It's a shame 'cause if I knew this bonus stage was coming in, I would have put in a bit more effort with the pictures. I just figured we just find a pic and send them. :(

You'll just get a bit of a bonus if you happened to pick nice photos. I think it's a neat idea!

Everyone is allowed to vote. If a different number of people vote/different people vote for each pic, it's fine IMHO, because the point of the voting is just to add extra points to a picture, and to allow people who didn't participate a chance to give their opinion too on the creativity and effort people have put into this competition.

If someone has gotten all the answers right, has submitted a perfect BP, and has been particularly creative in the images they have chosen - then by all means, I think they deserve the custom rank for their efforts.

This bonus stage, in my opinion, recognises those who have tried harder for this, and I can appreciate that they should be rewarded. As Vik said, it's a level playing field because none of us knew.

I can see Vik and storms view on this. I really can. I think it adds a nice twist.. however.. I'm also seeing a few disadvantages..

1. Some person could quite easily get their friends to vote for their picture. I know.. it's childish and we're all grown up here, but you never know. I, and others, have seen people come on this forum and 'thank' posts done by their friends just for the sake of popularity. So sadly, it does show that people don't always play by the "game".

2. Although Saffy said she can trust everyone to put their input in justly, I have to say that there's still chances of people voting just their own pictures to get points.. of course, if they did think their picture was genuinely the best, then that's okay, but still, there's a possibility that people will take advantage of being able to vote on any.

Having said all of that.. I'm just going to vote for one picture with each poll. Can I just say that whoever put that picture of the hand on the face is freakin' awesome. That's by far my favourite :D

To explain this polling more:

It was always my intention to give people who added a little creativity to their pictures in Stage 1 a bonus. Originally I was going to go with each clue being worth 3 points - 2 as explained, and 1 for creativity. But that posed a few problems:

1. Creativity is subjective. What I think is creative is not what others may.
2. There were varying degrees of creativity in the pictures. Should I start issuing 1/2 points...
3. and, even though I am facilitating this competition, and it was my idea, I don't think the entire scoring should be up to me, I would like every forumite to have the opportunity to help decide.

In regards to the voting system - again I had 2 options - vote for one, or vote for mulitple. I originally would have liked people to pick their favourite 3, however vBulletin does not support that in its poll options yet, and in the end I thought the limit of 3 was not a good idea anyway. I went for the mulitple option because:

1. I felt 'everyone' who was creative deserved to get bonus points, and a single choice prevented that
2. It gives a better rating of overall creativity.

I did not make it known that creativity was going to be part of the points system in this Stage, otherwise everyone would have sent in creative pictures (much as I would have liked to see them) and it would limit the opportunities to seperate people to help decide a winner. I have stated, however, that creativity is encouraged in Stage 2.:biggrin:

No system is without its faults, and the "voting for your friend's picture" option is something I don't think could be worked around. Much in the same way as getting assistance in working out the clues for Stage 1, or getting someone else to create the picture for Stage 2. Voting for your own picture is something that also can't be prevented, however....it's going to be pretty obvious if a standard picture gets one vote only :embarrassed:

At the end of the day, I just have to trust that people are doing the right thing, and if it it turns out they are not, then I'll just have to pass them over to Ches to deal with. And that could be scary. :twisted:
