net/showpost.php?p=188539&postcount=40) by withdrawing your admin application and not wanting to be associated with the game.

Thank you, I'm glad you agree that my not wanting to be associated with administrator endorsed cheating is a good idea.

'Administrator endorsed cheating'? Unless you have evidence (and then I would strongly recommend you send this to feedback) then this is really just a one sided account - and it would be fair to say, we have had quite a number of them! :S

I also have to ask - why the withdrawal of your application? If you feel so passionate about it, which you must have done to post your views here; surely you could utilise this example to the benefit of the game/players/admins as a whole?

Just my two-tuppence worth!

(Oh... and I also have to agree with SoulAngel regarding the IP address).

As far as I am aware the apparently "random" portion of the (in bold below) is a hash of the whole or part of the IP address, in that it will be the same EVERY time for the same IP.
<name> is coming from 81.154.x.x (fc4468a40c8556098a230bb4f5429288)

For more information see http://www.isketchforum.net/removal-ip-and-t3722.html

The end result is it is STILL possible to identify someone coming from the exact same IP. What it isn't possible to do is identify someone by a similar IP where say only the last octet is different.

I'm not the one at fault here -- I've been punished for the actions of someone else.

These are:

1) An admin endorsing cheating (writing letters)
2) An admin endorsing the cheating of a user with the same IP address
3) An admin failing to identify upon request
4) An admin only proving identity AFTER a votekick

You ask me why I don't want to be an administrator anymore? Because I have higher moral standards and I actually follow the rules.

I have already contacted feedback; I have told them I have withdrawn my administrator application.

I've seen this kind of voting in a room I was playing in happen a few weeks ago, where one person votes against someone else who turns out to be an admin.
Normally when you vote against someone you get the usual message and the whistle sound.

Player 1 voted to kick Player 2 out of the room. or Player 1 reminds Player 2 not to violate drawing rules.

When you try to vote against an administrator, you'll find that it won't work and the above message is not displayed. At this point you would know that you have voted against an admin.

Just a bit of info. really :)

Hey there Mindraker - I am going to separate your complaint and subsequent comments to a new thread (please advise what you want to rename it) as it has no relevance to being banned.

Edit:

No comment then? OK... I have split the original thread as advised and renamed it to something more appropriate.
