View Full Version : Unable to cut, copy or paste

I have recently noticed that cut, copy and paste (using <Ctrl>-<X>, <Ctrl>-<C> and <Ctrl>-<V> respectively) do not work for me on iSketch any more.
When I use, say, <Ctrl>-<V>, iSketch behaves as if I have not pressed <CTRL> and simply inserts the letter "v". The same commands work fine in other applications.
I assume this is not the case for everyone, as I see other users occasionally sharing links which would be impractical to type. I notice there is an old thread with a similar problem (http://www.isketchforum.net/cant-paste-isketch-t2521.html), but it appears to have died without being solved.
I am a PC user running Windows 7, Internet Explorer 8 and Shockwave Player 11.5. I am a highly experienced PC/Windows user.
Any advice or information would be appreciated.
There is an option to save drawings to your clipboard after each round (trying pasting into MS Paint whilst playing iSketch). So after each round/draw ends, anything that you had "copied" will be lost from the clipboard. This can be turned off in settings, I believe, or just try to do the copy AND the paste without a draw ending.

Thanks for your suggestion, Fox. You're right that if that setting was on and a round ended that the clipboard would be overwritten. However in that situation the system would attempt the paste and it would fail because of the wrong data type, rather than it failing to try to paste at all and entering a "v" in the text box as is happening to me.
I have confirmed that this setting is off, and that the problem exists when both the copy and paste happen without a round ending. It even happens in the non-drawing chat rooms.

Hey gc248 and welcome to iSketchforums :)
If, for instance, you are trying to copy text into the chat box such as a web link, then <Ctrl>-<V> should work. iSketch does have a text limit, so if you try to paste more than this limit, it will not paste at all. Also, if you're trying to copy text from either of the two iSketch windows, it will not work.
You could check that your keyboard is set to English, but otherwise as far as I know copying and pasting should work.
With regards to image copying, you could simply print the screen, otherwise do what Fox has already mentioned, select the option marked "Copy sketch to clipboard after each round" on the "Game Options" tab of iSketch settings.
