THIRD AND FINAL STAGE
The final stage is here at last.
It’s been a long time coming
But I’ve enjoyed this little game
(Although the scoring’s numbing….)
To finish off the Treasure Hunt
You need to look right here (http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii163/_Saffron/Treasure%20Hunt/Stage%203/Step01.jpg)
I’ve hidden many little things
So you may have to peer
Look upon this masterpiece
And find the little bows
The total number that you need:
Tis only I that knows!
Here is what you are looking for:
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii163/_Saffron/Treasure%20Hunt/Stage%203/bows.jpg
They are scattered throughout this picture:
http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii163/_Saffron/Treasure%20Hunt/Stage%203/Step01.jpg
Instructions:
You need to submit
a copy of the picture, with the bows circled so it is obvious that you have found them.
the total number of bows you found.
Closing Date:
Your answer needs to be PM'ed to me by 11:59pm on 30 November, 2008 (your own time)
Scoring:
1 point for every correct bow you have found and indicated on the picture where it is.
Minus 2 points for every bow you do not find.
MInus 2 points for anything you circle that is NOT a bow.
ILoveMaths07

Just 1 point for finding 1 bow? That means the one who's currently leading will win the Treasure Hunt... Mr. Artist, of course! There should be a heavy negative mark for NOT finding a bow...:biggrin::twisted:
Bellicimo
22-11-2008, 10:24 AM
Do we like lose any points if we guess something that isn't a bow? or is that what maths meant? :(
ILoveMaths07
22-11-2008, 10:50 AM
Will we lose points if we find 'extra' bows?
Saffron
22-11-2008, 11:17 AM
Just 1 point for finding 1 bow? That means the one who's currently leading will win the Treasure Hunt...That depends on how many TreasureBows everyone finds.
There should be a heavy negative mark for NOT finding a bow... Actually, I like that idea. *changes scoring method* Will we lose points if we find 'extra' bows? No, there is nothing in the scoring about that. You get 1 point for every bow you find and show me where it is on the picture. Actually, on second thoughts, that might make people circle thigns that COULD be bows....just on the offchance.....so - YES, lose points. - see original post for scoring method :P
Of course, I reserve the right to deduct points from someone who is not playing within the intended spirit of the competition.
Meh, just find the bows :P

I am with storm, it is hard to distinguish said bows
Maths = that depends on whether you're right or wrong?
As Nerdinator says feeling a bit old squinting at the pic
Even with glasses it is all a it too tiddly, zoom does nowt obv cos res is low.
I did start on it but tbh it did start to give me a headache.
Could you make 2 pics, higher res?

I was thinking about asking Saff to make the res a bit bigger too.. but I have to say it'll probably defeat the purpose of 'finding' them, so that might be why she's kept it this small. I think we'd all probably find them all if the pic was bigger (unless saffypoo has been very subtle with some). It's a bit like finding Wally (or Waldo?) in a big picture, lol. Maybe I'm wrong.. XD
Where, where, where, where's Wally? (http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=CGyvPeTRMLU)
:embarrassed: God, I loved watching that as a kid...

It is supposed to be part of the challenge, although no doubt there will be those with the technical know-how to enlarge the picture sufficiently to find them easily... I wasn't intending to give anyone a headache
Two people have submitted answers so far, both have different answers.

Somehow, I don't think you need to worry about that, because enlarging it makes the clarity worse

Which is good.
So I'll just do my best with this pic :) /hug Saff

lol it's fun... just circle the ones YOU THINk are bows. don't worry about the penalty... it's all part of the fun! This is one stage I won't mind losing, because I enjoyed every part of it. But of course, I hope I win!:biggrin:
That's a LOT harder than it looks. Bloody good idea, Saffron.

Aww, that's a shame that you missed Stage 2, but maybe you could do this stage anyway for the fun of it...
Since there is negative marking in this one, if you're good at spotting all the bows and avoid all the negative penalties, I think there's a chance you might climb past the other competitors in the points ranking. The negative marking is quite heavy and I think the picture is quite challenging, so you never know. There's nothing (for you) to lose anyway, only something to gain.
db1986
23-11-2008, 05:59 PM
This is a great idea Saff  Adding the negative marking was a good idea, as stormy said, as it provides a means for others with fewer points to still be in with a chance of winning. I just hope I can find them all
When do we find out who drew what? I'm dying to know!

OK then, let's do a guessing game whilst the Stage 3 entries are being finalised (I have 5 entries so far - all with different numbers by the way, hehe).
PM me a list of who you think drew which picture . - everyone should at least get Entry 03.
/me considers whether she should give a list of the artists to match......and then thinks, nah - there's quite a few hints scattered throughout the threads anyway
I won't make it part of the scoring though - and any forum member can send in an entry - the person who gets the most correct can have a special mention in the Awards (http://www.isketchforum.net/awards-t2809.html?p=148421#post148421) thread.
Closing date for PM's is the same as for Stage 3 of the Treasure Hunt - 11:59pm on 30 November. I want to clear the way for anyone who may be planning something Xmass-y in December

Gawd Belli, you think it' hard on YOUR eyes counting one lot of flippin' bows......
um...I have been counting them pic by pic within the big picture, as I know how many TreasureBows I added to each entrant's pic.....I guess to make a definitive stance to avoid any confusion that may arise later:
Circled objects (whether or not they are TreasureBows) take precedence over the figure you give me for the total.
And, yes, if you send me a picture and then have second thoughts, I will take revisions up until the closing date. Be sensible though, I am looking at a fair few pictures.....if you do it too many times, I might start deducting points for making me work too hard.

Total number of Treasure Bows = 138
When I did that part of the comp, I didn't think I would get so many varied answers, I thought I might have made it too easy. But, no-one actually got full points in this Stage. Most people were very close, and one entrant gave the magic number, but had circled one that wasn't a TreasureBow and had missed one.
The highest scorer in this Stage was ProofReader with a score of 136. She found 139 bows, so received 138 points for the 138 correct ones found, and lost 2 points for the incorrect one.
I just need to confirm with entrants that I scored them correctly as there is only 1 point seperating first and second place. In the meantime though, I will go and update this thread (http://www.isketchforum.net/treasure-hunt-stage-t2802.html) with the artist's names.

Well done, Alessadri! Now you just have to think up a Custom Title! (I think that's going to be harder than all the stages of this competition) ^_^
And:
Thank you so much Saffron; it was a great competition - really well organized, creative and loads of fun! x
