The 4 Regions Will Play amongst each other over 2 weeks 4 times To decide which 5 players are to go through to represent their Region.
The playoff part of this tournament Will be played between the 15th of February and the 29th Of February..

Once the top 5 From each region has been reached the 2nd part of the tournament begins.
Each region plays the other regions in 4 games.

Hm I've never played in an iSketch tourney before. Can anyone explain how they normally work?

And I think the continent thing would be a nice idea. But it seems the Europe team would have a lot more people ;P

Perhaps you could have a competition for each area, Europe, Aust, USA etc... and then pick the top few from those competitions to represent their area, so that the same amount are competing when it comes down to international games. It makes for a long tournament but it's probably the most exciting way to do it and I'm sure I'd follow it closely.

There are lots of regulars in iSk who don't play in normal English Easy rooms. If we were to expand, like make it a MishMash tournament or Science or English Expert, we would get new competitors, I would imagine.

Wouldn't the ideal way be to have two or three players from each time in a game at once? (Not necessarily the whole team) Then do that so that everyone had a game, then compare the scores between all teams. That would allow bigger teams. Depends how many teams there are and how big the interest is.

Im not entering for this tournie, but if i was, posts like this would certainly put me off. It seems like people already have a team put in place for certain countries *cough*UK*cough* pardon me. I just think people shouldnt put names together like this, cos it would make people uncomfortable to volunteer, and this cant help encourage new people to join in with such events.

I don't understand why either of you feel that way. The people mentioned may not even enter! It could also be that the person who mentioned them plays in more with the others and so isn't aware of your considerable skills; you're both fantastic players! Besides, the players in the teams, from what I've understood, will be placed according to their individual performance. So it doesn't matter who people rate, it matters how you play and anyone with any skill in the game is in with a chance. Other's have won in the past, now might be your turn. If you don't enter, you'll never know! :smile:

Ok then everyone who joins has to be in either a Country or Regional Grouping of their own then.

This could be based on where you happen to be at the time or on State of Origin - ie - if you started playing iSketch in Australia, but are holidaying or living in England - you could be in Team Australia (or perhaps Team Oceania if we needed to get more players).

Or perhaps if you started playing iSketch in Canada, but now live in Venezuela, you could join Team Canada (not too many iSketchers in 2.0's neck of the woods).

Got 20 names so far. Probably 4 regions, got 3 from Asia, 5 from Australia, 8 from North America, 4 from Europe, The idea so far is for it to be held early to mid January.

Does this mean that since I am from the US, I cannot join a UK team? 90% of the rooms I play/prefer to play are UK rooms.

I was in the tournament room both before and during the tournament game. I recall you saying during the first round, "why have we started with only 6 players? This is stupid" or something along those lines. I was under the impression from the comment that you knew the game had begun.

You're right NoHints. Either way it doesn't work. May have to revert to the 2 points for the win, 1 point for the loss, 0 for not having a team to play and decide the final playoffs by the highest 2.

But Dean has been very fair throughout the whole thing - I'm confident he will find a good solution.

From my recollection of the mock game we played when the deicision was made to forfeit the real game - team AZN beat us quite solidly in UK Easy. Don't be too harsh on yourself.

To Dean and the mods of last night tourny

I have something, that I really need to get of my chest. I have played in many an Isketch tournanment. Last nights one to me was a bit of a disaster. I asked on numerous occassions if the tourny had started, and half the times I got no reply. On other occassions I kept seeing the PARAm being changed, to this I asked again had it started and was told NO after a while. So there I was just mucking about guessing the answers, and mucking around with some other players in the room. As I THOUGHT it had not STARTED.

I then went on to type something in the chat box, and I was rudely told by a player ( who I won't name ) but they know who they are - I was told to STFU. To this I didn't retaliate, I just said ok then I will. I then found out that the tourny had been played when a player typed in chat box that we had been floored. So going into next round it was my turn to draw and I fell out, So I sat in lobby for ages without even being invited back in to join back in the tourny.


I ended up PM'ing Dean and telling him to pull me out of the tourny.

1. When its a tournament, I don't muck about.

2. I didn't know it had started. I am not just saying that - as I am far
from being a sore loser.

I dont really think it could have been made more clear that the game had started....

there was a one minute warning, 30 second warning, then a 3 2 1 count down by yours truly....
there was also the fact that the game got restarted. Also there were no '/param' changesss during the game, dunno where you got that from.

the 'Stfu' was made after you'd been told to be quiet bout 3 times... and you were still talking. it was pretty obvious that you should have stopped talking. and at least the 'stfu' made you.... stfu.

This tournies very relaxed in comparison to certain other ones where you would have been chucked out for doing what you did in that game, show dean some respect maaaaaayyyn.

Cunny, there are just a few things that Drael (Honey-Baby), Deadpan, and I would like to point out:

1. Dean always gives ample warning and a countdown of when the tourny will begin. He also asks if all players are ready, to come off away, join the correct teams, etc. Then several players said "good luck" as they always do. This is a clear signal that the tourny will soon be starting.

2. You were told millions of times to be quiet, since you were talking throughout the whole game. I think players were quite nervous to begin with, and having to type /clear so many times was really getting to them because they were trying to concentrate.

3. The players were not being rude; they were simply expecting the tourny rules to be followed. And yes, Honey-Baby did say "stfu" in the chat box, after many players already asked you to be quiet. But honestly, she was irritated as were all of us at that point, and it was in the heat of the moment. I'm sure many players were thinking the same thing, but she was the one brave enough to say it.

4. As for you falling out, none of us 3 saw that happen, along with several other players we asked who were there. Also, Dean has all tourny members on his BL so that if one does fall out, they get invited back when they re-log in, so I really do not understand how you just sat in the studio for ages. And, if this was the case, you could have simply PM'ed Dean for an invite.

By posting this, we are not trying to start any arguments, but we simply wanted to post our observations on what we saw as players participating in the tourny. We are in agreement that the tourny start times and rules have been quite clear throughout, and that this tourny game in question was from far a disaster!

Also, we'd like to thank Dean for his patience and hard work in organizing and running the tournament!

Ok, I think I have the right to reply here. Yes I seen your 33322221111 warning, but I had also seen that possibly before that also ( sorry can't be sure of time ) I was not the only one that seen the param change on several occasions, only the other person that seen it can't HAVE the right to reply on here so has said, anyone wanting to ask anything about it to pm her on isketch, or chat to her on msn. You have seen me in many tourneys Katie and I have NEVER EVER chatted like that in chat box, and I would never have done it if I had known we had STARTED. So after I got the 333322222111 warning, which one should I have followed on Katie the first or second one ? I didn't even know who the mod's were on there last night. But putting that aside one thing that is annoying me - being told that I don't have no RESPECT. I have tons of respect, and more so for people that put their own free time and effort into organising such an event. If I don't have respect for Dean, Howcomes then I told him on MSN that I was gonna post on here, so as it didn't look like I was gonna post or talk about people behind their backs. I told Dean all this and he thanked me for taking part.

Ok Lisa479 - after I logged back into Isketch I sat and waited and nobody invited me back in, and YES I did PM Dean to ask what was happening, I then at that point was mad and told him to pull me out of the tourny, and after I said that he never got back to me.

If this was the case, of all the above statements, then howcome Dean or one of the Mod's didn't PM me and tell me to be quiet that the game had started ? Do you guy's really believe that I could be so disrespectful ? I have played with many of you, on many different occasions and believe me if I had known for one minute that, the game had started, do you really believe for me to sit back and let ppl beat me at it ?? I don't think sooooo. Well if thats what you think, then so be it - I ain't gonna get into


Oh on one final note, one person who is quite excellent at the game, one stage drew so different to what they normally do, that i thought they were messing about also

Well - I know for a fact I fell out and it was after the apparent first game of tourny. I was up to draw I fell out, everytime I tried to get back in I was told game connection lost, try looking at your internet settings. I have no need to lie and thats what its being made to look like.

I believe it's possible to fall out of an iSketch game but still have your username remain in the room for a while afterwards. Perhaps this is what happened here?

It seems to me that everyone's had their right to reply over this and I don't think anyone wants to see this situation deteriorate into calling people liars etc.

For those who would like to continue this discussion, please do it off the forum unless you feel that what you have to say is beneficial and can clarify the situation. Otherwise, I don't think anymore back-and-forth will do any good.

Let's not let this destroy what has otherwise been a fun tourney for the most part.

As Cunny is such a well known, much loved and respected player in ISK I would like to ask why all this back stabbing and distrust has occured? Anybody that knows our lovely Cunny knows she is a fair player who plays by the rules and she dont lie!! If she says she fell out and she didnt know the game has started then she should be believed. I am appalled that anybody would insinuate she was lying!!

I was watching the vidoes (great scores, btw :eek:) and didn't notice Cunny fall out. But maybe there is some sort of confusion there? She thought it hadn't started.. and maybe she fell out before or after the actual tournament (and thought it was still on)? I guess it depends what Cunny has to say - if she fell out before those videos were taken ^ or after :) Seems like there was a genuine confusion though. I've not known Cunny to talk during previous tournaments that have taken place.

Ghost players I think they call it,

I have seen it happen lots of times, infact it happened to me only 4 days ago, I fell but my name was still showing, it was only when a friend was on msn to me, saying why aren't you answering me on pm was I aware my name was still there. In most cases that I have seen, you lose connection then can't get back on with the same username, as it will say, that username is in use....however I have seen recently, a ghost player in the room, only for them to be seen logging back on :eek:

also, the other week there was a ghost player in the room, and was showing on away, YET this players name came up to draw!!!! an admin was in the room and couldn't work out what was going on.


Moral.... most of us all know Cunny, and know her to be a respectful great player and never a bad loser.....I'm pretty sure cunny must be feeling pretty sad right now, so I'm off to the HUGS thread to give her a hug, I hope others will follow :razz:


Please lets keep this tourny fun and friendly , as I'm sure Dean wanted it to be.

I get all this ghost player business, the only thing which i dont understand is how you managed to guess the last word Funty, if you didnt leave during the game and return while the games were being played? Cos to my knowledge its not possible to fall out of a room be ghosting, then return as the same ghost... if you know what i mean (correct me if im wrong). Maybe you did fall out and return and i missed it? meh

i didnt mean my last post to come across as rude, it just seems i suffer from a severe case of cantkeepmymouthshut...itus. Even with people i consider as friends.

There have been other explanations about what could have happened (see Nerdy's post for example).

This thread is taking on the appearence of a courtroom. No-one is on trial here. Everyone seems to agree that no-one is deliberately telling porkies, so PLEASE let's move on. I know various people are upset about this spat and I see no reason to let it continue any longer as I don't think anything new or useful is going to come up. I know people are confused and want answers/apologies but from now on, please use other means to get them, or just drop it and walk away from this pretty irrelevant issue. I know that Cunny brought this issue up in the first place, but it seems obvious to me that some kind of misunderstanding has taken place so I think both sides need to agree to differ, and back down.
